I am a city employee and far from being a deadbeat father. My two children are with me three times A WEEK. I am struggling to make ends meet. I had to take out loans so I can pay off my debt because of the amount of child support being taking out. I'm trying to avoid claiming bankruptcy. I figured it's better to have no money and good credit than having no money and bad credit. But I'm getting to the point where I am going to have to claim bankruptcy. The mother of my two children took me to child support less than two years ago and they awarded her child support on the basis of the 5,000 of overtime money I made on top of my base salary. I have little expenses now and Im still struggling to make ends meet and to be with my children. Since she took me to child support the mother of my children has NOT WORKED had another child with someone else who lives with her illegally cause she lives in sudsidized housing. Her rent is based on her salary thats why he's not on the lease. She put my children in catholic school. she collects WIC for her new born. I know all this because my children tell me. Less than two years later she took me back for more child support claiming her finance has changed. I tought she had to wait three years before she can take me back for more money. Nothing forseen or unexpected has changed in her lifestyle. The magistrate said to me it doesn't matter she can take me back to court every year if she wants. I had made an extra 5,000 this year for a total of 10,,000 since two years ago so I can make up for the child support money taking out already based non guaranteed overtime. She took me back to court to get more money and she is awarded more money just cause, without any proof of anything. I told the magistrate I struggle and begg for overtime in my job so I can I have money to pay my bills. Like all companies they're making cut backs and it's getting hard to make overtime. I try to show the magistrate my bills she didn't care to see them. She told me to work more overtime or get another job. Great answer so the mother of my children can take me back for more money without her having to work and just make more babies. If i did that I wouldn't be able to spend time with my children cause I'll be too busy working. I guess money is more important to the child support system than actually being able to be an involved father in your childrens' life. For two years now I've been struggling with child visitations cause she contests everything. I'm fighting to see and be with my children in court. But when she takes me for more money she is granted it all the time in one court hearing. Im being forced to walk away from my children cause I cannot afford to financially fight for my visitations and financially take care of my children when they are with me. thing that kills me is they charge me for money I already paid and then charge me more interest then my damn child support. I feel.like im being robbed every damn week. its bullcrap and we have to be out money.all the time because when they mess up they.say if u dont like it take, use to court knowing they take. all my money and I cant afford a lawyer. some one please help meREPORT COMMENTS

NJ laws need to change. Get with the ages and do as others. Child support should end at 18, period. My son is 23 years old and I am still paying support till this day. I got Divorced, and have 2 children with the man. Also I have one that is not his who is 4 and have to live with my mom to be home with him as to I am a single parent and get 100.00 a month from his father. When I got divorced from the other 2's dad, He makes 20.00 an hr. and I havent had a job in years and am awaiting a decision from ssi. Yet, they ordered me back pay on support and set support at minimum wage. Why he needs more money to care for them, and why I was stuck with back pay when I wasnt working and was awaiting for an answer from ssi, I have no clue........Its beyond me. How can I come to provide for the needs in my household already when disabled (rather proven to be or not, I am limited) AND be able to be home with my son who is full time and with my others as well during visitation? If I do not get ssi I am going to have to deal with the breakdown of work, support, daycare for my son, gas to and from work, have no food assistance, and not even being around for any of them or thier school functions due to the possibility of having to work 40 hrs plus go to school just to get a grip in it all. Just how is that what is BEST for any of thekids?!!! It isnt!!! I am more than money in thier lives and yet the system makes it to where we are unable to be anything but money or else we go to jail for non-payments which also is not best for the kids...something should really be done..if not for the adults then focus on the kids involved. Is time with a child more important or is money more important? There is no balance. This needs balancing. Thanks!REPORT COMMENTS

I pay 1100 dollars a month for two kids in Oklahoma, my oldest son been with me for two year going to Cache High School . The day my son came to Oklahoma I took him down to DHS with school transcript and hired a Lawyer to get my case modified, That's been two years ago, he will graduate this May 2013. My Ex wife have not payed a penny in child support for my son, if I miss a payment they will put me in jail.I am not asking for any pitty or hand outs. Having three young children, and losing a job, the judge refuses to adjust the outrageously high child support payment ! He'll "take it under advisement" What sort of fascist bull is this ???? The $300/wk c.s. pmt for just one of the children is more than the income of the father ! I'm really surprised to NOT be reading in the newspaper on a daily basis that men have gone POSTAL over this injustice. Oh sure, there's PLENTY of coverage about "dead beat dads". Hmmm, I wonder how many of them simply can't afford the payments and the judges refuse to make them reasonable. I am SO tired of hearing about the "poor" moms, give me a break. I AM a mom, and I am fully aware that there is a war against men in the massachusetts family court system. I have personally witnessed the most reprehansible behavior by women making false accusations, filing restraining orders ie: "no contact", "stop abuse" claiming their life is in danger when they themselves are the abusers. The courts, and the lawyers are all playing a game at the expense of the father's of these children of divorce. So, it's all about money. How many times can they make you go to court paying the court fees, the lawyer fees, not serving justice one IOTA. The financial stress, the mental and emotional stress created by this abortion they call due process certainly leaks down to the children involved. But hey, like I said,, IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MONEYREPORT COMMENTS

I recently went to an extortion (Child support) hearing. They were not interested on what it costs me to live. I am basically homeless living in hotels trying to relocate and the ex decided to file for support. I went in there with all my financial records including the receipts to prove I had been paying her as we agreed. That snied little snot (Female go figure) basically told me that I had no say, I can't claim my kids on my tax return even though I have to pay through the nose $800 friggin dollars a month! I got treated like garbage. So you get punished for having a good job. Something needs done because this system sucks the life right out of you and you can't live! I asked them "How do you expect me to live?" I got told "Not my problem. Get another job." Ya sure I only put in a total of 13 hours every day if you include commuting time.REPORT COMMENTS

Child support is needed but as a father who paid child support and now owning the IRS back taxes on income that was being hit with 41% before tax child support . And losing out on having a real relationship with my children is simply put ridiculous . The system is set up to penalize fathers for not being with the mother of their children . And for the life of me I can't understand how the custodial parent can receive the money but the provider is taxed on it with no end or breaks . I have watched my husband get screwed over by Lauderdale County dhr in alabama for the past 12 years, and we now find out that yet again he is going to get screwed. He has over paid on children that should have been taken off 5 years ago and we have found out that he will not get his over payment because he is the one paying it. tell me how that is fair! if his ex wife was due back payment she would get it but the one paying no that is just messed up in so many waysREPORT COMMENTS
