It is regretable that some of these type of mistakes have such a compounded punishment. Most of these offenders committed crimes as a result of stupidity. I beleive everyone has had thoses moments. My step son is one. My wife and I have started an NPO called Felon Assistance. We are trying to find employers that will hire felons. We too have extreme difficulty finding folks jobs. You must be persistance. More followups, more face to face visits, etc The commenter on "making more men and women was absolutely correct" -

When I was 13 years old i didnt know that it was wrong and I had a indecency with a child and I had to register tell I was 24 years old I have a felony when I was 20 we moved to an other house with my parents and I didn't let the officer know where I was living at and I had to do 3 year of probation and pay a 100 dollars to my probation officer a month. I just got dune registering. and the texas of public safty is taking me of the enter net when they git to it and Ive been waiting for three months for them to do so .So my recoerd can be closed for when I was a minor. I did every thing that I needed to do to make my life better. I haven't been in truble ever since and a recruiter told me that I couldn't join. I think If a person wants to make his or her life better and that pays there taxis should have a chance to prove there self. Because joining the army will help a person to get there life straiten out and honor and respect to other people. Please Mr. president help. I know what I did is wrong but I did my time in a detition center and I went to boot camp and register for the biggest time of my life . So again please help us make our life's better.REPORT COMMENTS

Doesn't seem to apply - my understanding of it was you do your time and come out to turn over a new leaf but If you aren't hireable for decent living wage jobs AND OUR GOVERNMENT says no to enlisting then how do they become responsible members of society.
