Unconscionable this is not included in the FMLA. But for good graces, most of us would not even be aware of this gross oversight. Heartfelt sympathies to all whom have lost a child.

I lost my fourteen year-old daughter in 2009. Living after the loss of a child is unexplicably difficult. I sign this in memory of Megan.

It only makes sense to allow grieving parents to be able to mourn more than the three days their employer allows.

I got laid off the day before delivering my son stillborn when they KNEW I was likely going to lose the baby. It makes me sick I couldn't take leave to keep that from happening since I had no time off left because I had to use my leave to go to appointments to figure out what was wrong with me and my baby!

Why isn't this already a part of FMLA - it should have been included in 1993 and certainly must be added now.

It is my opinion that the death of a child is one of the worst experiences that anyone can endure. I find it unacceptable that the death of a child is not included as a protected reason to qualify for the benefits that are set forth in the Family Medical Leave Act of 1993. (I couldn't have said it better myself. I was completely dumbfounded to learn that it was not a "qualifying reason"!)
