CHILD SUPPORT LAWS ARE COMPLETELY UNFAIR TO THE NON-CUSTODIAL PARENT! 55% OF MY EARNINGS GO TO CHILD SUPPORT I HAVE 2 JOBS, ONLY BECAUSE THERE ARENT ENOUGH HOURS IN THE DAY TO TAKE ON ANOTHER JOB OR ELSE I WOULD. I CANT EVEN AFFORD TO PAY RENT OR MY CAR PAYMENT. MEANWHILE SHE IS REMARRIED HAS 2 OTHER KIDS, WAS ABLE TO PURCHASE A HOME AND A BRAND NEW CAR A TIME SHARE AND TAKES REGULAR VACATIONS. AND I'M FUNDING IT! NOT FAIR!!!!! -

I am a true believer in child support. I was a divorced mother with Two boys i worked at a full time job and then went to my second job to make ends meet. I received good child support but it was difficult, i wanted a decent place to live and raise my sons. But in the past 11 years i have watched my son who is single and never married pay child support which i stressed for him to be responsible. This was all setup through the atty generals office since there was no marriage and a certain amount of child support was deducted each month he had a very good job and worked evertime they asked him to, lots of overtime wages....after 3 years the atty generals office called the childs mother and said that she needed to review child support that he was making alot more money. (This was what she told him) So she did and is now and has been getting 800.00 per month for the past four years or so. He has in this time frame lost a vehicle and a house and is currently living with me after child support he rec each week appx 320.00, thats 1280.00 per month with appx rent around 600.00, electric @ 100.00 water 100.00 fuel to get back and forth to work 90 to 100.00 per week there is not much left for food and basic needs. And in the meantime i watch as the child comes and goes in cloths that are too little shoes that stink and worn out! But the mom she is lookin good....oh and she has two other children by two other men, married another man who adopted the other two children, divorced him and is gettin child support from him too im sure and has another man already. And i watch my son who cant even afford to buy cloths for himself and couldnt go on a date if he wanted to. There is something wrong with a system that makes responsible people become poor while others reproduce and flourish from it. Oh and she is going to college and is now going to remarry and move 2 1/2 hours away so he has to drive there to pick her up on his weekends. Some would say get an attorney .....he cant afford one! And this woman treats the child's father, my son with no respected! But doesn't mind taking his money every month and spending it. And last but not least he changed jobs about a year ago and of course didnt get a paycheck for about a month and some odd days, so was behind on child support so when he went and filed his income tax , which he doesn't get to use his child as a deduction either, they told him what amount he was going to get back ,that was going to be used to get new tires. Yep, she got most of that too ....unbelievable! Makes me wonder why there are so many deadbeat dads!REPORT COMMENTS

Ive got most of yall beat. My ex and I keep the kids same amount of time. I work in the oilfield so im gone 2 weeks at a time.but when I get home I get my kids. But the courts think I should pay her 1500 a month. Yep thats right 1500 for 2 weeks!!! Where is she footing any money on them. She lives with her grandma she only recently got a job just so she could do this. Her last 2 jobs she before this she lost because she couldn't keep up with her meth pipe.the courts a disgusting!REPORT COMMENTS

The mother of my kids is 27 and she doesnt work she colects food stamps .check this out welfair puts me on child support i payed for 5 years straight while i was goin to barbering school i lost my job i couldnt fin no job child support was piling up i owd about 1000 around that time they take my license to drive and they took my right to get a barbers license to know anwer this how am i going to get what my kids need if child suppirt took my kids futur away know the mother of my kids lays down allll day lazy receiving food stamps that why i dont send nothing cause she spends it on her weed and alchol what i do is i buy there needs and then i send it to my kids that way i know my kids get what they need im a very good father and i know theres alot of good fathers out there it just these stupid child support laws they take a good father future wayREPORT COMMENTS

Child support laws need to be changed. Why can't you deduct it from taxes this should be part of the child tax credit. It should be calculated after tax dollars and the other parent should be required to get a job. Change these laws.REPORT COMMENTS

My fiance has been paying a substantial amount of child support for the past four years since his divorce. Now his ex has a new baby (with a different father) and still no job and wants him to pay even more money. Because there previous arranngent was less than the 29% standard percentage he will now be required to pay $1,600/month while she isnt even required to look for a job. While we wont be able to support ourselves despite having fairly goid jobs she gets to live it up on our hard earned money! Where is the equality in that and where is the motivation to keep being responsible productive parents and members of society?!? These child support laws definately favor mothers and really need to be updated!!!!REPORT COMMENTS

how a father that is in the military that pays voluntary child support now through a divorce, he is not allowed to see his kid and the mom expect him to pay $$$ ..when everybody knows a soldier does not make that much money..plus serving in the military does not help him in the case?you could be a good dad but the law screw you anyway!! some mother use their kids just to get back to their ex..REPORT COMMENTS

I am a father who does everything I can to make sure I pay my child support. After twelve years I have incured 7,000 in arrears. At a 12% yearly interest rate it brings it to over 13,000 dollars. All my paycheck goes to child support and the money I due earn threw tips pays all my bills. I can't afford I hire an attorney to help me fight and I make to much to qualify for legal assistance. She gets the support of the state and I get nothing. there is no equal justice under the current laws.REPORT COMMENTS

The system is set up in the woman's favor. Whenever u see professional athletes or entertainers that are no longer able to create an income & are still expected to pay child support like they were when they were making @ the start of their careers. When they won't allow them to modify their child support, u know we the common folk don't stand a chance. I had a friend that owed 20 grand I back support & he is a vet that just got his full IU from the VA & with that came back pay from the time he filed his claim. He called & offered to pay a 10,000 chunk to pay off his rears & get his license back & they told him no. With that being said, who would not want someone to accept that kind of money if if it was owed to them??? The system is broke!!!REPORT COMMENTS

I just put my comment. And yes im still drinking a 40. I put out that im rich What i mean by that is im rich becuase i have you all n you all got me too. We r all in this together n its not good. But hey atleast your not the only one. Ive called my congressman the state attourney washington DC only to be transferd becuase they didnt want to hear it the news. All of them ive called everyone that my brain could think of n no answers. But you all answered me. all doors closed. Man i never even had credit. Ive been in the payee system since i was 19 Maybe thats a good thing. I see all these people hurting that they may loose there cars n home. Damn i paid mine cash i aint got no credit commoNnn. Hell i cant even get welfare They say i make too much last year. Yah i did try. Why not I pay for it anyways. Dam i do understand now. But its been a long journey Ive had about 6 months of checks that said VOID due to the welfare taking them but that was in 1998 Oh yah i did the right thing i notified the welfare where i was to do the right thing. We are concentrating too much on the X. The real problem is what motivates. Excuse my spelling Yah i drank a 40. I deserve to .After 18 yrs of this Its ok. I still am afloat. N handleing my family affaires I used to put in 120 hrs aweek for the past 10 yrs i didnt even know my kids. Or my dog But all in all im STILL DAD remarried to an exellent woman. To all us parents out there. Stay parent Dont go out the wrong way. You know what i mean i didnt know all this was going on THIS way i always thought i was the one in a few. We R Parents. Theres anouther petition Under. Petition for child support reform. I see the dates on these. There old Are they still valid?i too took my case to court. It didnt go anyware. The lawyer ASKED me what to do. At first she was all out n seen it as a good case. 30,000 in areers with payment documents that i was garnished over 39,000 just in a 5 yr span. So how could i possibly owe that much. The case got audited n set for trial. She informed me. That the court wouldnt take out of state documentation. So she basicly quit my case. Trial is still set No lawyer. She even erased the 700 i owed her. If i would of known what i know now i would of Never taken this case to court In the prosess everything went left. Now i pay 3 xs more on support Check out the other petition n read it he explained what we r really dealing with. I advise who ever set up these petitions Do it again. N all of US do our part n share your experience n get these Signitures. Its our survival. N the wellbeing of our children. Theres way too many of us in this situation to be asleep. get up we cant lay down Forget the X Its more then that. Ive been paying since 1995. I pay child support for my son (700) month and he doesn't even live in the same state. Spent a fortune trying to prevent the move but unfortunately the dad always gets the shaft of the law since its geared very unfairly towards women. These biase and discriminating laws have got to change!!!!! Not only do I pay support, but I am also required to provided everything for my son (wardrobe etc...) even while payin the 700 a month to his mother who I guarantee does not spend that money on my child and instead purchases a new car every 2 years, when suposedly she claims she does not even have a job. Child support laws in IL are in desperate need of updating. Custodial Parents receive a check with absolutely no accountability as to how it's spent. It doesn't have to be spent on the children and it doesn't even get questioned. It should be put in a system on a card that can only be spent on certain things for the children only....not to be used for a new pool at custodial parent's home or a new vehicle. Furthermore, like other states should factor in the time and income with both parents. I have my children nearly half of the time, pay half of every other expenses for them including insurance, daycare, copays, etc...and yet still pay the custodial parent. For what??! To spend how they choose and never get questioned. This is an unfair system and needs to change asap.REPORT COMMENTS

I love my daughter and would do anything in the world to provide her the best life. That being said - after I was a victim of the old bait and switch and after my wife at the time had me move across the country to a no-fault divorce state I am very willing to sign this petition. I was duped and my ex wife took full advantage of my government salary and benefits. I pay over $1,100 for my one daughter/month while my ex does not work. Actually she does have a very part time job but its under the table. So I get taxed but she is earning her own whilst skipping her own taxes and completely off the record. Child support is based upon both parents earnings and she provided the courts with a big 0. There is no way my daughter needs all that money especially since I get her EVERY weekend. It's absolutely unreal how this system is set up. While my ex and many more sit at home collecting I go to work 40 hours a week, sit in traffic and am subject to random drug testing. I unwillingly lost privaleges to see MY child following a divorce all because my wife duped me and traded me in for her next toy...REPORT COMMENTS
