There should be a Nationwide standard For child support. A standards amount for every one to pay. There should be a standered on what they can use the money for like on a card so they just can't go bar hopping wit the money. It should not be like paying alimony.Keeping theme accustomed to a lifestyle when you may have not even been married. Its one sided and its not right.REPORT COMMENTS

I also think women should have to work after the child is 5 years old. There are women who have child from several different men just to keep collecting child support. This rewarding these women has to stop.REPORT COMMENTS

My concern and issue is the fact that there are women out there who willfully and knowingly give false information to a state for support while they collect welfare. My Husband and I have recently experienced this with the state of New Jersey Child support. We are WA state residents and the girl of the child resides in New Jersey. NJ child support failed at goving my husband due process to challenge paternity, meanwhile they cut corners, got a court order by default and starting garnishing my husband for a child that isnt his. Not only did they take money from my hisbands paychecks, but even after he had to leave his job and fly from WA to NJ to get it straightend in court, NJ took almost every dime of our tax return. And have the nerve to say we have to sue the father. Wth? If she doesnt know who her childs father is, how in the hell are we supposed to know. Basically NJ stole from us. They did not give a damn. And left our family in hardship. He and I have 2 children in common, yet he's been garnished for a child that isnt even his kid. This kinda thing must stop and these welfare queens should be held accountable for lying in the first place.REPORT COMMENTS

I support changing father's rights in some situations. In my situation, my daughter's father was doing hardcore drugs in the home, in front of our child. 3 restraining orders, I don't want his money asd even signed a good cause waiver to stop the state from pursuing support. To me, he gave up his rights when he walked out the door 5 years ago and never looked back. So we do not need anything from him. From a different perspective...My now fiance, has 2 separate support orders in the state of Massachusetts. The 1st is for his soon to be 18 yr old son, in which he was forbid contact with since he was 8. The grandmother was awarded guardianship by the court, because of circumstances with the mother. He was ordered to pay child support by the judge, but ordered to pay more than normal because the mother was not working. All these years she has gotten away with not paying support, even when it is state law that both parents financially support child. She was supposed to be ordered the state minimum of $20/week, but somehow managed to get out of paying anything. We've gone to court a few times to have support modified due to job changes and reduction in income, but the judge denied our request for modification. He never married the child's mother. When he met his wife, they had 2 children. Which is where his second support order comes from. Which is fine, because we are very active in these children's life, and even with support give them everything they need. So in total we are paying $325/week in support. My fiance works 70hrs per week doing air freight, which is federally exempt from OT. But the judge did not care. He was told to find another job. How fair is that? A father who is willingly paying support, for a child he was forbid to see, basically made out to be a lowlife by the judge. How do they expect father's to survive? We are paying $1300.00 per month in child support. Which leaves us $250-$300 per week to pay rent, groceries or every day needs. In Massachusetts average rent for a studio is $8-$900 per month. So it is okay for father's to be homeless, or unable to support themselves....There has to be someone out there to advocate for these father's who are willing to support their children, but get screwed when it comes time to pay support. Why should the father have to work 2 or 3 jobs or 70-80 hours a week just to be able to pay support and have means to provide for themselves? It is virtually impossible for the father to rebuild a life and move forward after a support hearing. There should also be laws put into place that child support is counted when taking into consideration income. $325.00 per week is a Huge sum of money. To some, an entire week's paycheck. To not be considered LOW income when applying for assistance is another rule that needs to change. Gross pay is one thing before taxes, but when you add in child support and taxes, more than 70% of his check is gone. There are genuinely decent fatREPORT COMMENTS

I believe that both parents should be responsible for their children but women shouldn't blackmail the father's by draining all the money they bring home. Father's need a place to stay but if you take all of their paychecks and they have no place to stay and they don't have enough money to eat or enough money to put gas in their cars how are they supposed to pay for child support. They become bitter and then the children feel the lost. These mothers are lazy so they need to work they are so quick to ask for welfare but they threatened the father's about putting them in jail. Women are not angels we can be evil creatures and we do have to take responsibility for the choices we make. If we want to help our children we have to come to some understanding for the father's who are working and trying. Fifty fifty on both sides.REPORT COMMENTS

I am at most happy that The Family Court Committee of the Missouri Supreme Court has taken the time to have the Family Support Division reviewed. I am a 27 year old African American that has been in the city of Ferguson all my life. I thought this opportunity would never be brought about me being a father to my daughter. I've been in the system for close to 9 years, I make my payments on time since then. In the past I was paying a lot more than I should've but my attempts to reach out to child support has been unsuccessful. It seems as if the system targets the father for outstanding payment amounts, their driving privileges, and credit report when the mother just collects. Taking care of your child is the #1 priority but when an agency like child support makes it hard for an individual that's really trying. Dec 27, 2015 I had unfortunately lost my job, working as a dishwasher and I held on to it to the best of my abilities. I talked to Barbara Menzel about my employment situation and other options I'm willing to take regarding my situation. She worked with me because I had to send pay stubs for a modification to have my current order reviewed. It was an transmission error with printer at library and application was sent only, I also told her it was an error at library. She didn't return my calls but sent me a letter saying my modification is closed. Wages doesn't show 50% increase in income, hence I worked only 3 days out of the week because of other dishwashers. She returned a letter in the mail, with all capital letters saying my review is closed and could not be open. I was upset and was afraid my tax refund would be intercepted. I talked to a representative and all my records are in the system, she listened to my story and still didn't send my information to enforcement so changes could be made. I cried for a while, I couldn't hold it in when I talked to her and felt my situation wasn't even recognized. It's hard to try to make a change when the representative didn't do her job. I called again and had my tax information reviewed so we can talk options to still pay but still have some finances to take care of priorities being unemployed I looked forward to my tax refund. I talked to another representative listened to my story also. I stated, "Is all my money going to be taken?" "Yes sir," said the representative and I cried after that again. I had received the tax off set refund notice but my refund was still pending to be intercepted and I have to wait another month to receive the difference. I was so calm throughout the whole process because being angry would not solve problem and child support has my fate in their hands. I just pray about it being a change with the system so father's can be recognized more. Corey which is the supervisor in the division heard me out and successfully sent to enforcement. As of now I am waiting to have a hearing about my taxes. I thank the individuals who recognize this comment and hopefully some things wilREPORT COMMENTS

JOIN FREE: Federal Class Action for U.S. Child Custody Victims - Friends, I just joined CAPRA as one of the lead plaintiffs in an upcoming landmark federal class action lawsuit against all 50 States and the Federal Government, because I qualify as: (1) a biological parent whose child custody was unconstitutionally removed without due process; and, (2) I have been directly impacted by that during the last four years, i.e., within the statute of limitations. This class action is on behalf of *both* types of "family court" -- for wrongful victims of divorce-and-similar-with-kids *and* for wrongful victims of child protection services -- and includes suing on behalf of ANY parent affected by either "family court" type. It's totally free to join, and the federal court relief being demanded includes the full restoral of my child custody rights under law, plus a nice share of the large amount in civil damages expected. After reading many articles published from law schools, it is a solid statement to say that the government introduced child support laws and enforcement not for children, rather to benefit the government. It was decided that it was cheaper to form a child support division and spend millions on payroll than to have millions of women go on welfare. The expense was passed on to fathers as a way to keep woman off welfare. Yes fathers should be held responsible but not to the extreme of them not having a life of there own and the constant counterproductive laws which impede our constitutional rights.REPORT COMMENTS

I don't think its fair to put a rubber stamp on child support. You have great dad's that provide for there kids, and just because or out of spite a woman can get some absolutely crazy amount of money out of the father. A social worker should be forced to come and observe a family to see if the mom is working, or even trying to find a job. Is the dad providing for the child, spending time with the child. Create a report for the judge, so you don't get some judge reading numbers on a paper and putting child support into a situation were it completely unfair to the dad.
