I pay $1,000 a month for my 16 and 19 year old sons whom I only get to see a few hours a week. Husband took me for child support and even though they spend just as much time with me as they did him, because they slept at his house more, I have to pay 1,000 a month, needless to say I can't afford a place of my own now and I only get to see them for a few hours a week because I had to move to the city and out of the district in order to survive...It's just not right. I was married for 18 years and just because I don't want to be with him anymore, I am being punished. It's really sad. -

I see both points from men and women. The laws, this that and the other, blah blah blah. Its not just the men who are being taken advantage of. I am a mother of 3. My oldest son I lost for being young and unkowledgable. Meaning lost custody and rights were terminated. My second oldest turning 18 this year and have not seen him since he was 7. No fault of mine. The court said I could not see him and my rights were terminated. Again being young and stupid. I love my two boys, but what really upsets me is the fact the father is a lazy jerk, smokes weed daily, and wants me to pay child support. Assuming to help his habbit. Besides the point, after numerous times asking why is he coming after me for support, I get no replies. Not even from my son when I send him bday cards, etc. Last conversation with my son was " who are you, my mom is dead". Real nice brain washing my son D.H. Anyway, he turns eighteen this year and I'm on disability. I have A spine injury as well nerve damage. I am not able to work and get a small disabilty check every month. 486 to be exact. My only income! Don't get ssi, so how the heck can you tell me 15% is being taken to support my son, for at which my rights were terminated, the father clearly knows this, secondly how can a dead mother pay support????? The laws are messed up. Not EVERYONE IS OUT TO SCREW THE GOVERNMENT! Something needs to be done rather mother or father doesn't matter, it is blindly not justified to take sides as well as going with one or the other. Its not fair that these kids get brain washed and either parent can not see there kids. What's wrong with this world! Selfish greedy freakin idiots. I have my right of freedom of speech and its bs! Get your act together.REPORT COMMENTS

I am paying past due support and have been for 10 years. My aunt has custody, worked a full time job and collected TANF check and half my child support money. The other half went to repaying the state for her getting a check. Every year the amount owed is different. One year it's more the next less and the next a lot more. My ex is also repaying it. They garnish my wages, take my federal and state refund every year and every time I miss one payment they suspend my license and then I have to pay thousands to get them to give them back plus $35 processing fee. The money was never used on the kids. Anytime they asked for a couple dollars she would tell them no. I have other children that I'm not able to get hslf ofwhat they need because I pay so much. I haven't had a refund chrck in over 10 years. The aunt gets half and the state gets the other half plus she gets to claim the kids and gets back on that. I don't think they should suspend your license because everyone has hard times and if you miss a payment you are further behind paying someone tp take you to work. They shouldn't be able to take your entire refunds either. We have earned that money and it just gets sent to people who don't need it so why even bothet working?REPORT COMMENTS

My husband has been fighting in a Tucson, AZ court for months now to modify custody of his son. His son's mother is not looking out for his best interest, she didn't enroll him in school until Oct since then he has missed 9+ days and how is being reviewed for retention due to attendance and lack of work. His son came to live with us last year because he was again put on the retention list due to attendance and lack of work in her custody. He passed the 6th grade only missed 1/2 day of school and was looking forward to coming back this year when his mother didn't like the idea that she wasn't going to get child support because my husband was going to put a change in residence of him. So instead she kept him and now has put him back in the same situation. Since all this has happened my husband has hired an attorney to fight for him and to get custody of his son and the court system in Tucson, AZ is horrible. They drag their feet; keep pushing his case to different judges and they can't even get in front of a judge because no one down there knows what is going on in the case. She has never reported an income since day one and since then has purchased a house with her husband and has her own daycare business. She has violated her court ordered agreement, she is suppose to hold insurance on him and she has put him on Ahcccs(Assisted health plan), now Ahcccs is coming after my husband to put him on medical. She openly admitted to my husband that putting him on her husband plan is too expensive. Is that what child support is for?? Just saying? I thought that child support is there to help offset financial hardship for the other parent. So now "we" hold insurance for him and my husband still pays the same amount in child support but makes less money and she gets away with still collecting money she doesn't deserve. She doesn't want to pay for his co-pays she expects my husband to. She is always interfering in their relationship. She will not allow my husband to talk to his son who is 13 years old without being on speaker or she will mute the other phone so that she can hear their conversation. She has been warned by the mediation court that she can?t do that but she still continues. She has totally dismisses all authority and her favorite saying is ?I have sole custody so I can do whatever I want,? I think that sole custody has given mother the since of false superiority over fathers. They shouldn?t get to do whatever they want when it comes to interfering with the father?s relationship with the child. It?s wrong and the courts are handing out sole custody to mother?s like its candy. My husband?s last visit with his son was only 15 minutes long because she had to pick him up where they were eating dinner. Her excuse is that she can't trust my husband from brain washing his son. When she is the one that is causing all the emotional abuse that his son is going through. His son has came up to Phoenix, AZ on a few visits and cried becaREPORT COMMENTS

This is a great petition. Why are woman just given the majority of custody in the first place? Do they love the kids more than fathers? Maybe if we consider the all of youth in juvenile hall or troubled in general and how many of those youth had a solid bond with their fathers growing up we would reconsider just giving moms all the time with the children. Americas youth needs their fathers!REPORT COMMENTS

I find the child support laws to be very biased towards men (and I'm a MOM.) I'm not saying that men shouldn't support their children (they should.) But what the law makes a man pay is outrageous as it's usually double and at times triple what the ACTUAL cost of the child is for the month. I firmly believe that raising a child should be split 50/50 with finances and the way the law is set up now they have the absent father covering for way more than their share.REPORT COMMENTS

Just got my child support order today and it is $320 a month. I make $9.24 an hour with at most 40 hours per week (if I'm lucky that is), giving me a gross pay of 1478.40. I don't have health insurance because my job charges, ironically, $375 a month to cover myself and my daughter. My bills are $350 a month for my vehicle, $105 for insurance, $578 for rent, and electricity usually runs about $100 to $130 a month (everything here runs off electricity, even heat). This doesn't even take into consideration that I have school loans (which can't be paid now), medical bills (which won't be paid now), and of course food and personal items for myself. My total for bills is basically $1,133. I don't see how I can pay this ridiculous amount and still survive myself. Essentially I will lose my car due to repossession because I won't have money to pay the note. I will then lose my job because there are no busses that run out there. I will then be evicted because I can't pay my rent without a job. The system is rigged to deprive citezens of their humanity. It's sickening that foreigners can come here with their families and gain all types of support and benefits while I tried to apply for welfare and got DENIED, saying I make too much since they don't take into consideration your bills or that you are paying child support.REPORT COMMENTS

Please see amendment 13 of the constitution. Peonage[20] Refers to a person in "debt servitude," or involuntary servitude tied to the payment of a debt. Involuntary servitude[21] Refers to a person held by actual force, threats of force, or threats of legal coercion in a condition of slavery ? compulsory service or labor against his or her will. This also includes the condition in which people are compelled to work against their will by a "climate of fear" evoked by the use of force, the threat of force, or the threat of legal coercion (i.e., suffer legal consequences unless compliant with demands made upon them) which is sufficient to compel service against a person's will. Forced labor[23] Labor or service obtained by: the abuse or threatened abuse of law or the legal process. By taking 55% of a persons paycheck for any reason you are causing Peonage, then enforcing it with Involuntary Servitude and Forced Labor. It is not lawful to take over half of anyone's income this is PEONAGE. By doing so you are causing any and all individuals to be in unwillful debt and by enormous amounts to another person(s). Then you refuse to take into consideration that every adult must maintain shelter, food, heat, electricity, water and transportation to survive for themselves, let alone for their children. These are all necessities that MUST be maintained for one's own survival. Therefore ALL parents should work to provide these. You do not fully enforce the others parties responsibilities to support the children as well, causing Involuntary servitude of the paying party. You then refuse to ask proof of where the money is going and refuse to allow the payer to ask for statements, receipts, etc of where the money for their children is going. You refuse to give guidelines as to what is acceptable/ and unacceptable expenses/care of the children. Refuse to allow a payer to bring legal process against the payee for any unproven/misuse of the support for the children. Yet enforce against the payee with unfair amounts and terms for back child support, collection of support, etc. An example of this is that you will cause an unemployed payer 5000 dollars of unpaid back child support if laid off etc. Yet you will not ask payee why did you need $600 in child support this month. Where did it go? The government ruins ones credit while paying for another's generous lifestyle and never questions why our debt is so high? They also never consider that the children while needing cared for, also need and want both parents. And while they offer programs to help counsel the parents to get along, everything in the support and even custody guidelines, work against this. They still require one primary parent even when/ if two are available. One person must choose to work multiple jobs or enter poverty because of a misguided system(s). While the other sits comfortably at home. One runs the risk of starving/homelessness etc while the other is proviREPORT COMMENTS

I definitely dont understand why Child support is is so unfair to fathers. Ive noticed that the judges and mediators favor the mother the most. Mother's tend to give there sob story so the court can feel sorry for them. My boyfriend is currently going through custody issues with his ex. She states she is going to breastfeed until the baby boy is 2yrs and refuses to breast pump which cuts down on my own time with my son. She also lies about her income since she is in cosmetology and doesnt report her income to the IRS. All this proof that she makes way more money than she clams and the judges dont seem to see it. How can this be resolved? Were can fathers go to get help without getting an attorney?REPORT COMMENTS

Ok I'm lost on the whole child support. It is not fair to those who pay child support and has no tax breaks. The support is used to help take care of the child so therefore person is paying for either school supplies, clothes, food day care, etc and is not eligible to claim the child for any tax right offs or the child tax credit. The payee gets tax free money plus all the benefits of the child tax credit, and the EIC credit. Also most likely on government assistant. So tons of government free money is being tossed around out there to those who really don't need it. We are all hurting out here. I feel that those who collect support should have to claim that income and those who pay should be able to use it as a write off when doing taxes. Not sure on much it will help with eccomny. But it will get people to go out find jobs and not rely on the government welfare. We pay taxes to help those who are in need not those who are lazy. Some women will get pregnant on purpose. I'm not saying 2 people shouldn't support the child but it isn't fair that one parents get free money all the tax breaks, while the other parent pays, is taxed on it and is titled to any tax write offs. Maybe child support should be based off net income and the one who gets it should claim it as income for their taxes. I know it there is a way to make it fair for both parents and still remains in the best interest for the child.REPORT COMMENTS
