I have had diabetes for 47 yrs. I take pride in taking care of myself. I have been on OMNIPOD since 2006. Now that I am on Medicare, Medicare will not pay for my pump or pods, please help us fight this. I have had no infections because it is tubeless. Why should I have to go to a tubed fed pump -

I have been wanting an Omnipod insulin pump. My niece has one and loves it and gets excellent control of her type I diabetes. I currently have a tubed pump which is disposable just the same as Omnipod. Having a pump that wasn't tubed would be so much more convenient when wearing dresses, going swimming and other activities. I personally don't see what the issue is since millions of people have them and are under goid control.REPORT COMMENTS

The Omnipod is the best device I have ever used and I have been a diabetic for almost 60 years. Wake up Congress and get with the program. And how many of you in Congress are, or may eventually become diabetic and require a pump system? Oh wait, you have all the loopholes at your disposal.... Disgusting.,, Just keep in mind that our health and well being is in your hands.REPORT COMMENTS

Omnipod is the most versatile insulin management system out there, allowing users to maintain the active lifestyle so important to diabetes control. It is disgraceful that this system is not covered by Medicare.REPORT COMMENTS

We are simply asking for respect . I am a woman and I don't usually have belt or a pocket to hold the pump. With the Omnipod system, there is no need to worry about that. I have been using Omnipod for 9 years and will have to go on Medicare in 3 months. I am so sad.REPORT COMMENTS

With continuing difficulty, I have been able to have my insurance company cover the omnipod system. I will be going on Medicare next year and am told that I will need to switch my pump. If I do not, not only am I responsible for paying for the pods but also the insulin under part D. With another approved system, the system and insulin are covered under part B. Does not make any sense.REPORT COMMENTS

I am a registered nurse and an Insulin Dependent Diabetic. Any method that helps diabetic patients be better controlled or more compliant should be covered. Poor control and or poor compliance leads to increased hospitalization and complications. Many diabetics end up on dialysis. As the saying goes pay now or pay later.REPORT COMMENTS

The cost of the Omnipod is comparable to conventional insulin pumps plus insertion sets and it is covered by most health insurance plans. There is no logical reason why is should not be covered by Medicare along with other insulin pumps. If it is not covered, I will be foced to purchase them out of pocket as I cannot tolerate tubing against my skin (painful due to neuropathy) and I can't revert to injections as you will then not pay for may insulin. Please use some common sense and add Omnipod to the list of covered insulin pumps.REPORT COMMENTS

I have been a type-1 diabetic since the age of 27. I'm currently 50 years old, and I play tennis regularly for exercise to keep my blood sugars under control. My diabetes control has vastly improved since being on Omnipod. No tubes attached to my body means that I can maintain a active lifestyle for keeping my blood sugars under control. Keeping blood sugars under control is imperative otherwise it could lead to severe complications such as kidney failure or blindness. Dealing with such disabilities is not only painful, but also far more expensive. Medicare must cover Omnipod just like it cover other tubing based insulin pumpsREPORT COMMENTS
