I strongly feel it is wrong to deny me, and anyone, who worked and paid into s.s. not to receive the benefits of social security. I worked a second job for years while I was teaching to build up credits for when I retire. Now just because I spent the majority of my life in the teaching field and working another job I shouldn[t I should not receive what I paid into the system like anyone else? This is totally bogus and unfair. I worked my butt off for all those years to build for my retirement and now you tell me I can't receive what I've put into the system? That's down right wrong.REPORT COMMENTS

I am married to my husband for 55 years and cannot collect what is rightfully mine. I have also worked and paid more than 40 quarters into Soc. Sec., I have been penalized. I have paid into the MTRB for over 25 years and am entitled to both. This ridiculous law must be changed to be fair.REPORT COMMENTS

It is unfair that I do not receive my full amount of SS benefits since I earned at least 40 quarters working in the private sector prior to my teaching career. Furthermore, if my husband deceases before me that I am not entitled to his SS benefits like other wives who are not in my situation. However, my Medicare Part B keeps increasing, but not my SS benefits.REPORT COMMENTS

I paid into Social Security for 15 years before I became a teacher. I will not get my maximum benefit from teaching (not enough years) and I will have much of my Social Security taken away. This is unacceptable and completely unfair. Why would anybody, especially people working in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math enter the teaching profession, only to see their benefits slashed?REPORT COMMENTS

I worked as a teacher for 30 years and my husband worked in the private sector. I was surprised to learn that I will be unable to collect his SS if he does before me, since he is able to collect part of my pension if I die first. Also, I worked under SS before teaching. Why does our government penalize people who work, yet there are many people out there who never work and seem to get everything for nothing.REPORT COMMENTS
