This goes both ways. It is not just fathers that pay child support. There are mothers like myself that have to pay extravagant amounts to a father that has absolutely no interest in the children or their lives, only the paycheck that comes from the child support payments. I definitely agree with that. The mothers/or fathers should be drug tested if your getting support. She make more than me but I pay a big portion. I don’t feel that’s right. I take care of my son, have set days with him ( as the judge said), and buy his things. I find it crazy that he system would not see that and still do what they do to the good fathers.REPORT COMMENTS

My husband is currently serving jail time, because we could not afford to pay the absolutely ridiculous amount of child support he owes a month through the state of Arizona. He is ordered to pay almost $1000 a month, and we can barely make it. His ex waited 2 years AFTER their divorce, to file for child support, so naturally, he was ordered to pay all that back support. There is no way that we have that kind of money, nor ever will. He was only able to pay half the amount last month, because we had some unexpected finances, and the judge threw him in jail. This system is totally screwed up and unfair. He is a good, hard working man, and does not belong in jail. Especially for something out of his control. Jail is supposed to be for criminals. It's like they punish you for being poor. Something has to change NOW!!!REPORT COMMENTS

I have had my license suspended twice now, I had temporary custody of my son in 2008. had to prove to the court why I didn't need support from the mother at which time she would have been put in jail for non payment of support. in 2010 I was diagnosed with colon cancer and had to have surgery and chemotherapy / radiation and had to let him go live with his mother and other siblings. And then she took me to court because she was having another child and needed State assistant and I was demanded to pay support for him and a daughter that she had while we were together but was not proven to be my child as she was cheating on me and then I went to the court system after hiring a lawyer to get a paternity test done and she failed to comply 3 times and she was going to be held in contempt of court so I dropped the charges against her so she would not go to jail. And now I pay support for those two children and they issued a warrant for me in the state of Florida 4 non-payment as I was laid off of work and suspended my driver's license again so it hindered me from being able to get a job and is keeping me from being able to see my children. I have been working now for over 6 months and paying my support and I now have my driver's license back but the warrant is still outstanding so I cannot go see my children. The judge I had was worse than Judge Judy she held her hand up to me and told me that I did not bring legal representation. But the paperwork said that a attorney was optional so I did not bring one. icould not afford from being out of work and demanded that I pay support and back support even though I had legal documents showing that I had sent the mother money every month. And now I work 14 hours a day and have had another child meanwhile that I barely get to see because I have to work so many hours to pay the support that was ordered by the courts. They are keeping me from seeing my child or children and will not let me do a paternity test nor does it matter according to the state of Florida because the child has my last name.REPORT COMMENTS

I have lost my license twice I have custody of two daughters alone I dont receive child support from their mother because honestly i didn't want her in jail or worse. I know she can't afford it. So the judge ordered no child support for her. Now i have two other kids out of state who i never met who i pay child support for. 500.00 now im a single father of two daughters. But child support gives no damn care. Im an atm for my kids out of state. I don't even know where my kids live and can't see them. But if i dont pay i get bodily writ warrant. Also get my license taken away. I could lose my home my kids and my job. Does anyone care about mr wnd my kids? The system is unfair. I have a clean record and a healthy life. But i fear losing my kids home and job. Th3se other mothers dont do nothing but ask for money. How bout you give me my child and let me take care of them. If one judge granted me custody why can't i have all my kids...... Child support needs new guidlines. Right now Orlando fl is having men in jail for 7 months min. If they can't pay child support. I had a 2000 bodily writ of attachement. Because i owed child support. So im supposed to do 7 months in jail and lose my kids home and job? ? How is this fair. Mothers want money a check. So here is my situation. Got divorced in 2004, shared parental responsibility, no child support due to my daughter being with me more than her mother, although my ex was he residential parent. 11 years ago my ex disappeared with my daughter. I tried legal aid, I tried asking attorneys, and I was told flat out that she is the mother and she can do what she wants. In 2014 my oldest daughter found her in Washington state. I also found her facebook, tried messaging for the last year. Well to make matters worse, I received a letter that I am behind in child support, which she filed for before she left. Recently I lost my job and now found one driving for Medicaid transport, but now they are suspending my license. I am being punished for missing child support payments, but she isn't being punished for taking my daughter across state lines, withholding her from me and my family. I have not seen her or tales to her since she was 6, she will be 18 in Jan. Something needs to be done about mothers that think they are above to law. Fathers get their license suspended, then go to jail if they can't pay. I think mothers can be just as much of a deadbeat as fathers can. So now I can't drive and have to give up a good paying job. I've been wronged for over 7 years. She makes more than I and I'm in debt behind it. I definitely don't think we should be jailed either. I think child support shouldn't be paid to mothers or fathers escpecially when fathers or mothers still do for their kids. Not only does the father/mother pay child support but still picks the kid/kids up and buys them things as a parent should so really it's like paying double. I believe that a father/mother should pay child support but it should be set up in a fund just like a trust fund and be able to get that money when they turn 18. In most cases the women fight to keep the child so therfore they should be responsible example they want a new car they are responsible to pay right? Most women take that money and don't even spend it on the child. They take it and buy things that they want or need. Same as men. At the end of the day our kids are the ones that suffer. Men/women should still see their kids and do things with them but if they don't want to that's their decision and money should still be put into a account till they turn 18. What good does it do for the child if they don't even see the money look at 95% of people on goverment benefits that are very capable of getting a job but won't because why they get child support food stamps Medicare and housing our government just makes it easy for them so really if you look at the big picture why work I get 465 a month in child support my rent is 100 and I get 300 a month in food stamps and that leaves about 100 to get house necessities and the rest is for them to spend on kids but when you look at them they have nice clothes and their kids look like they haven't took a shower in days our government needs to do betterREPORT COMMENTS
