I agree completely! I think that as long as a Marine has had the tattoo before that policy was passed they should be grandfathered into it. Also i don't think Marines should have this restriction, just about everyone that I've know or met that have been in the Marines has one if not multiple tattoos. I'm soon to enlist and start my career as a Marine, if i was unable to show my dedication and support for my life decision i feel kind of let down but my opinion of my families branch of service would not be altered.Nov 12th, 2014Someone from West Springfield, MA signed.

Tattoos and service are 2 different things. As long as tattoos aren't offensive there should be no reason why someone would be rejected from service.REPORT COMMENTS

This policy is grossly outdated and has no bearing on the person's ability to serve. It is insulting when one is considering the sacrifice the serviceman makes.REPORT COMMENTS

Tattoos are traditional. It makes no sense why a small tattoo can prevent a person from enlisting and fighting for the country. Also most of the people who have meaningful tattoos would be more passionate and are more willing to fight. I have a small tattoo by my wrist that disqualifying me from enlisting. People are willing to give their lives and the only thing that prevents them are symbolic symbols on their body that represent meaning and memories. This is ridiculous. It's even more ridiculous that useful people are being turned down because of a policy that is only implaced to show power. Sooner or later no one will be able to enter.REPORT COMMENTS

I believe that this policy is ridiculous, and should be reviewed. Tattoos in this generation are being accepted and not viewed as a negative judgement. They do not stop anyone from stepping up to their duties, nor does it impair then from competing task.REPORT COMMENTS

I believe the law itself is ridiculous. Young men and women are willing to put their life on the line for this country, a little ink on their skin should not be the deciding factor on whether or not they are not suitable to do so. Also, how would you feel if a group of marines with tattoos up and down their arms were coming at you? Scary right? That's how the enemy feels and should feel.REPORT COMMENTS

I can understand and even tolerate new policy and procedures. However, for those Marines prior to the new policies should, without a doubt, be fully grandfathered in without repercussions!! These Marines are warriors whom have done their duty and continue to do so. They've stayed true to their word and contracts. Those of you making these new decisions know that if you were on the front lines you wouldn't care what tattoo that Marine had. The only thing you'd worry about is if that Marine was the best at what his been trained to do! Stand by your brother. Stand by your words for those who were suppose to be grandfathered in. Stand for those warriors whom have stood for us all!REPORT COMMENTS
