I in no way condone any violation of the laws of God or Man. However, just as when we punish our children, we are to train, correct, forgive, and love them. Our justice system, for this category of people, has failed to close the loop on what is needed. That is to have compassion, and allow them back into a law abiding contribution to their future, after having paid their dues to society. Amazing that we travel the globe and use military might to stop atrocities abroad, yet in our own treatment of educated, and remorseful people, we do not show the same concern. Please pass this legislation and give American's a second chance to redeem themselves in society.REPORT COMMENTS

I served as a 3rd party gardian for one of these people for 7 months who since then has almost completed a bachelors degree, has held a full time job, gotten married, had a child...(in wedlock and that's saying alot these days)...and tried his hardest to make up for wrongs of the past.REPORT COMMENTS

By not accomplishing the goal of this bill, we are actually perpetuating a climate which makes it far more likely that these people will return to criminal activity.REPORT COMMENTS

You can't imagine what it is like to be branded forever for a long ago mistake that you have already paid for. Forget getting a real job, much less with health insurance or 401k. Why don't we give people a chance to rejoin society and support their families? Wealthy and influential people like athletes and corp execs have expensive lawyers and pretrial diversion to protect them when they break the law, but we want to punish regular people forever if they mess up once. Pass this bill, for mercy's sake and get people back to work paying taxes.REPORT COMMENTS

HR1529 is a practical and humane solution to a draconian punishment which harms people who deserve a second chance. Please work to pass this good bill which will cost taxpayers nothing and will put people back to work rather than back in prison.REPORT COMMENTS

I have been on parole for 14 yrs. I was laid off back in March from a job a held for 7 yrs due to the economy. Now it is July and I have still not received a job offer. My skills are wonderful and I'm a great employee, but I'm being punished each and every day because I'm a felon. I have a 12 year old daughter to support, I am a homeowner and a tax payer. This has got to change. I have never been on any state assistance and hope to never be. I also don't want to lose my house to foreclosure and end of in a government apartment. This is not a place I want to raise my child. I have worked hard to get where I am today, now I might lose it for something that took place 21 years ago. The eyes of society has got to change. If you are a felon and come home, more then likely you will go back. ONLY because you are not given a SECOND chance, we are looked down upon around every corner we go around. Please put something together to help us. Not only do I deserver better, my daughter deserves much more...REPORT COMMENTS

The reality of "Life" sentences for simply an arrest let alone a conviction is based on everything (either correctly or incorrectly) being entered into a computerized data base. The existing standards are CRUEL.REPORT COMMENTS

Please give those who have made a bad choice a new chance at proving themselves and living a productive life! I am a single mom and have a federal felony, finding a job is hard enough much less having this continue to haunt me. I have "paid my debt to society" yet I am still being punished years later. Please pass this so I can move on with my life!REPORT COMMENTS
