As the parent of two boys under the age of 5, I'm saddened by the change in our nation's educational system. Common Core needs to be abolished forever! Put the 2.5 billion which was used to create Common Core toward other educational avenues!!!REPORT COMMENTS

I personally as a student have always scored advanced on the CAASP end of the year testing, and this year because of common core, I barley met standards in math because of the outrageous questions and having to explain why this is that. I would always go to my teachers for help after school and receive help on what I didn't understand, and afterwards I ended up with an A+ in Honors Math. Soon after the CAASP testing came in and all the questions were just repetitive asking why this answer would relate to something in the real world; it's quite annoying seeing these questions all the time. And it ask how I got the answer, I would respond and type why, soon after school ended I received the CAASP scores and I scored way lower that I actually would, in past years I scored advanced in everything, now it's just meeting the standard when I'm seeking help from my teachers, family members, and friends. And in the end common core messed up my scores in math and English would I would always score advanced now I'm barely meeting the standards. Common core should be removed because it is making the future generations dumber with questions that are basically two grade levels down when it should be showing you math that is of grade level or higher.REPORT COMMENTS

in addition to the quality of education going out the window under the common core curriculum, which by the way is illegal in this country, being a national curriculum, the quality of some teachers has gone down as well. I'm not surprised as I would think that many teachers who really care about children would quit their jobs, refusing to teach such damaging garbage seeing the devastation this is doing on so many levels. Some may remain preferring to wait it out and do the best they can. As with my child's 4th grade teacher of last year in a Massachusetts elementary school, i can only say the woman was acting in ways that were not appropriate in a teaching environment or any environment involving children. After repeated emails to her, none of which she answered but forwarded to "administration" we finally spoke to the principal in person, who assured us she had already and would again 'speak" to this teacher about her conduct. We moved out of the state because the state of Massachusetts has wholeheartedly embraced common core curriculum on all levels. And, even though both the teacher and principal assured us that they did not follow common core principles to the letter at the beginning of the year that was not the case, the opposite was true. I might as well have home-schooled for that year. It does not even address the inappropriate comments of a personal nature about my child and our family made by her teacher throughout the year. the principal seemed unable to do anything about either issue. Common Core does not only dis-empowers children and parents but also teachers and their managing officials.REPORT COMMENTS

Common Core is ruining education. It was going so well before the wave hit. That wave of change destroyed students. I should know I am one of those students. Teachers did not know how to teach the new curriculum and students were not ready for a different way of learning. Our grades plummeted and now it will be harder to enter a good school. We couldn't control the decline, we were forced into these standards to fit the mold. Ill tell you I made sure I was not going to fit into that mold and I was going to stand out. I did just that. Our Lawmakers need to abolish this horrible plague infecting our educational system.REPORT COMMENTS

As a student, even with fantastic grades common core is killing me and all of the other students that are forced to take part in it. IT NEEDS TO STOP! This will be the sole reason why drop out rates will skyrocket. Please don't make us go through this stress anymore. It is not preparing any of us for college or the real world! It is just discouraging us!REPORT COMMENTS

Common core math stands to over complicate the most basic of problems, which defies the purpose of math. Furthermore, common core is not taught at the university level, so how is the future generation supposed to survive academically, once they reach higher education. Common core math needs to be eradicated from the united states educational system. Especially if we are to compete at the international level.REPORT COMMENTS
