My daughter has always struggled with math, and since common core has been implemented, she has grown further dismayed with the subject. Teachers are of no help, in my experience, and barely understand it themselves. Parents are unable to assist their children with homework, nowadays, which is appauling. I was actually advised by a teacher that I should just advise my child to set appointments with them for extra help because "unless you use it regularly and have a teacher's book, you won't understand it"...Why are we doing this to our children? Please stop and go back to teaching math as it should be taught. Step by step, broken down, and not vague and gray.REPORT COMMENTS

Damn i hate common core. Especially in geometry, where on some questions I just guess because I don't know what they are asking or something like that. They are making everything so difficult that when I walked into a testing room to practice the geometry EOC, the teacher said to win a donut party, our class would need to beat an average of 60%. Unbelievable. We need this gone and done. Back when I was in fifth grade, everything made sense and I scored fairly decent but now Im scared that I might not even pass the f****** class.REPORT COMMENTS

As growing up I did not receive common core in any subject in school, now at the age of 33 I am in no way behind in any type of math that I may have to do in a daily work schedule. The schools argument to common core is that it is to get children ready for college and the workforce. Really? I believe that this is just a money scheme for schools hurting financially. I have one child whom is in a RTI program and Speech who doesn't even need it. Her last gpa for all classes in the 3rd grade was a 97. But her brother whom needs the help cannot get it, I have tried everything to have him tested with the old testing system which points out exactly what learning disability he may have, but I am unable to successed in this, even offering to have him tested out of pocket the school system in TN will not recognize the test score or accept them, even tho the test is administered through ETSU of Johnson City TN. This has got to stop and teach our children the way this day in time modern workforce was taught, pretty sure all whom work are perfectly fine in what we learnt in the 90s and first two years of 2000.REPORT COMMENTS
