It's not right for good hardworking Fathers to be punished because a gold digging female thinks she's entitled to all his paycheck. And it's not right for a child support agency to open a claim and then start the payment process BEFORE the father gets ANY paperwork stating how much he needs to pay. Then wham! Here you go, $3000 in back pay. The system is in DIRE need of being overhauled.

Child support is out of control. They'll teack you down to get child support, but nobody gives a damn about you actually seeing your kid.

why can lazy no good non working mothers living with two other men take advantage of the unfair laws, and get 2/3 of a hard working man's pay check, the money doesn't even go to the kids, she uses it to party, but the retarded court system doesn't care, as long as she is getting child support, that is all that matters. We need to change the laws to stop this nonsense.

How about having the mothers provide receipts for where and how the child support is being spent. And fathers should be alert to claim a child if the mother has more than one no matter what state she resides in.

The system is meant to help take care of the child(ren), but too often it's used by one parent to punish the other. There are plenty of parents who are doing right by their children, but they are penalized simply because the other parent is angry with them. I also believe that if a parent is found to be lying in order to get more money from the other, they should be criminally charged, and the other parent should have an opportunity to get custody of the child(ren).

The current system potentiates extreme exploitation of the poor. It's essentially a regressive tax system. Place pressure on those who can afford it, then consider a sensible system between the two parents.

I agree that parents should be held responsible for their children, but this law stipulates unfair minimums that cause financial crisis to thise that honestly pay support. This law needs to be removed or minimum onligations need to be revised lower. The only things this law supports is the creation of deadbeat dads and parents who end up in jail for not being able to pay child support.

My husband is currently having to go to an out of state contempt hearing . The mother disappeared with their children for almost 5 years . She contacted him by email secreting their location. Saying how awful he was and she had to protect the children from him even though he was a good dad , he appeased her by letting her bash him and just saying whatever she would like to hear to find his kids . She gave him a PayPal to send support which he did then she cut it off shorly later . Finally this year she let him know the boys location which was out of state and allowed him to visit them while he was their he gave her 2,000 he managed to save for them . Their was a previous custody determination in his state which allowed him joint custody and support payments of 450$ a month which he had been out of work for a while being a disabled veteran . A few months ago she retained a lawyer in the other state and filed for motion to domesticate foreign judgment , and to have the father incarcerated unless he paid in full 25000 . Who the heck has 25000 laying around . He also sent support for august and September while she has kept his kids away the past few months , she has contested visitation on 8 new accounts while waiting for this court hearing . Just letting her do whatever she wants . Tommrow is the court hearing in Cobb county Georgia if anybody has any advise or ability to help that would be great . Please try and fix where mothers can't abduct the children and file crazy charges in another state .

I should be making memories with my children not sending their mothers nearly half of my check. I have nothing against paying child support but when I don't have money to visit my kids regularly, I know they think their daddy just doesn't want to see them. How come daddy never has any money? I'll have money to see them when I'm finished paying child support but oh wait they probably won't want anything to do with me. They will be young adults and doing their own thing. How depressing.

im digging to my graves paying child support. the court do not care iif you cant find a home to live in. in the bay area apt price are so high i could barely afford a room. room cost 800 to 1000 and whats left on my check? nothing!! court nor judge do not see great fathers who continue paying child support and see their child. to them the non custodial parent with less numbers and less responsibility has no rights to even speak for "best interest of the child". they just see numbers! this court of law is so messed up that they dont want to waste their time solving.

I do not agree with the 7 steps listed. Child support should be based on the actual costs of raising a child... not the parents' incomes. Parental equality should be the default position. Parents have rights AND responsibilities, and they should be shared 50/50 regardless of either parent's "station in life." To do otherwise unfairly transfers accountability from one parent to the other.

I have four children from two different mothers. Oldest one's mother has been great stress to me. Taking kids in and out of my life. Both use kids as bargaining tools. First set gets $733 a month and the second set gets $540 a month. How the hell is that fair to them and me. Fought this in court and they raised the first one to $743 a month because the mother lost her job two weeks prior court date. Crooked government!!!! So I have been trying to pay for three living situations and feel like I would almost be better off in jail! Going on 12 years of payments. I guess I got the best gifts money can BUY!!
