I started public employment later in life. I will just be vested in the pension system (as long as that metric does not change) and will not accrue a signifigant pension. To have my social security benefits garnished is a painfull penalty to have to pay for years of service and payments. -

This is unfair to those who switch to public employment later in life and never get vested in the pension system, but have social security benefits garnished. Workers should have the option of paying Social Security if they know they will not be working the required years to be vested.REPORT COMMENTS
