The tattoo policy is completely unfair to put it in nicer words. I was supposed to ship out to basic training May 10, 2010 but because of the policy, I can no longer attend. I was so nervous and excited at the same time. I was finally going to do something that I completely and utterly LOVED the idea of becoming a Marine. I have no criminal record, no medical problems; I am in good shape and a college student. I just wanted to be one of the few and proud Marines. How can it be if I very well met all of the requirements!!! I had been dreaming about becoming a Marine since my sophomore year in high school and now I am a college freshman. I tried to look at other branches, but the Marine Corps is the only one that feels right for me. It?s like my whole world fell apart. All I am hoping for is that the policy will change so I can enlist again to serve this country.

My husband wanted to attend the MECEP program, but cannot because his sleeve tattoos prohibit him from serving as an officer. This policy is unfair and is holding back a lot of great leaders.

The Marines can fight for our country but don't have the right to have tattoo sleeves!! This is NOT right.

What happened to freedom? The freedom of speech and freedom to bare my arms? I wear my freedom of speach on my arms. I fight for the freedoms most take for granted, stop hurting our troops and give them all the support you can. Troops are people too.
