Teachers should be only held accountable for what happens at school. Government should pass a bill that holds parents/guardians and the student accountable. More than 50% of parents do not follow up to see that their child did the homework or reads a chapter of a book daily. The average student does not want to work at home and many prefer to socialize inside of school than focus on their education. More technology is not the answer....students have to learn to think and problem solve without using a calculator. There are students in sixth grade math classes that do not know to multiply or divide numbers of less that 100.

It is demoralizing to our hard working teachers, specially when they work in areas where parents are illiterate and don't care about their children's school work or schools that don't have the tecnology new ones or more affluent areas do. And those teachers that got a Master Degree to be better educators are now in debt and their salaries are subject to the area they work at and not their knowledge. Parent also play a big role on children performance and everday they want to take less responsability for the kids development.

I am not a teacher. I am a parent with 2 children starting school in the next two years and I am terrified of what they face. Please help our children and our teachers. Ask yourself what you would want for your own child.

How can you hold teachers responsible for the complete education of our children. Parents definitely have to be involved in their children's educations. How can a teacher be held responsible if parents don't do their share.

Please help. Surely our children matter? I have been teaching in Florida for 16 years and my daughter is 7 and in first grade. My husband is a Physical Education teacher and is in danger of losing his job. This can not be happening. How can we be failing the future of our country? I know you can help. Please-

I am not a teacher, but a PTSA President. I support our teachers. Please keep teaching a priority.
