Why should a person be obligated to pay more money that the amount it actually costs to raise a child in a traditional setting. I spend about $25 per week or $100 per month on my child and it more than covers food, clothing, etc. Now if the mother were to leave and abuse child support I would now have to pay over $600 per month. I understand that housing is calculated in the equation, and that is wrong since that would meant that I would be paying housing for the child 2X. For one empty room and for a room where the mother and kid would probably sleep. Things need to change.

I have been very active in my 4 year old son's life. Even through my difficult financial times. I was incarcerated for a year, returned and it took 2 years to land a job. In the mean time I was there helping as much as I could, taking him to dr visits, keeping him everyday for 3 months to offset daycare cost etc. Once I became employed I began to give his mother money as much as possible while supporting my other two kids. The mother and I lived together for a year until I left the relationship and home because of an domestic dispute inwhich she started. This ws 3 months ago. Since then she has filed and had me convicted on 2nd degree assault, two restraining orders saying I planted a knife in her bed (totally false) and now she is taking me to court for child support all because I left the relationship. I only make 40k a year with 3 kids and fear that the flawed legal system will make it hard for me to pay bill and live.

I love him to death but I don't know where the money is being spent I have to buy him a new book bag, clothe and shoes. He looks like he going to school wearing pajamas I just don't understand why the money is not being controlled for my son? I can support my 17 year old son who lives with me and can't even give him money to spend on cloth and provide us with food and shelter for the both of us.....

I've raised my two boys for years with only me working and when their mother and I split she now works but still takes over half my pay and now I'm unable to even pay my bills. How is PA making child support equal for both parents when she gets enough money from me she doesn't even have to work full time and will not bother trying to improve that for my boys.

'When a female determines she is pregnant, she has the freedom to decide if she has the maturity level to undertake the responsibilities of motherhood, if she is financially able to support a child, if she is at a place in her career to take the time to have a child, or if she has other concerns precluding her from carrying the child to term. After weighing her options, the female may choose abortion. Once she aborts the fetus, the female's interests in and obligations to the child are terminated. In stark contrast, the unwed father has no options. His responsibilities to the child begin at conception and can only be terminated with the female's decision to abort the fetus or with the mother's decision to give the child up for adoption. Thus, he must rely on the decisions of the female to determine his future. The putative father does not have the luxury, after the fact of conception, to decide that he is not ready for fatherhood. Unlike the female, he has no escape route." -Attorney Melanie McCulley "if a woman makes a unilateral decision to bring pregnancy to term, and the biological father does not, and cannot, share in this decision, he should not be liable for 21 years of support...autonomous women making independent decisions about their lives should not expect men to finance their choice." - Attorney Karen DeCrow http://childsupportreformnow.com

I just got out of mediation and the mediator didn't care that my pay fluctuates. He only looked at the last few pay stubs and I told him that these pay stubs are not typical. I rarely make $1000 pay checs (every two weeks), but with my work it just so happens I'm busy. That all ends quickly and i'm back to making $10/h. He didn't care, saying he's going off of the last few. Now I'm stuck with rent, a phone plan my ex refuses to remove herself from, my living expenses and child support with insurance. I was scraping by before, now I'll essentially get 1 1/2 paychecks while she lives rent free with her mom. My four year old daughter certainly doesn't eat $300 worth of food every month or use that much electricity, or go through that much clothing or toothpaste and such. This arbitrary system of 1/3 of the non custodial parents pay is bs! And as soon as I try to do better, they take more all of a sudden? wtf is that. what all of a sudden, my childs needs shoot up? I make more and my kid needs a pony all of a sudden or something? I'm sure if the men were automatically given custody (lets face it, women pretty much get custody no matter what), things would be different in a heartbeat

I totally agree that women should have to work also. Especially when there's women who also get government assistance.

I think child support money should be placed in an account for the child to access when they are 18 and or with signatures of both parents. Too many people are abusing the system and spending the money on football game tickets, concerts, drugs, nails whatever and neglecte the needs of the children.

50-50 custody there should be no child support both parents are contributing 50/50 child-support just ruin lives and messes up the relationship with the children and makes the parents use the children for money .If the parent is not contributing or helping then yes there should be child support awarded. There should be a set amount and how much it takes to raise a child at a certain age not More you make the more the other parent gets .All it does is cause problems makes the parent not want to work , even work under the table or just leave and go into hiding.

Being a mom I understand both sides. My sons father left me to raise our son hen I was 7 mnths pregnant. I was fortunate to have a good relationship with the father and received support on time. What I dont understand is how women can stay home not work and not do anything with their children. I wish that no matter which parent has custody bith parent should hsve to support THEIR children. Why is it up to the non custodial parents job to have to support the custodial parents household? If support was decided based on both parents income using the lower income as the percentage for support I bet bith parents would work to make sure the children get what they need. My other concern is how support is spent, since I am engaged to someone who pays support, my red flags go up all the time around his kids. They always where oversized clothes, horrible shoes (unless we buy them) and always I mean always act like their starving. I've also heard them tell us their mom doesn't get up with them in the morning, cook any meals or talk to them after school because she's always on her computer. As a parent this deeply concerns me to their well being. The oldest feels it his responsibility to take care of the others but doesn't give him a chance at being a child. If lawmakers could really look at why fathers don't get custody , how to make support fair (both must support children) and a system to show the mney is actually spent on kids. A break down showing money and where spent would really be a great start. If your a good parent this won't be a problem in any way. Stop harassing non custodial parents and hold custodial parents responsible! P.S. Not all fathers are the ones that leave, hmm

It's common place for women to use the support they know they will receive as an easy way out. Instead of appreciating the fact the dad has a good job they would rather go after it in support.

wa state child support is not fair let alone for the non custodial parent's other children who live in tbe home. my husband and I have 3 kids, 2 of which are still in diapers, 1 who has special needs and currwntly being evaluated for autism. we had to pay out of pocket medical expenses which were around $9,000. my husband and I have always worked (were both in the Army) & my step daughters mother has never ever had a job even without a boyfriend. yet she now has a boyfriend fully supporting her who she also has a child with and yet none of that support was taken into account. They wanted his support for his daughter to be over $740 a month. Yet we cannot afford it, its not about not wanting to pay it, were all about supporting his daughter and believe in doing so, but there is a problem if we cant take care of our kids or support our kids, lose our home because we cannot afford the mortgage. How is this right to our kids, my step daughter has another home with her mother and the boyfriend so it wouldnt affect her, but my kids and us would be left homeless and trying to survive and we still wouldnt qualify for state assistance. I do not even spend $300 a month on all 3 of my kids combined and that includes diapers & wipes. Child support needs to be fair and reasonable this is ridiculous. They want people off state assistance and yet they make child support so high. the paying parent needs to be able to support themselves otherwise qhat good are they to that child and why be onligated to pay when the parent refuses to ever work and just collect eztra money without trying to support the child themself. Child support laws need to change.

Child support has ruined my life Been in my life my whole life, since I was a kid took my father away now doing the same thing to me and my daughter. My childz mother went to take me off of support the actual people in child support tricked us offered no help for two parents trying to work it out. Then after a court case I go to jail for child support ,we go back to office the worker told us it's not her job to direct us how to get off of child support. When I say Imore getting an attorney and I have all pieces in play to go up against this system.

I have a son who is austic. His mom and grandmother have switched custody back and forth several times over the years without my knowledge. I was paying child support the whole time, until the grandmother made the mistake of telling me that she had custody. This was in 2012 and i immediately had my child support stopped after I showed proof of the change of custody at the child enforcement office here in Nashville TN. He is now 18 and currently still in school. The grandmother went probate court and she has control of his estate due his austism and says he is disabled. Now im being sued for child support once again. I was never given the opportunity to get custody of him when his mom and grandmother were switching custody back and forth between the two of them. His mother doesn't work and she has 3 younger children that she doesn't have custody of. His mother and grandmother live in the same residence, along with the grandmother's grown son. So its 3 adults plus my 18 year old son who has austism who all live in a 2 bedroom apartment. The mother and grandmother doesn't work. Im not sure about the work status of the grandmother's grown son. Anyway, my son sleeps in the same room with the grandmother. He sleeps on a bed that I purchase for him. The grown-up son has his on room and my son's mother sleeps on the couch in the living room. It seems to me that my son is being used to obtain benefits from the state. Since my son has austism im sure he gets a disability check for his condition and this is used as a crutch for the other adults at residence. This is a family that came from low income housing and the welfare system. So basically they know how to work the system. I have no problem of taking care of my son and in fact I welcome the opportunity to do so again. I just pray that I can possibly get custody of him soon. Had I known the true nature of his condition much earlier when he was still a child I would've got custody of him then. I would've gotten him the proper medical help to ensure that he could've been a functional adult with a job and could take of himself. Instead of him being in a household with grown adults that benefit from his disability. I have hired an attorney to deal with this child support situation and I hope that the court system at least holds his mother just as liable as me.

Great joke of a post from Berryville AZ. We know kids are just a source of cash for lazy ladies not wanting to work and get the free ride. If you dont need a man, then you dont need his money RIGHT? So many single mom really suck. Responsible for 71% of high school drop outs 80% prison inmates 80% rapists 67% of teen suicides (GOOGLE IT FOR TRUTH about the single mom agenda) EPIC FAILURE It should be 50/50 custody of kids with no money changing hands. The guy has the kids one month and the lady had the kid another month. With equal rights need to come equal responsibility. No lady should be able to use kids for pawns as cash and do their nail and buy clothes for themselves

I cannot even believe what I am reading. If you are man enough to spread your legs you need to be man enough to take care of those kids. You see all these worthless men out here who do absolutely nothing for their children and then complain because they have to help support them. You want to fight and make yourself look good in court and then turn around and follow absolutely nothing in the court order. Don't know a thing about your children much less support them. And if they kept the job once in awhile we won't have this issue of them not being able to pay. Whether they were on birth control or not you slept with them you knew there was a chance.

JOIN FREE: Federal Class Action for U.S. Child Custody Victims - Friends, I just joined CAPRA as one of the lead plaintiffs in an upcoming landmark federal class action lawsuit against all 50 States and the Federal Government, because I qualify as: (1) a biological parent whose child custody was unconstitutionally removed without due process; and, (2) I have been directly impacted by that during the last four years, i.e., within the statute of limitations. This class action is on behalf of *both* types of "family court" -- for wrongful victims of divorce-and-similar-with-kids *and* for wrongful victims of child protection services -- and includes suing on behalf of ANY parent affected by either "family court" type. It's totally free to join, and the federal court relief being demanded includes the full restoral of my child custody rights under law, plus a nice share of the large amount in civil damages expected. Check it out! It just requires entering someone's referral Code to join, so PLEASE use mine - 42085JL619 - in the CAPRA registration form, located on the bottom of the homepage at http://parentalrightsclassaction.com Plus, check out their power-packed Legal Tips page for all parents fighting family court, too -- Wow!!
