I can not afford the Omnipod pump unless Medicare covers it! Like Omnipod, all pumps in the future will be utilizing tubeless pumps. Medicare is not keeping up with the pace of technology regarding these pumps. Tubeless pumps are less expensive than the ones that have tubes! Tubes get caught on EVERYTHING and pulls them out so you have to use another attachment for the pumps that have tubes. Come out of the dark ages!Aug 28th, 2015Someone from Tucson, AZ writes:
Please approve Medicare coverage for the Omni Pod insulin pump. Seniors are on limited incomes and should have the resources to lead a healthy life.REPORT COMMENTS

Please approve Medicare payment or partial payment of Insulet Omni Pod insulin pump. I will be able to swim and shower more and it will much simpler to use as I have some dementia. My Metronics pump is covered but has many infusion parts and takes so long to change infusion. Please investigate the feasibility.REPORT COMMENTS

My 38 year old daughter was born with Cystic Fibrosis and became diabetic nearly 15 years ago. Since then, she has had a double lung transplant and continues her recovery. She's had great success with the Insulet Omnipod. Now, she's on Medicare and she can't afford to keep the pod as Medicare won't cover it. As a parent, I would do anything for her. Can't someone help us? Please?REPORT COMMENTS

I had uncontrolled Diabetes II that was considered insulin resistant. Oral medications, Byetta, and even injecting insulin did not help. My doctor at Tufts in Boston suggested an insulin pump. My husband's insurance paid for a tubeless pump, The Omnipod. That was 5 years ago, and my diabetes is totally under control. Please, when I am 65, three years from now, a tubeless pump will be covered. I let my insulin run out, the pump tells me delivery has stopped; then I change the pod, so no waste here! Why wouldn't Medicare want healthier seniors?REPORT COMMENTS

Many people need these Omni Pod Insulin pumps and approve their quality of life and overall ability to live with diabetes. This device needs to be a Medicare approved device, its already FDA approved and paid by private insurance. The clear next step is to approve this DME thru medicare.REPORT COMMENTS

The is HOPE. I have been on the Omnipod for over 5 years and now have to get off of it. Insulet has a new CEO and they have come up with a boilerplate letter for your Endocrinologist to sign and send it to your State Senator and Congressman. Its about supporting an amendment to change the wording to support covering the Omnipods. Contact Insulet Customer Support for the letter 800-591-3455. Get it DONE NOW. There is HOPE but we have to get involved and help make it happen.REPORT COMMENTS

None of us chose diabetes. Most of us work very hard to maintain and when we find something that works for us we should be allowed to continue to use it. We are all different. We need to be able to make the choice that is right for us. Change the law.REPORT COMMENTS

I have worn a pump with external tubing for many years, but the tubing creates many problems. Yet some insurances and Medicare will not cover the Omni which is tubless. It would save our country megabucks and help to prevent complications due to diabetes. Please make the necessary changes to allow coverageREPORT COMMENTS

Wearing a pump is the only way ive got my numbers under control. However i have also had the tubing ripped out several times including once that sent me to the E.R. because I nicked a vein. I am EXTREMELY interested in getting this tubeless pump and feel it would be a god send.REPORT COMMENTS

My daughter is considered medically fragile, and he has a developmental disability. She has been on the OmniPod system for 3 years. It has given her an improvement in her quality of life because we have able to give her insulin throughout the day to control her diabetes. The OmniPod is NOT a luxury. It is a lifeline for my daughter who suffers from an inability to cannot control her diabetes without it.REPORT COMMENTS
