To whom it may concern, This policy is a mock of what Marines stand for. I just turned 18 and I have wanted to serve in the core since I was in middle school. Our nation's best defense doesn't discriminate on who dies on the battlefield or who sacrifices themselves for our great country. The soldier, or better yet, the man, is not determined by the color of his skin or what is on it. If someone is willing to fight for our great country of America, I say liberty and justice for ALL. Please repeal this policy and let me and many more fine men and women uphold the traditions and values of the United States Marine Core.

I've been in for almost 4 years now. We hold everything to the highest standards w/ or w/ out tattoos.

I was denied because i have a quarter sleeve tattoo on my right forarm of the statue of liberty, Staten Island ferry, and New York Yankee symbol. It just makes no sense to me im in the best shape of my life at the age of 23 and have everything I need to become A marine. Why am I being discriminated?

I also was denied the right to fight for my country in perfect physical condition because of my tattoos none are vulgar gang related or discriminatory in any way. I believe it's wrong to deny someone a better future because of past decisions if they are truly willing to better themselves and serve others. Especially since a lot of the images of marines in the media are of the tough Marines with a cigar and tattoos, how do you expect dedicated young men and women who have always wanted to be Marines to look when that's the Marine we saw growing up? I don't think the tattoo policy should be revised, just relaxed, you know give us a chance to at least make it to the MEPS station.

Im not able to join the marines because of a tattoo on my wrist. I'ts a name and can be covered with my hand. I could understand if people with sleeves and larger gets disqualified, but my tattoo? I'm not joining the marines in hopes of people seeing my tattoo, I want to join in hopes of becoming a leader and serving my country! So hopefully this petition does something. I'ts in the hearts of americans to do what's right for this country, not a tattoo.

I can't join the corps because of my ink. My tatoos have no effect on me going infantry for the corps. Im going to have to go army now. Not only is it unfair for marines that are always in but im not even interested in higher jobs. I just want infantry, and i want the corps.

My brother in law is "grandfathered" For his sleeves and my fiance is getting tattoos and are Marines. I feel the more and more strict they are getting on the tattoo policy is getting ridiculous. Yeah I understand the lip I do but places that are not visible in uniform or in PT cloths shouldn't matter! You don't want them visible there you go they aren't visible,

I know a young man that was just DQ'd because of a tatoo that barely touches his collar bone and does not show in dress uniforms. He is very unhappy with this. He is a good man being turned away because of this tatoo issue and it is a shame. His friend with high blood pressure was able to get in and that should have been an issue before a tatoo that cannot be seen. He would have been honored to be a Marine. This rule needs to be revoked.

I tried to join the marines but was turned down because my tattoo, which is not visible in any type of uniform including pt, touched my collar bone near my shoulder. I think this policy needs to be changed.

My brother (the Marine) and I were going to get matching Soldier;s Memorial tattoos, now because of this policy we can't because it doesn't meet the size requirement. It's a memorial tattoo for Christ's sake! Let it go. I have mine and now we have to wait till he gets out for him to get his. I don't see why if it's not offensive why it wouldn't be allowed! Dumb dumb dumb! I see so many Veterans with a crap load of tattoos, and back in the older days tattoos were a lot more taboo. Makes no sense.
