The system has been one sided for many years. As I found out during my support case. It should be 50/50 not 80/20 where the male is responsible for almost everything. Make it even and you will see a lot more collabritation between both parents.

I pay support as well as being a single father. However, the courts in Illinois could care less. Very unfair to the fathers.

I believe that children should be supported by both parents however our current child support laws are unfair to fathers. When my husband was unemployed the courts would not reduce his child support to his ex-wife. We had 2 kids at the time and I was pregnant. I was a high risk pregnancy and working as much as I could because we couldn't afford to put food on the table. The court didn't care that my husband had 2 children with me and that he had a pregnant wife. I lost my car because we couldn't afford the payments and I had to go to the local food pantry to feed my kids. All the while she takes her 2 children on a trip to Hawaii. We just filed bankruptcy about 5 months ago due to all the debt that we could not keep up with. A man should at least get to put their child support on their taxes. How is fair that the women gets all that money tax free and gets to go on all those trips. Now she is trying to force us to pay for their daughters college education when we have 4 kids who are all 7 and under. So basically I have to pay what little money we have so her daughter can get this high end private school education and I have no money left for my 4 children. What about my children? The court only cares about them if we are divorced. How is that helping my kids? Its not. Please we need to do something about these unfair laws so that all children can have an equal standard of living.

Things like driver's licenses & any type of professional license should be off limits if payments aren't made. Jail isn't necessary either. Too many women have multiple babies with multiple men & make a career of collecting support.

I am like all the people who signed this petition tired of being taken advantage of. New Jersey is known to have some of the worse child support cases. The judge told my ex wife and I that there is a "daddy's law" in New Jersey that pretty much states a father is "equal" to the mother. I have my children 3 nights out of the week and still pay $600 a month in child support because I have a full-time job and mom has a part-time job. She is fully capable to work a full-time job but still works part-time. So the court is telling me we EQUALLY make decisions in our kids' lives by saying we have joint custody. The court tells us we EQUALLY get to see the kids with shared parenting time but we don't have EQUAL financial responsibility. I have to pay the $600 and then still have financial obligations while I have them for the 3 nights the same way she does. If we are equal shouldn't she have to work full-time the same way I do? On top of all of this, the court system makes countless mistakes (usually in the mom's favor) and you never see the money again because they refuse to fix them. I have turned in a year's worth of statements showing I never missed a daycare payment and today sit over $500 in arrears because the court says I haven't been paying. Did anyone actually look at my statements? You call a million times and everyone tells you it'll be fixed and weeks later nothing happens and you end up giving up. I can go on forever and have plenty of people going through similar and in some cases worse scenarios. Something must be done. Please everyone get everyone to sign this petition.

I pay child support and totally understand it and believe it to be necessary. I have been paying $362 a month for 9 years. 2 years ago I took a job with another company there is suppose to be 2 employees in the area I serve but when have not been able to hire someone for the last 12 months therefore I have gotten all the work in my area. I work on commission so 2012 was a good year. I just got ordered to pay $1082 a month because of one could year. Because of this I live on the edge of poverty even though I make good money. The courts told him to remove my son from my insurance and for his mother to place him on Kancare. She also is allowed to be on food assistants. Really??? All that Im paying and she still needs taxpayers assistants. That's the government for you!!!

Child Support is an avenue for BITTER HURT women to wreak pain & misery on MOST fathers. Notice I said "MOST". Most women ABUSE the child support system and there isn't a damn thing being done about it. It's BIG BUSINESS and too many people stand to lose if the laws are modified.

I am a woman paying child support (it's not just men struggling) and I have two children prior to the children that I am paying the support for. I have a good job that should allow me to pay support and also care for my two boys that are living with me but because they are taking so much from me and also I am paying for the medical insurance I was court order to supply I cannot afford to properly care for the two children I have living with me. I'm afraid if I try to modify the support they will take even more from me. I used the states child support calculator and it adjusted my support 100 dollars more a month! I make 25 dollars an hour and am bringing home less than minimum wage already! He has not had a job in over 3 years and the kids are all school age. Why doesn't he have to help? I am soley supporting two households and have two boys who I cannot even buy shoes for. It's really unfair that all of the responsibility is put on one parent.

I think it is just wrong that someone who is trying to better themselves should have to go broke every two weeks after paying a lazy mother who would rather just live off of the state and party all day long. The child support conditions need to be looked over and made to be fair. People who abuse the system and choos not to work because the state will pay for everything for them and yet here is the father barely getting by. What example are you setting to these kids by letting their mothers live off of the state. It is going to create more lazy people and unemployment is going to go down because the state will pay for whatever you want. Don't you think that the state would consider a father who wants to make something of himself and not break him every pay. Its sad because the state does not care either because they get a cut of it so it is pretty much free money into their greedy pockets. I will write a letter everyday until something is done even if it takes years I DO NOT CARE my money goes into your geedy hands anyway.

It's time for both parents to take equal responsibility for the child. The women that goes to court, that are unemployed, so that the man will have to pay more in Child Support is fraud in general. The courts will look at a mans paystub, and if they deem him to be able to make more money, then his Child Support is based on what he's capable of making. Well if the woman is unemployed, couldn't the courts do the same. The courts could look at her job history, and if none still enforce her to vocational programs, and before she completes the program, base what program she is going into, and let that be her half of the child support.

I am a single mother of 2. In my state, I get $512 per month of child support, $352 per month after considering the reimbursement of my full payment of my children's portion of medical insurance. Under the same circumstances, the child support payment in Massachusetts is over $2,400. I am proud to be able to support my children on my income, and I have worked hard to do so. I also know and have lived what it takes to raise two children, and I know that, at least in Massachusetts, it is clearly a check to the mother under most circumstances. There is no obligation for her to even spend this excessive amount on the children. Why would Massachusetts establish such unfair and unjust support guidelines? Because they are getting paid to do so, from the Federal Government, under Title IV. Title IV was intended to incentivize states to collect child support from "dead beat dads". What it did was create an incentive to maximize the transfer of funds from one parent (almost always the father) to the other parent (almost always the mother) and continue it as long as possible. States get a kickback on the revenue collected. Massachusetts figured this out, and has the highest "child" support in the nation, and continues the support through age 23 (so long as the child is enrolled in school - does not have to live with the recipient parent!). California also figured this out, but did not reach as far as Massachusetts. In Massachusetts, there is a severe funding shortage in the court system (mismanagement) and this federal kickback means more than $50M/year to the state. Please check it out. Thanks!

Our Supreme court decide that no child should be left as a "Bastard", and therefore the non custodial parent(s) should be made to support the child. However the taxation and calulation is that income is what should be considered, Since a person only recieves his/her net income, than the net income would have been what was used to support the child, not the gross. In addition, the bias tax law which allows the recieve party to recieve the income tax free, yet the paying party can not take a tax deduction, or recieve credit for the child. Thus credit an adverse penalty for the non custodial parent. The system, while meaning to create balance, thus creates a inherit bias. They justify this by saying , that not in all cases the person is a women.and by ruling that: A child should not be seperated from there biological mother unless.... However the Judical code of conduct says:A judge shall not, in the performance of judicial duties, by words or conduct manifest bias or prejudice, or engage in harassment, including but not limited to bias, prejudice, or harassment based upon race, SEX, GENDER, religion, national origin, ethnicity, disability, age, sexual orientation, Martial Status, socioeconomic status. What a double standard.

Child support is just that...To support the child! Too many men are unable to support their children and themselves while the Mother/ex-wife is enjoying herself at the expense of the Father/ex-husband. My son works 70-80 hours a week at $9/hr and after taxes, etc.and child support he has $150 a week to live on. Consequently, he lives with me and is only able to help with a minimal amount of household expenses. I live on Social Security Disability and I am being stretched beyond my limits. Mean while, my ex-daughter in law goes to a hotel room with a hot tub and fireplace in the suite which has a second room for the 3 children and she does this at least twice a month. She receives about $600 in food stamps, medicaid, and $1350 in Social security benefits for 2 of the children for disabilities. These children do have eligible disabilities but the kids are now 11 and 13 and do not require her for any special needs that any other adult or day care cannot provide. The youngest child is 8 years old. I do not understand why the State of Michigan does not require her to work. She does not make her Mortgage payments or her car payments. I do not understand how she qualifies for the services she receives, ie; food stamps. She should be made to provide at least 1/3 of the children's support by getting a job. The children are all in school a full day, do not have any special needs that require her to preform and she is able to work and has 2 certificate degrees from a JR. College. Fair is fair! They BOTH had these children together. She does bear more of the physical burden as the custodial parent there for the 1/3 share of their financial support. My son has always paid his child support in full/on time. He takes full advantage of his parenting time. I do not believe it is just that he works 75% of his waking hours, cannot afford to even have his own studio apt. while she lives the life of luxury and receives benefits from welfare to boot when she is totally able to contribute to their financial welfare.

For all you guys out there that think it is just men I have news for you. My son went into the custody of the state for his own screw ups on a PINS. Both his father and myself went to court today and if DSS had not made a deal with me I would have been paying almost $600 per month to the state. For 14 years all I got from my ex was $38 per week for 2 kids. In court the judge didn't even care that I am the only one supporting a family of 6. I have mortgage, car payment and 3 other kids to take care of. If they had taken the 17% I would have been walking into the welfare office because I would have qualified. The judges need to earn their paycheck and do some figuring for other circumstances and realize that everyone has to live and if their are other kids in the home they are hurting them because of a child that couldn't behave since the laws have parents hands tied and can't punish the kid for their actions. Jus tone great big steam roller.
