Child Support is like paying the custodial parent for taking care of your child, similar to a day care. But somehow here are additional fees if a day care is involved. If one needs to pay the custodial parent to take care of one's children then there is no reason why that child needs to be with the parent to begin with. My mother refused to collect child support for her 4 children, my father ended up happily married with someone else, she is also happily married (after putting in the work until we all became adults). This was a sacrifice she had to take to make sure she was there for us as anyone would need to do. It does not make sense to charge a non-custodial parent to the point where it affects their next life and goals. Really if you feel you cannot take care of kids with your own hard work, then maybe the kid should not be in your hands, please stop these child support laws as in my opinion I see this as slavery (Making money off the children without needing to pay the children, but still feed them whenever necessary).REPORT COMMENTS

I share a 6/8 split custody with my ex wife. She out of her good natured heart chose to take $630 alimony and $570 in child support. Not to mention I still take care of all the insurance for my boys. She gets almost half of my pay check every month. She lives with her parents who I am sure don't let her spend a dime. Yet I still have my own house, car and take care of my kids when they are in my care. She also gets to sign them up for what ever activities she wants every month with a $100 cap on my end. She gets to do nothing while I work my guts out to make ends meet. I worked for her dad before the divorce and quit because between the two of them they tried to bully me into even paying more per month than I do now. I could have gone to court but I don't really have an extra $20,000-$30,000 my attorney said it would cost in order to do that. All I wanted was an equal 50/50 split with her. She pays for them while they are in her care and I pay for them while they are in my care. She told me while we were going through the divorce that because of her dads deep pockets they would fight me untill they were satisfied. She also said " as soo as you start paying me my money you can have more time with the kids". That was while we were going through the divorce. My feeling is that there truly are no equal rights when it comes to men's rights, when divorce occurs. She is not an uneducated person and carries a beauticians license. So instead of using it she gets to do nothing and collect my hard earned $. Equal rights for who??? I get that there are deadbeat dads but for the ones who truly care about our kids we are treated as though we are deadbeats. Where is equal justice in this system? I would truly love to see it!REPORT COMMENTS

I support the child support system when it's used against dead beat dads. But the real fathers like myself who's taking care of their kids and their mother since my kids were born are the ones that always end up getting screwed the hardest. My money most of it goes to the mother's drug habit drinking and partying . She wears designer clothes when my kids are dressed with cheap clothes. My daughter was born with marijuana in her system and the mother has been arrested numerous times since my kids were born but would you think that the courts would care about that, hell no because it was her and not me! When I file for visitation she started breaking down in court trying to convince me that we could settle this without the court system. She wrote a written notarized letter that she would take me off of child support and I would pay her with money orders if I drop my visitation order and she would give me no problems about seeing my kids. I truly did not want my kids involved in the system, and like a dummy I when ahead and dropped the visitation order knowing in my heart that she wouldn't honor her own words that she agreed too. When I brought this up to lawyers they laughed at me and said she played me like a fool. And that's how I feel, like a fool just because I want to be a great father to my kids and don't want them in the system. Good fathers in this country we need to come together and do something about these matters or we will never be able to have a good life without the pain and suffering these so called "mothers" inflict on us. To all the great mothers out there who really know it is just as important for the father to be in their kid's life, thank you for all that you do and please help us!REPORT COMMENTS

For the last 15 years I have been a consistent contributor to the child support system. I have been slammed numerous times with back support orders, not because I wasn't paying, but because the court system is so backlogged it would take a year to complete a modification. They always seemed to make the order retro active from the date of filing. Convenient for my ex-girlfriend, not so much for the family I have now. While consistently paying my child support every month there has been 5 different occasions in which my ex felt it was "ok" for her to withhold my children from me, stripping me of all parental rights. Even though our visitation agreement states otherwise. Does she get in trouble for stealing years of my children's childhood from me? Nope, she gets an increase in support payments. Most recently, she has alienated my kids from me after they moved to Texas. I haven't seen my children in 5 years, not because I'm not trying but because she uses manipulation, alienation and scare tactics to keep them home with her. Does she still get her child support even though I'm not allowed contact with my kids? You bet she does. Is this fair? Absolutely not. What is even more unfair is that my children do not see a dime of the money I pay in support. She uses it to go out drinking. To buy herself things, to buy her husband $300 Air Jordan shoes and tells my kids I don't pay support. Is this fair to the children? Absolutely not. Child support recipients need accountability on how they are spending all the tax free money they are recieveing for 18 years. The non-custodial parents are penalized regardless of the how and why's of the ended relationship. Mothers are awarded custody of children just because they are mothers and they hold that upper hand through most of the formative years of our children's childhoods. Reducing a father's time to a minimal 4 to 8 days per month. There is nothing more unjust in this broken court system than that of a father who is blocked, removed and made to be less in their own child's life. The court system and child support only enable this way of thinking and this way of life. It is rigged against fathers from the start. I have been mistreated by lawyers of the opposing side. I have been railroaded by judges. I have been looked down upon for being a single father. I have had my license suspended because it took me a few months to find a new job. I have been villianized to my kids. My kids have been coached to say, act and do certain things so I could not gain visiations and this was all decided because my ex lied. Currently, I am being targeted my a new child support case worker. She has decided to take it upon herself to modify our child support order. Enforce medical coverage that more than 3 times over exceeds my obigation for coverage. Even after being notified of the excessive cost of coverage the case worker demanded my employer sign them up & threatened to hold the company responsible if she didn't. There is a clREPORT COMMENTS

i have a 4 year old son that i have never met, the mother and i dated for a couple weeks and one day she decided she was going to move with her family and being of adult age that was her right but i chose to stay where i was. Now i am moving forward with my life and the woman has decided to go for c.s. I left my wife and 2 children behind to start my career and thus far i have done that and i am working on buying a home for my wife and our children until, the state juvenile justice system decided to rob me. the total equaled 897$ per month in c.s. and another 103$ per month in arrears. This is insane i have never in my life heard of anything like this i 100% agree that there needs to be some compensation to be there for the child but 1,000$ a month???? I feel completely violated and vulnerable there is no reason for this amount That is a HOUSE PMT. This woman can sit around and collect money that the gvmnt has alloted to her. No longer is the worst thing to be in court a man of color or ethnicity, it is simply just to be a man with a job. I feel like none of my family Wife or 2 kids with said wife has been taken into account none of my bills were asked about the only thing that was taken into account was her problems. I am just a man who is doing his best I wouldn't wish this stress on anyone and at this rate i'll die from cardiac arrest before i turn 25.REPORT COMMENTS

I feel that the above statement is entirely true. Once children are in school, they are gone for six hours a day, if you don't count bus time. What exactly are those moms doing during those hours? For those of us that have to work, we really don't have a choice, we go to work, and low and behold when we get off work, we still have laundry, cleaning, lawn, car maintenance, et cetera. What exactly are they doing? I seriously don't think it would do any body any harm if they were mandated to work at least part time to help supplement the well-being of their children. This is not a male or female debate. It should be across the board, who ever receives child support, should supplement upon a child reaching age 5. The one issue I do have beyond this is how much of the child support money being received is really being spent on the child and how much is wasted on things that are truly not necessary. We also give parents who receive child support, a whole lot of extras as in free beds, furniture, aide in electric bills, water bills, cheap internet, reduced rent, free lunch, the list goes on and on while the parent working to pay the support is not entitled to any of these freebies To me that seems like stacking the deck on one side, a very unfair situation. We need to get this under control before we have a next generation who watches the custodial parent playing these games and learning that, that is how life is. If you want it, stay home and the government or charities will supply it for you. No reason to work if it is going to be given to you. Very sad situation and scary for the children growing up in this situation. I also would propose that if you are drawing welfare or getting child support, why are we not drug testing these individuals. That may seem harsh, but the only people I could see complaining are the one who are using. We have no problem asking multiple job descriptions to be randomly drug tested, what makes this group of people so special that they should be excluded.REPORT COMMENTS

After 7 yrs I found out I had a child in Oklahoma that was taken away from the mother for neglect and through later testing on my child molestation charges were added starting from age 2. During the hearing it was determined the mother "date raped" me but although everything was "looking in my favor" for the custody they decided to put a length limit on the hearing knowing I could never afford a lawyer willing to cross state lines that I could afford nor legal aid because of the state line. Needless to say, the end ruling was because I did not have legal representation and because I was not in the child's (whom I never knew about) life so I was forced to sign to have all total rights to her taken away and pay the back child support for those 7 years. To my knowledge she is still in a state foster home due to her mental status from both the abuse as well as the molestation. After paying for well over 10 yrs I have been paying $500 p/m as well as all my taxes until this month when they also deducted over 9,000 from my checking account as a levy charge making me unable to pay rent and $9,000 in the red from insuffencent funds thus making me now homeless. I don't mind the support payments but to punish someone un-justly for doing everything they can to make sure those payments are made is beyond reason. I have tried to play nice, but when that levy was taken without warning nor explination the line was crossed but still I must take their punishment because I don't have anyone to help me stand against their tyranny.REPORT COMMENTS

I believe that child support is wrong under any and every circumstance. No woman or man should collect money from the child's other parent for any reason. If a child is conceived by both parents then they both support it and if the child is only supported by one parent, then that parent better get up and work til they can provide. After my divorce I decided to waive my right to collect child support for our son because I felt even though the dad was in and out of his life, he shouldn't pay me to take care of my own child. I worked a full time job, part time job, bartended and went to school full time just to provide for my son. I was exhausted but we were ok. I knew I would do it without being greedy or lazy and I did. Child support is a persons excuse to be lazy and collect income while doing nothing to Better themselves.REPORT COMMENTS

The supourt was awarded by johnson county kansas . The mother (who hasent had contact with her children) lives in Indiana . I have contacted the mother . She has never receved or even tried to file for supourt. This is all proof that child supourt is a smoke screen alowing local govs. To steal money from whoever they please . I had a great job and as a single father work very hard to raise and supourt my children . It angers me so that governments can abide their power like this and get away Scott free . Because of this situation I have lost my job as that the amount of money the courts were garnishing from my check made it impossible to even have the funds left on my check to even transport my self to work the next week . I have been fighting this county for 5 years over this matter and there is now budging on their part . Basicly telling me . We can give you a parent plan and make modifications but it can't be stopped . JOHNSON COUNTY KANSAS is taking food strait out of my children's mouth and claiming to be doing it to supourt them. I have several recommenced solutions. Payments should be based on age and location not how much someone makes. Example a child living in Atlanta at the age of 10-15 years of age cost a total of $1000 a month. That cost should be split among both parents. they both should send payment into one system that the government tracks. A percentage of the child support should go to a mutual fun or savings account for the child. Example out of a $700 child support payment $50 dollars should go to the savings account or mutual fund. At 18 years a child could have $11,000 and that's without adding interest over the years. Not a lot of money however it gives a child something to start their life off with. Lastly Make the man responsible fro specific things like child care, clothing, and insurance. That way the father can pay directly fro the items and money is accounted for.REPORT COMMENTS
