I have been a diabetic since 13 yrs old. At my current age of 52, I have seen a lot of change. Also, change in the insurance bureaucracy on making it diffucult for folks who can qualify for a better life using insulin products like the Omni pod yet due to insurance B.S. folks like myself who have medicare cant. I have a better life style and diabetic control with being on omni pod. and the busy life and actives I am involved makes it easier to wear a wireless insulin pump. If your advertising to make a diabetic life simpler and healthier then medicare needs to incorporate the omni pod for folks who work towards making a better life being a diabetic. Instead of having all these dangling wires hanging all over them. For the Love of God! Medicare this is not a tummy tuck or boob job! Omni pods is a better life style and productive one for folks like me who have to live with a chronic illness such as type one diab.Jul 25th, 2016Someone from Somersworth, NH writes:
The Omnipod is one of the easier insulin delivery systems out there. I've been using it since it came out in 2005 and the company has been rock solid supporting me from the get go. The Omnipod system should be covered as you'll be risking a patient's health by forcing them to move away from a device that has helped keep them healthy by avoiding other health complications.REPORT COMMENTS

Please support! This really helps patients who are already on this device, and it helps patients for whom the tubed pumps are not appropriate,REPORT COMMENTS

It makes economic sense to cover. My insulin use is less with the Omnipod. If you've checked the cost of insulin vs using a pump system the difference is striking.REPORT COMMENTS

The Omnipod is the reason my A1C went from 13 to 8.4! I can't get pods any longer for my Omnipod (which was initially approved with private insurance) because Medicare won't pay! So I am back on shots...and my A1C is going up again.REPORT COMMENTS

Please HELP....it's your job! We are Americans and your 1st obligation is to us.REPORT COMMENTS

I have been on omnipod for 5 years an now they say they won't pay for it. It is the only thing that controls my sugar. I am afraid there will be a lot of lawsuits due to people getting seriously ill or dying because they were denied the omni pump that kept there sugar in control. Please please pass whatever needs to be done to make this right!!!REPORT COMMENTS

Tubing gets and infusion sites interfere with high aerobic exercise, which is certainly good for every diabetic's health. PLEASE, dDO WHAT IS RIGHT!! Cover the Insulet Omnipod insulin pump, and all other tubeless insulin pumps under Medicare. Medicare will pay one way or the other, but the 'other' will result in higher long term health costs as diabetic health suffers, raising medical care costs rise.REPORT COMMENTS

By covering this device, it is likely to save Medicare money in the long run. Diabetic complications cost a lot of money. Therefore, covering medical equipment that could prevent costly complications, will be more cost effective.REPORT COMMENTS

Let me understand Medicare's policy. Technology advances and a insulin pump with better technology is approved by the FDA and is now used by diabetics and is covered by health insurers. However, Medicare only accepts the older technology that is not wireless and uses tubing. This is like telling our legislators that they cannot use their smart phones, they can only use land lines. Please tell Medicare to cover the Omnipod system for Diabetics. Thank youREPORT COMMENTS

It is not fair that Medicare covers other insulin pumps(tubed) but not the Omnipod pumps. I have been a diabetic for 54 years and on the pump for 6 years and my A1C has never been as good as now that I am on the Omnipod System. Do what you can to see that the Omnipod system is added to the coverage by Medicare.REPORT COMMENTS

I had used omnipod for years and went on Medicare and had to switch pumps back to a tubed pump. My numbers have suffered because the insulin has to travel so far to get to my body (through 2 ft of tubing) as to where with the omnipod it goes directly into your body. I absolutely hate the tubes pump. Please cover the omnipod again so I can take control of my life and numbers again!!REPORT COMMENTS

Please try and understand what we Type 1 diabetics go through on a daily basis. I challenge you to try it, just 1 month, 1 week, and you will realize how difficult, time consuming and stressful the 24/7 maintenance places on us. Unlike Type 2, we can't change our diets or lose weight or change our lifestyle to find relief . This is an autoimmune disease that has no cure, just maintenance. Please, we need options for dealing with and controlling this disease.REPORT COMMENTS
