(Read the last part) It's Pathetic How child support is Supposed to be For the child to live the best life he or she could have. But you go to court the mother gets your child even though she cheated on you and left you. She don't make any money and unsuccessful. All her things is in my name still. All her family is devorced and she lives house yo house dragging your child around with her. While I have my own house own, own vehicles, I don't drink, I dont smoke, I don't party. I'm a 26 year old supervisor at a huge Chemical plant. And now she lives off my Success. If I still move up in my company she gets a raise! We went to court and they messed up on my paper work and I was paying 500$ a week and it was supposed to be 700$ a month. I only see my daughter every 2 weeks on the weekend. I can go on and on. Every father you talk to wants to have there child 24/7 because they know what there child needs it isn't nothing to do with money. At this point i will still pay her 700$ a week if I can keep my daughter. But everyone else that's all what it's about is money. The women, the judge, the lawyer all taking from the man that just wants what's right! USE MY TAX MONEY TO HIRE SOME ONE TO SEE HOW I LIVE!! I WANT MY DAUGHTER! (((( IF THE COURT WOULD MAKE THE WOMAN PAY A PERCENTAGE EVERY MONTH TO THAT CARD. IF THEY DONT SPEND ALL THE MONEY THATS ON THAT CARD FOR THE CHILD THAT MONTH. THE CHILD SUPPORT CAP WOULD BE DECREASED! NONE OF THEM WOULD BE IN THERE.))))Jun 27th, 2016Someone from North Canton, OH writes:
Child Support needs massive reform in this country. In my own situation I ended up losing my children to a broken child welfare system with a complete lack of evidence. As far as the child support goes, I was having so much taken out that I was making under $11,000/year, that is below poverty level, this system needs to change.REPORT COMMENTS

I am a single father to my first child and am paying child support for my second. I am on the same boat the mother is except I have to do everything she does ON TOP of keeping a steady job, paying all my bills which I have a little over $50 at the end of my paycheck, paying for daycare while I go to work which everyone knows prices are hyperinflated, hover right at the poverty level while I raise my first child all by myself. On the other hand as soon as she found out she was pregnant she moved 4 states away after I left for deployment while she was pregnant. Depression is a real thing, and when men are expected to just suck it up and deal with it, the financial burden the government puts on "deadbeats" leaves us crippled, unable to progress and achieve higher goals to set ourselves up for our children, and stuck at rock bottom in our hearts and soul. Suicide rate is high for us because sometimes we cannot handle all of the pressure, financial burden, and heart break. All the while there is no accountability for the child support money or the recipient.REPORT COMMENTS

I live in the state of Texas, which requires 20% of your income for one child. That's 1/5th of your annual income. That's absolutely insane. It does not take that much money to raise 1 child. Women are divorcing men at an incredible rate now because the Family Court System is making it so advantageous for them. The court is giving corrupt and opportunistic women too much incentive to divorce. Who doesn't want to sit at home and collect a child support check every month? The Family Court Judges have too much power and not enough oversight. The whole divorce process is biased against fathers. The children pay the highest price, and America's future will show this. Expect the next generation of American's to be so bitter about marriage that they completely forego the whole charade.REPORT COMMENTS

I'm a college student who never asked my children's mother to raise our kids and am perfectly capable of raising them on my own. Right now i have them part time when i helped raise them full time for years and fighting for a fair 50/50 split. Women fought for workplace equality and got it, then why aren't they capable of making enough money to raise the children without leeching off someone? Where is our equality in parenting? She is also working nights at a bar and just keeps the kids.REPORT COMMENTS

Where to start....I have a 13 year old daughter, whom I haven't seen in 8 almost 9 years. Her mother bounces around from state to state and is almost untraceable. Making it impossible to find her or my daughter. She can't hold down a job, yet I am still being held responsible for her child support. She gets ahold of me once every couple years because she needs extra money...really? The law needs to be changed! It's not fair I am being charged monthly for a child I can't see, nor can I find, but there are no reprucussions for her mother taking her out of state (several states), or keeping her from me. Which are both against her court order. I feel my hands are tied and the government is against me. There seems to be nothing I can do except hire a lawyer I can't afford, hire a PI to go find her, and then take her to court that she won't show up to. I have already been down this road...something has to done in this unjust system...after all, isn't supposed to be justice for all?REPORT COMMENTS

The child support law need to be updated because there are way more dead mothers out there than 20 years ago. There are more father that want to be apart of their sons and daughters life but the mother drive them away or wouldn't allow them to see their kids. Yes its true I know first hand it's mother out here that sit on their butt and won't get a job because they collect a child support check. We are living in a new generation and we need new generation laws.REPORT COMMENTS

The amount is 20-25% of your income before taxes, along with having to pay for health insurance. Let's also not forget about those who live in expensive areas to get better paying jobs. There is no accountability for what the money is used for, along with having even more support from a new partner. After all is said and done, I have enough left over to sleep and workREPORT COMMENTS

Parenting time should be time spent with child not where they sleep... If a parent has a career in a profession that has off shift hours should not be held against them because they can't have their children sleep over. ex..Nurses, police, If the other spose remarries their new spouses income should be considered. New spouse is contributing to house hold so elevates some financial demands. I am a single mother of 3, work full time at night so I could be with my children during the day, I did this when I was married and continued to do it while divorced and my ex used it against me. So judge granted him Primary. I pay him child support. mind you I make twice what he made, He married a year later to a very wealthy women, she pays all the bills and he still gets child support.. I rent a home and provide for my children, they never pack a bag, and have all needs met at both homes. we have 50/50. custody. I have no savings, no financial security. Its frustrating that he has her money, his money and my money, when I am barely getting by weekly. Congress REALLY needs to re evaluate the 1950's child support guideline. This is a very different time.REPORT COMMENTS

This is true and there are many other unfair child support laws that need addressed. Parents should be required to pass a drug test to receive any type of support.REPORT COMMENTS

Why is child support not tax deductible? You pay taxes on the money you worked for that week and then again at the end of the year. The other parent gets a tax break. Why does child support not automatically stop after child turns 18? Child support sends you letter saying your child is about to turn 18, so how about stop the child support then.REPORT COMMENTS

I am a mother who is being made to pay support. My ex took the kids DBS moved 800 miles away. He had court without me and got everything he asked for which includes sole custody and nearly 700 a month in support. I am a server in a restaurant. I make 2.13 plus tips. I can't drive because my pro ledges got revoked because I can't pay support. My ex couldn't handle my son so he had him put in a mental hospital and most recently in a group home. No one ever asked if I would like to have my son back. My sister offered to take him but my ex would rather put him in a group home. I just got a letter from the state this morning saying that the group home wants child support too. The laws have got to change. My faith in God is my only hope as the court battle that I've been going through for the last 10 years has nearly destroyed my life.REPORT COMMENTS

I hope this petition hits Congress. It is not fair for individuals such as me having to pay somebody else's child support, when legal the child isn't mine, nor do I know the party that I am supposedly fathering. Department of Child Support Program doesn't help men out. All it is is putting your social security number sit in the lobby go to the cuticle present paperwork. For them to tell you you still have to pay until the court cleared it. But that's what I've been straining to tell you people I haven't been to court. I have had a DNA, confirming that the child isn't mines. Mind you I never received any paperwork from the Courthouse or Child Support Services {THE STATE} stating that I had to come in and get hold of any DNA test. I voluntarily started on my owDid my own study. And now I am stuck with a $26,000 bill that clearly doesn't belong to me. To be honest, it sounds like fraud. Not the party in question. But the Child Support Department.. How can you illegally sign my signature on any document. Without having a physical body there. say any name on child support ,beat the case, and still pay.REPORT COMMENTS

My x wife makes $25K a year more than me yet I have to pay almost $2K per month for two kids. We share custody and the kids spend a lot of time with me. With support her gross income is almost double mine, how is this fair. It allows her to thrive financially and save money when I have had to reduce my 401K contributions just to make end meet. The worse part of it all is in Massachusetts child support goes until the kids are 23!REPORT COMMENTS

I also think its unfair for the father to pay child support when he takes care of his child regardless of court order and has his child(ren) half the time or even more than the mothers. If the parents have them half the time the mother should at least pay child support as well to help the father out when the child(ren) is in the fathers care.REPORT COMMENTS
