I am appalled at the bill that the State of Florida wants to pass!!! What incentive is there left for young people, or old, to be a part of the teaching profession!!! No extra pay for advanced degrees??? Why would anyone want to further their education and PAY for tuition at colleges if these people will go unrecognized! What is going to happen to the colleges and universities enrollment?? Who will keep those schools alive? How do you plan on leveling the playing field? I teach at a school that has an 85% free and reduced lunch population. How about trading schools with me and those who teach in gifted schools? Where is the equity! You are making teachers angry and bitter. No longer will any of us put in an extra second to benefit those who do not want to benefit us!!!!

Three of my colleagues recently left the teaching profession because they are fed up with the unfair practice of judging teacher competence based on testing. Our students are sentient beings and not raw products coming through an assembly line. Let's move to realign public education so that we are actually teaching kids how to think independently!

My son is currently a student at the University of North Florida getting his degree in Secondary Education. Now he's wondering why? What do I tell him. Well?

I think what our elected officials are doing to teachers is disgraceful.I know that I will not vote for ANYONE who voted to pass this bill. It not only hurts our teachers but will effect our students as well. If our elected officials would let our teachers teach and not just test we would all see a marked difference in our childrens education. It simply is not right for you not to listen to the people who trusted you to imprve education not tear it down.
