Anyone deserve a second chance. For this petition to be passed a bill should not take a lot of effort from congress. This is a common sense bill that should signal to Congress there is something that needs to be done to help the American people that are affected through unemployment, housing and just life. We all need to work without our past backgrounds from 20-30 yrs ago affecting us. America is suppose to be home of the free!!!!

Don't they know the definition of "REHABILITATED?" You pay your debt and out the A$$ financially and do everything the courts & probation/parole ask you to, and for what? To be treated as if your still a no good low life! Sometimes people deserve a "second chance" not slaming doors!

People should not have to pay for the rest of their lives. Even President Clinton and our current President has admitted to doing illegal drugs. Celebrities are excused from crimes all the time. My husband did something bad when he wasn't even old enough to drink yet but he still has to pay for that bad decision every single day. America is supposed to be the land of the free, where if a person does mess up and pay for their crimes should be granted another chance and that is plainly not the case. There are so many "good" people out there that unfortunately got caught for doing the wrong thing and I pray that this bill will pass and end the suffering of so many. God Bless all of you out there!

There are a lot of people that get in trouble for being at the wrong place at the wrong time. There are some that has paid their debt to society. Some has an honest heart and wants to change. So why is it so hard for a felon to get a job?

I committed one non-violent crime more than 10 years ago as a teenager and it has affected me every single day of my life since then. I did not serve any jail time and received 3 years probation and was required to pay full restitution. While I completed my probation and fully paid my restitution many years ago, I am still severely impacted by this conviction. While I have a graduate degree, I still have zero job mobility and earn substantially less than would be possible if an expungement were possible for federal felonies. With background checks so prevalent and employment options so limited for people with records, I can understand why people revert to crime. But, what I can't understand is why the federal government refuses to take action.

I think this is particularly important as we continue to lower the age where a minor can be charged as an adult. You now can have a 16 year old saddled for the rest of their lives with this conviction. It also impacts people from being able to rent housing as landlords don't want to rent to convicted felons.

I am sick at the fact that an ex-felon that has paid their dues and is a good family man can not find a job just because of a past mistake. The Government needs to help them to better themselves and get a good job. Thank you.

Anyone with a conviction is effectively in prison for life - no matter how much good they can provide for society. Our system makes no sense.
