This bill punishes ALL for the transgressions of the few. I want to be able to teach my students to think, not just take tests. Please don't let them ruin our education system here in Florida even more. I'm all for reform, but this is not the way to go about it. Thank you!

Teachers cannot control test performance. While they are important, they are not the only variable involved. Student motivation, parental support, IQ, etc. are all factors that go into the learning process. It is grossly unfair to impose "merit" (scapegoat) pay in FL despite large public outcry.

The whole concept of "measure and punish" legislation is flawed and will not bring about student learning gains. There are too many variables that go into the learning process. The teacher cannot control how a student does on test day and it is grossly unfair to hold the teacher responsible for test results.

The FCAT is a failure, Teaching to tests and not teaching actual information that we need in the real world is the failure of our school system in Florida. How many more weeks will teachers waste teaching FCAT when we should be teaching curriculum? The classes I did best in didn't have to teach these bs tests and now there will be more testing for my 6 year old daughter in elementary school because of this legislation. There are also ways to get around this test. I know people that graduated after the FCAT requirements that cant even read! What does that tell you about these tests? They dont really work.

I live in Texas, but since Jeb Bush is behind this, I fear that Texas will be next. STOP THIS BILL. THIS THINKING IS INSANITY.
