The Greater New Orleans area, where I provide mental health/family therapy, continues to have hurricane acute stress concerns. Thus, I support the continuation of this funding. Emotional recovery comes after and is longer than physical recovery.REPORT COMMENTS

One of the principal intended uses of these funds was to replace furniture and appliances destroyed or damaged by Ike in those homes that suffered massive damage. Due to bureaucratic and other factors, many of these homes have not yet been rebuilt, and the grant does not allow for this furniture or appliances to be stored or held by the seller until the new home can be completed.REPORT COMMENTS

I am the Special Project Officer of the SSBG for the Family Service Center of Galveston County. The funds recieved from this grant to date have allowed our agency to assist over 1000 people who have suffered as a result of hurricane Ike. Despite the lag in reimbursement for direct services, our agency has been commited to this population of citizens in many cities within our county. We have made a signifanct impact in many lives. It is in my opinion that given the opportunity to exaust all funds allocated, many individuals who are still mentally traumatized by the aftermath of the recovery process could be benefited. It is vital that we be granted a no cost extension of this project for the betterment of our community.REPORT COMMENTS
