I also believe fully removed tattoos on any part of "prohibited" areas should not need waivers.

My entire life I have dreamed of becoming a marine like so many family members and friends before me have. I was denied this because of a large tattoo on my left forearm. It is in no way offensive or anything of the sort. I am incredibly saddened by this. I don't want to join another branch either. My entire life's dream was just shot down.

Who determined that body art defines the person you are, and what do these same geniuses have to say about the high ranking officials, with no tattoos, who are being rightfully accused and/or are on trial for sexual assault? How many potentially great soldiers/sailors/marines have been turned down over something that sounds like an 85 year old preacher came up with? I have a small tattoo that can easily be covered with two fingers, or a watch, that isn't coming off as fast as I'd like it to, and might just not come off at all. Am I supposed to believe that this makes me unfit and unworthy to serve my country? Where is the logic and fairness in that?

I was denied several times from becoming one of the few and the proud... I had a one inch tattoo( a penny size) on my right hand near my knuckles, and was turned down because of this distasteful policy... It is my dream to become one of the tough fighters in United States.... I will never drop or loose my dream... After I finished my tattoo removal sessions, I'll meet my local recruiter again... spent almost a thousand dollars for tattoo removal.. it did work, and my tattoo is fading or disappearing... Thanks god, for helped me... This is my dream... Semper Fi...

I'm 19 years old I belive if your gonna serve your country go for the best but due to the tattoo policy I'm not able to enlist and it sucks because I belive this can be my only option to start my life and get the opportunities life has to offer being a marine I really hope they dismiss this policy soon .

My name is nick 19 years of age. I wanted to enlist in the marines but i was told i couldnt because my tattoos come to my wrist. I dont think its right that anyone should be told they cant serve because of there tattoos. I do understand not having them on you hands fingures or neck and i also understand the no gang or vualguer tattoos. But if man or women want to serve and have tattoos to there wrist i think they should be allowed to serve.
