No more "catch and release" of criminals. Give the individuals with the responsibility and training the authority to catch and detain without being subjected to lawsuits. It is disrespectful to list them as "law enforcement officers" only after they have given the last full measure while ignoring them as such while alive.

If the Congress thought enough of this to pass LEOSA, and President's thought enough to sign laws into effect, then the Department of Defense should obey those Federal Laws. DoD should be ashamed to violate Federal Law and not have to force the Congress and the President to pass more legislation specifically directing DoD to obey the laws of the nation.

I request your support in this issue. The government should be responsible to those who are responsible for it's protection. The recognition afforded by this bill are justified and rightfully earned.

I am a Retired United States Marine, A former Police Officer for Oak Harbor Wa, and Millington Tenn, Veterans Affairs Police Officer and currently A Department of Defense Police Officer. I am a police Academy Instructor with the additional certification to instruct SFST / DUI, Lidar/ Radar, EVOC, Non-lethal weapon, Weapons ranging from 9mm pistol, shotgun, M-16, M-240 Machine gun and am currently the Field Training Officer (FTO) / Coordinator (FTOC) for this department. I have never understood how the DOD officers are entrusted with so much more responsibilities such as, protection / security teams for any one of major importance, not limited to and to include the President of the United States, members of the United States Congress, High ranking military service member(s), military veterans, government employees and private citizens. I do not understand. Why are we, the United States of America, limiting ourselves on the safety of all persons by limiting the capacity of our Police Officers? I would surely hope that if a family member of mine found, yours or anyone?s, themselves in a dangerous situation; and there is a federal Police Officer there (DOD), He will have the tools to render assistance. (i.e. weapon).

The stubborn refusal to do this seems simply a matter of money, but as exemplified by the Fort Hood incident, our troops deserve the very best in Law Enforcement resources, Standardized training through FLETC, matched with the guts and determination of these Police Officers would grant maximum use of the potential these officers now posess. This cannot be matched by "private security" on the cheap. What these officers are asking for is no different than other police officers anywhere, the ability to protect themselves and affect a felony arrest if they observe a crime regardless of juridiction. This in effect would add hundreds of Law Enforcement officers everywhere with police powers at very little comparative costs when contrasted with even hiring a local cop. This in the age of asymmetric threats and active shooters, coupled with worsening economic conditions which are forcing the reduction in local and state resources and even federal support, this could help thicken the thin blue line, Personnally I would even forego the pay increases, I simply realize the absolute need for this to happen, much respect to all concerned, and best regards. Stay safe, Patrolman David Green.

As a DA Police Officer I am subject to the discretion of the CG (Commanding General) of the military base I'm at. I have seen senior military officers get off scott free because they know the CG.

its absolutely ridiculous at they can't!! i mean, average citizen can make a citizen arrest in the state i live, as long as soon as they apprehend the individual or individuals, they bring them to the county jail, or before a magistrate judge without further detainment. we are all allowed to carry guns protected under the constitution of the united states, so why not???
