While there are still needs to be met from this disaster, why would we even consider allowing this money not to be spent to assist the people who need it? Please allow this money to be used as intended. It is not the fault of the devastated people that this money did not get to them in a timely and efficient manner. Thank you for considering my concern.

Galveston and Galveston County are just now being able to actually repair homes damaged by Hurricane IKE with CDBG funds. The low to moderate income families that will be moving back into their homes need help and there are lots of others who still desperatedly need help. These funds only just became available and they are desperately needed. Please extend them.

Progress is being made and without an extension many positive efforts will be lost or put on indefinite hold. Please extend.

The need is urgent for you to give us time to rebuild our community, as you have in the past for other communities. We are all working so hard. Please help.

SSBG funds provide critical resources to families still recovering from Hurricane Ike. There are over 4,000 low income families along the Texas Gulf Coast who are waiting for CDBG funded programs to repair or replace their damaged homes. They will need the SSBG funds to help them address other needs such as appliances, furnishing, mental health issues resulting form their dislocation and many more. Organizations helping families only have had access to the funds since January, 2010 and their results are very strong. Congress needs to act to extend these funds.

SSBG funding delay created a delay in our ability to spend the funds. We have all mechanisms in place to expend funds by September 2011 if granted the extension.
