Here is how you stop your license from being revoked. Your license have nothing to do with your "child support". If you are not making commerce with your conveyance (Car), you dont need a license as Traveling is a free right. Found in the movement act. -

We are not bad people or "deadbeats" this law ties our hands and makes it impossible for those of us in the construction industry to get to our jobsite! We are the guys who literally build our communities! And yours! It's hard enough to survive after the garnishment we are subjected to. Taking our ability to get to work or to get hired at all is just like putting bricks around our ankles and dropping us in water! WE CANT SWIM LIKE THAT! This law punishes our children as much as it does us. We are just trying to be good parents! Someone HELP us please! Thank you.REPORT COMMENTS

Thank God there is a petition! I live in Oklahoma and the oil field is how most survive in this state. I have a CDL as well as a NCCCO witch qualifies me to be a crane operator as long as I don't loose my CDL. In between jobs this past year in 2016 I was not able to find employment because of the economy and therefore pay the support needed to keep me in good standing with DHS. They contacted me after 3 months of a delinquent account stating that if I was not able to make another payment I would have my CDL suspended. This is the only way I make a living and can support my child let alone my new wife and children!! I have heard of men killing themselves because they can't pay support because the license was taken from them and they were not able to see a way out and cut there time on earth short! Just because of some overdue child support. i do agree 100% that this type of action hurts the child more then it does the father. This has to stop! No good comes from suspended license. It's only going to get worse until it's stopped.REPORT COMMENTS

Your driver license should be only suspended over driving infractions and points from driving related things period!. What does child support have anything with how you operate a motor vehicle?. It's called a "driver license" for a reason not child support slash driving license. So a guy with a horrible driving record thats a proven danger and exceeds points gets suspended and then a guy who is a poster model driver gets suspended also because he fell behind on a totally unrelated bill of child support?.REPORT COMMENTS

Yes I am one that has lost my license due to back child support, I have been incarcerated for close to four years and have gotten my child support backed up over incarceration, I now am about 12,000 dollars owed in back child support, if I were not incarcerated I don't believe that I would be this far behind in support and I would not have been suspended on my license, by taking away my license it has only hurt myself as well as my children for I am not at a weight limit that allows me to move easily and I do not walk for that reason, I think that they should do away with the taking away men who is due past child support and not take away the one thing that helps them to obtain employment and keep it. This is a ridiculous law. Most of the time the non-custodial parent isn't that far behind, but with the ridiculous intrest the state puts on us every month puts us further behind. my DL was suspended due to the interest accrued and although I currently make monthly payments on time the courts still suspended my license. I work as a curriur for American Red Cross and as a result of this suspension, I was released from my job position and am now unemployed seeking work elsewhere so that I don't fall further behind on my payments. Also, because I live 2 hers from my child, arranging to see him has become extremely difficult and he has to take 3 buses with me when I pick him up which cuts our time we would spend on bonding and enjoying our time together, in half.REPORT COMMENTS

I was accepted to many different police academies as well as very many well paying jobs that I was overlooked due to not being able to get a license because of child support! How am I suppose to get a good job and even be able to pick up my child and catch up on payments and back pay? Illinois is a mother state and yes I am an amazing father of 3 kids and my oldest's mother is a money hungry psycho! Point blank. She doesn't take care of my son her parents do! Also she has another family with some other guy which I don't care but calls me the deadbeat for fighting to even see my son for the past 10 years because she felt I didn't need to see my son because I had a dry patch with jobs for a few months. She has done everything in her power to screw my life up and keep my son from me and Illinois and the child support system has willingly helped her kick a good person down and keep him down!!REPORT COMMENTS

Now they say they are going to suspend my licence which will stop me from catching up, I don't understand it... it's only 5 grand... I can pay it , but not if I have no job to do so. The system is backwards and only set up to tear down a man. I have my son majority of the time but I still have this over my head while still taking care of him. Now my only source of income is in jeopardy because I'm happy and moved on and all she has to do is say the word and here comes trouble. It's not fair.REPORT COMMENTS

How is suspending my license making my situation any better. You are hindering me from being able to find work and making it harder for me to be able to find ways to get money. I have successfully paid child support 10 years through the job that i carried for thoughts 10 plus years. I lost my job and have been putting in apps for new a new job which have not been successful for the past few months that i have not been searching. It is absolutely essential to have drivers license to be able to get to and from job site to job site, and for my license to be suspended is absolutely ridiculous. The simple fact that it is showing that the government or who ever has no interest in the wellbeing of the person's need to be able to travel from point a to b in order to obtain currency for the situation at hand. In what way is this helping either party? I think it is ridiculous, and for a system that claims to be of support for a child to yield or rather stop the supporter from being able to have the is the necessary tools it take to be able to collect the currency needed in order to make the proper contributions. I think whoever's in charge of this rule or discussion needs to be suspended for the situation that hard workers that have been putting time and money in be made to suffer because of lide event's that unfortunately happen.......i am disgusted and feel humiliated. Stopping mobility is NOT helping the situation PERIOD!REPORT COMMENTS
