Got a fine to pay because of it it now. 4 years ago I was 150000 a year. Now I don't have a job.and Noway to get one. I've had all opertuntiy to get good jobs. Suspending driver's licenses is completely counterproductive. Most child support enforcement methods will violate a person's civil rights but no one wants to address these life-wrecking problems. Family law is in desperate need of reform, but with the government giving the state's incentives, $.66 for every dollar collected in child support via wage attachment, I don't see this resolving anytime soon when corrupt state officials and judges have secured bloated pensions from this incentive. Way to go family suppirt division for making imposdible to get caught up. The ability to drive is how people obtain employment. Not everyone lives in metro areas with public transport. ***Let me start by saying that the term "dead beat dads" is not at all relevant at all! There are more "dead beat dads" living with and having custody of their children than those who do not. Also, this term not only could define a dad but a mother as well. Nobody has any right or place to put such a nasty label on a person just bc a parent is not the custodial parent and/or not paying child support. No one knows what the next non-custodial parent is and/or has gone through preventing them from paying their support. I realize that there are some parents who just do not care and just glide on through life without paying a dime or very little at all. Those are the ones that give us all a bad name and that screws everybody when it comes down to it. I too, am a non-custodial parent that is not currently paying any child support and have not paid a dime in atleast a year. Why? My license have been suspended, the local (small town law enforcement) harrass the hell out of me and know my vehicle and DO look for it, and bc the other parent (custodial parent) has not ever in the past and still dont today support, raise and/or uphold what defines a custodial parent BUT the support money is paid to that parent and the kids or the grandparents (who raised them n supported them) ever see a dime. I have a problem with that in a bad way. I am capable of working for the most part and hate that TENNESSEE has such ignorant laws when it comes to child support. *I am not sure if this still is today but if it is.... A parent not paying support that is locked up in jail is not required to pay nor responsible for support for the days in which is incarcerated. Crazy huh?!? What if we all just come together, go to jail and hey have "3 hots and a cot"..... Its not fair for local tax payers but there has to be a way to get some kind of leniency on this. Its very stressful and has haf me beyond depressed. Almost considered signing rights to my children over just to relieve me of it. Thats not at all fair to my kids. I live in a small town and going to court to fight all of this ia pointless bc its all about who u are here. And DAVID KELLEY, the DISTRICT ATTORNEY for this area is a straight up DICK AND DESERVES TO EAT OFF OF A******COVERED FLOOR for how he treats and talks to non-custodial parents not making their payments. I don't understand how they keep accumulating the support and expect a person who isn't working to somehow come out from under that. How can a person be expected to pay upwards of $50,000 when they don't have stead employment? Even with steady employment, the children will be well into adulthood before that debt can be met. I understand that the parent with the children need the support but steamrolling the other parent benefits nobody. And that is exactly what this is designed to do. Okay I've been working consistently for 3 years will child support being taken out and they still have my license suspended which is dumb because I pay my child support because it's taken directly out of my check. So why take the one thing that gets you to and from work to pay your child support away. Our government really needs to think twice about what they are doing because just about everything that they do is counterproductive. I fell behind by choosing to hire an attorney for legitimacy & joint custody since the mother uses me (the father) to hurt our daughter (10 y.o.a.) mentally by cutting off our communication for her punishment. Enough was enough of over- stepping the boundaries of authority. I need my license to get from job to job as I do home renovation and paint & body. Bus transit is not serviceable sufficient to get me to work. I need my license to work. And what gives child support the right to take my Fishing license even when I was [caught up]. I had my license suspended for back child support. I can not get a job due to no license. Child support is stacking up and she filed in two different states, so when i do get any funds i have to pay Louisiana and Texas. This will never be resolved. My suspension is due to not showing up in person to make payment. I had to leave town to find some form of work and was mailing in payments. Also, when i looked at the online website for Louisiana and compared the money i was paying in person to the money that child received, there was $600.00 missing. You should also include a petition making it against the law (with consequences) for filing child support in multiple states. This is another issue we are having. My licences was revoked in illinois because i owe back child support. The greater amount owed because of interst of 9 percent yearly and .75 pecent for every week not paid. So a bill of 17k is now 30k. I canot get my dl back unless its all paid at once. Im a self employed contractor and NEED to drive to make $$ so how is it right that the state take the ONE thing i need to pay that amount. They wont even work with me for a payment plan.
