Our grandsons were doing fine in a Christian school that DID NOT teach common core method. They now have to go to a public school that does use common core and very well may not go on to their next grade We as grandparents feel that the common core method is destroying our grandsons lives along with the rest of the children that are forced to use it. Get it out of the schools and teach the students as they learned in the past. Education is not going forward, trying to teach something that is hard to understand by the students. What about the children that have ADHD/ADD or epilepsy... Controlled or not? The che children with ADHD/ADD have a hard enough time trying to sit still and pay attention during class time that is how long? And the children with epilepsy have a difficult time with their memory. Now you may ask how and why would I ask such questions. Because I experience it everyday... My eight year old son has ADHD and I have epilepsy with uncontrolled seizures that range from convulsions to sitting and staring off to getting up walking around unknowingly and have done so straight into traffic and I due to the epilepsy I can't remember things after a seizure. And you expect these children to sit still and remember things from thr beginning of the year? I sincerely hope you feel proud when you get the results back and they are nothing like you hoped for... Don't you damn dare try to place the blame on the teachers... Every morning and every night look in the mirror, smile and tell yourself, hot damn... Common core just completely throws you off when it comes to testing. You could be a student with a 95 average, yet completely flunk the regents, or any other common core exam.. One test (especially when it's programmed like this), shouldn't be able to determine your intelligence and academic success. Common core should be most definitely removed, and it doesn't make us seem "smarter", when thousands are struggling with these standards.REPORT COMMENTS

My family are total discussed with lack of education and over use of test Taking! I work hard to provide a life for my family and pay some of the highest taxes cause we own our business it's bad enouph we have these high taxes now we have to pay thousands of dollars now for a real education for our children. It's such a shame! We need a break some where! Life is hard enouph but to have to watch our daughter cry herself to sleep feeling stupid over the math issues every night fighting to understand the math yourself so you can help and feeling helpless!! Teachers Telling parents to call a help line!!! Seriously this is completely out of line. We need to get back to the basics people. Where not in China I don't want my daughter worrying about college in elementary school for crying out loud!!!!! This is a discrace of an excuse of a so called education!! Absolute opposite of one! Totally taken the fun out of learning with test,test,test! And not to mention 3rd grade isn't level 3 who are you kidding. Its great to challenge children that are capable but to push as far as 2 grade levels ahead! My daughter has fallen though the cracks in public school due to this garbage Parent never had a choice now my daughter is told she must repeat the 3rd grade now have a 30 min drive to private school cause that's not gonna happen!! Your not gonna rip the only little confidence left!! Thank to your red tape that took 3 years to figure out my daughter feels stupid and has a complex. You can take your education cause it's crap as usual. My daughters going to a new school where she can be herself and learn life skills and mature In a natural way not In a stressful environment continueally. She's not a robot she's a little girl that needs P.E and and recess daily. Why in the world would I start preparing my daughter for collage In elementary schoo!!!!! They don't even know who they are at that age! We as educators should try and figure how that child learns as they grow, what they like how they respond to learning how they obsorb information incorporate new things if they struggle. More time with developing the mental maturity of the little being!!! Introducing fun and active styles. We can do it! Just not this way. The people who created the common core do not even have a right to make or enforce it. Some of them are not even educators and have never taught and do not have degrees in what they are trying to mandate. They have given us no choice in the matter. Our states did not even know about it until after they were told they had to teach it. They had no vote in the matter. Are we living in a dictatorship now? This type of teaching will only lead to dysfunction. It will not better educate our children, but instead causes many problems as it is already doing. It takes up too much time and causes mathematical equations that should be simple and quick to solve, to become long, complicated, and confusing.REPORT COMMENTS

I'm a freshman in highschool and I used to get A+ in math all the time, but now I have a D because of common core. Common Core teaches you shortcuts that aren't actually the short way to solving a problem. These "shortcuts" actually make the solving process longer.
