As an employee of a social service agency providing services to Hurricane Ike victims in Galveston County, daily I see new people seeking recovery assistance and help rebuilding and repairing their homes. Because the repair funds have only recently become available, there are still a great many people that need assistance.REPORT COMMENTS

Funds were not available to agencies until months after the award was made, extending the time to expend the funds is only common sense and I hope you will extend the time frame beyond Sept. 30, 2010.REPORT COMMENTS

I have been directly involved with helping people who were affected by Hurricane Ike. The issues are too many related to them having lost their personal belongings - some are barely getting their home fixed and several others are waiting...This was not able to be "fixed" in two years...more time is needed in order to avoid further deterioration of their lives...REPORT COMMENTS

We manage a volunteer camp in Galveston County that doubles the value of these federal dollars. We plan to be there well into 2011, significantly past the SSBG close date.REPORT COMMENTS

The time allowed for use of these funds has proven inadequate. It takes too long to transfer the funds to end recipients and the recovery time required is longer than was anticipated in setting the deadline. For the future proceedures need to be implemented in advance that will facilitate the use of emergency funds when required.REPORT COMMENTS

At the time these funds were appropriated it was impossible to project accurately how much time would be needed to implement this program. As it turned out more time was needed. The same public need remains now as it was at time of original appropriation.REPORT COMMENTS
