I have been arrested, the charges were dropped, but I get the same treatment. I have two children that I adopted, and have child support payments, can anyone help ?

I totally agree. If sentenced for a crime, and the sentence is completed, then the debt to society is fufilled. Allow these men and women to gain thier lives back. Allow them the opportunity to come up from the depths that they were at and start free and clear a new life. The stigma they carry with them prevents them from so many opportunities, and in some cases, puts them right back in jail due to more positive options being cut off to them based on their "record". The punishment continues for a lifetime.

I am currently unemployed and supporting my 2 Daughters. The job market is bad enough, but if you have a felony on your record it is ten times harder to find a job, I mean a "decent" job, not at McDonalds.

I think this bill is great, I also think this bill should be for all non-violent offenders, federal or State convictions. Not just Federal. If this bill does not pass it was because you did not have both- Federal And State Convictions. Why not get to birds with one stone. Thank You Kevin

I too have dealt with this for about the past 13 years, I made a whole string of mistakes in my younger years, but at about age 25 I had my first child and that totally changed me. Since 2000, I have only had a single slip up, a DWI in 2008, which I served out my entire probation for, passed all my drug tests, etc... With that being said, is it really fair to have me pay for my past mistakes for the rest of my life? This not only affects me, but it also hurts my children which I have to provide for. Wake up America! There is a HUGE untapped pool of hard working people that are being completely and totally shunned!

I am covicted felony and i have fought just get my hazmat cdl endosment. So i know first hand how hard it is to get employment. They should pass this bill then the ecomony would turn around cause you have people who want to work but can't do to they can't pass the background check. Once they see you have a felony coviction its over before it start

Not all jobs should require a person to have a background check and the companies who automatically run background checks regardless of the position you are applying for and exclude a felon or even a person with a misdemeanor makes it difficult to outlive your past and get on with the person God intended you to be, which is a succuessful and productive member of society.

I was young when I got involved with the wrong people. I am now 28, graduated from college, and I still cannot find a job with my degree because of a federal felony. This is very discouraging. I'm not sure how the government expects us to become better people in society if no one will give us a second chance. Not everyone with a felony charge is a bad person. People can change. The ones that do change deserve some consideration.
