What a wonderful idea! Time to grieve is so incredibly important.

I lost a son 4 years ago, and I'm still grieving. I am fortunate enough to work for a company that understands how difficult life becomes when you lose a child. They allow for unpaid leave. You are permitted unpaid leave for the birth of that child, why not for the death.

I have lost my own child and I watched as my sister in law lost her son. I watched my brother in law go back to work the day after the funeral and felt so bad that because of work he was not able to grieve , he had to immediately go back to work because of his job.

Obviously, I feel that mothers should also be included. Having lost a son in 1999, I was given 3 days of bereavement leave. I could not even absorb the fact that my son was gone in three days. This needs to be changed. Susan

As a mother who has lost two children I think it is time that we support people who are grieving. It is time that we help out with emotional health as well as physical health. This would be a great addition to FMLA.

I lost my daughter in 2006. I actually had my boss walk up to me at her service asking if I would be at work the next day. I wasn't and ended up finding a different company to work for. This is a necessary revision.
