I have been working on this recovery grant. If the funding ends, all of the people in the CDBG program will have no furniture when their homes are completed. There are hundreds of victims that need this help.

How can anyone be expected to have taken care of all their damages from Ike in this short of a time? Has all of New Orleans rebuilt since Katrina already? Ofcorse not! It takes probably 5 years to feel really normal again & all rebuilding, insurance payments, etc. done.

Please support the SSBG funding, especially for Galveston County. Sandwiched between Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, and then the Gulf Coast Oil Spill, one of the worst hurricanes in U.S. history occurred in Galveston. Since the economy crashed and it was a presidential election, it didn't get nearly the news media coverage. Families in Galveston County are still devastated. Mine is one of them. We are still trying to get our home repaired to the level it once was. Our daughter still has issues with hoarding and taking too many things to school in her backpack, lke many children in Galveston, who are afraid they'll lose everything at a moment's notice. I am still tryng to rebuild my business and pay down credit cards that funded my family's survival after Ike displaced us for a year. The local organizations need SSBG funds to prevent/treat burnout, because hurricane recovery is a job that doesn't end quickly. They hear story after story, day after day, and they need the help. I am no longer a "victim" because I'm home, but my stories will haunt me forever. I have so many, one day I'll write a book. Please support the SSBG funding, especially for Galveston County. Thank you.

Dear Leaders, I wish you could see and hear the impact of SSBG towards assisting hurricane IKE survivors here in Southeast Texas with their recovery. We've made a dent but there is still a need to help additional SE TX IKE survivors. Leaders, please support an extension of the period for expending Social Services Block Grant disaster recovery funds to serve Hurricane Ike victims before authorization to use the funds expires on September 30, 2010. Warm regards and thank YOU!

This is vital to the continuing recovery of the Galveston community, especially those agencies that support the most vulnerable of the community. This is especially important during a time of continuing economic recovery.

Our "Storm Victims" have shown compassion, patience, and long suffering while they have waited for the wheels of progress to turn. Please extend the same to them, so that our community may fully recover. Thanks!!!

As a case manager it is frustrating to know that there are people I could help if I don't run out of time. And there are those out there that will still need services related to disaster case management due to the lengthy process of COGs distributing funding, we were not able to start accessing funds until recently.
