The mission of DEA's Office of Diversion Control is to prevent, detect, and investigate the diversion of controlled pharmaceuticals and listed chemicals from legitimate sources while ensuring an adequate and uninterrupted supply for legitimate medical, commercial, and scientific needs. What a joke! This is right off their (DEA) website, too. That is their mission statement. It is the statement of "uninterrupted supply for legitimate medical use" that is such a contradiction. I have lost faith in the voting and legislative process. It benefits the few, only. I guess the government would rather you and I smoke Mary Jane and use heroin( making us criminals under the law), than get our pain meds from the legitimate dispensers of the drugs: the M.D./pharmacy(which will still put us under suspicion). I have dealt with chronic pain for so long that it is now a negative part of my life, like a cancer, and effects everything from sleep to functioning properly during the day, to trying to make a living. Again, the few who made an outcry to the govt. about the pill mills were heard and that was the excuse they(DEA/FDA) needed to enact this farce of a law regarding all pain meds. They left the millions of us behind who suffer chronic pain and get our treatment from legitimate sources. We need a government with "balls" and common sense to overturn this new prohibition on pain medicine. We need an new FDR and a new cabinet with common sense to go against these two entities, FDA/DEA, who have so much power to control these things in America. My government has let me down once again for the needs of big pharma, the drug dealers out there, and the few who have complained in a skewed manner that all opiates are dangerous and need to be banned. This will profit the few, not the many. We are now a country of suspicion and distrust. We are all under scrutiny as criminals or deviants if we complain of pain. Do I think that our government will take us seriously? do I think this prohibition will be overturned? Not likely. There are no FDR's out there and no common sense congress, to overturn this ridiculous prohibition. All we are left with are the pandering politicians, not the strong common sense legislators. I am once again signing on to this petition, but I don't think that Washington intends to hear or suspend the DEA position. The DEA is a big racket and they benefit from illegal drug use as much as the underground dealers. These kinds of rules give the DEA seeming legitimacy.....and jobs. What would we do without a DEA? We would do fine. We did fine for many years before Nixon created the DEA in 1970's. Our freedoms continue to be eroded and nobody seems to care anymore. Einstein said that it is a sign of insanity to do the same things over and over again in addressing a problem, even if they do not work. That was prohibition and that is this new HCP law, as well. The war on drugs needs to end, perhaps not in my lifetime, but i

I not only suffer from chronic pain without being able to find help for my suffering, but as a nurse I am forced to watch and take part in the suffering of others! I've even had to watch as people died in agony while I was unable to help them. Why? Because of bureaucratic red tape. What gives these people the right to write laws that cause suffering and loss of dignity for millions of Americans? They stand on a moral soap - box yapping about the fight against drug abuse and how THEY have the answers to fix the problem. Yet they shake their heads in confusion unable to figure out why heroin overdoses are skyrocketing. How sad that THESE are the geniuses we voted into office. I sincerely hope they never find themselves in the situation they have tragically put so many of law abiding, pain suffering Americans in. Or worse, find someone they love on their deathbed begging for relief and all the nurse has to offer is a Tylenol they can't even swallow.

I am a disabled US Air Force Veteran who suffers from extreme pain due to 4 bad discs in my back, stenosis pinching on my nerves, both my knees are torn from jumping in and out of planes, and I have an even bigger laundry list of injuries developed when I was serving my country and defending our freedom. Due to my profession, for which I obtained a Masters Degree, I have to sit in front of a computer all day, which aggravates my pain. I want to know who these entitled DEA jerks that encroach upon my liberties think they are. Where are my American liberties which I fought defending? How dare they decide that veterans can't get proper pain management anymore? We deserve it, we earned it, we fought for it! I am not an addict, if I were, I wouldn't be able to do my job properly, nor would I have been able to get my Masters Degree after leaving the military. I'm just trying to provide for my family and I want my pain to be managed while I do so. Go after the addicts, but leave us Veterans alone! We fought for your freedom, and now that we are facing the consequences of our service to our country the DEA decides to intervene and treat veterans like we are some out-of-control criminal addicts? I was prescribed gabapenting to substitute my Percocet, and the Dr. at the VA told me it was all natural and without side effects. I googled the thing and side effects include cancer and death. Is this how the US government treats its former troops, like we are just a burden and like we deserve to die? DEA, target the real criminals, leave the veterans who are only trying to seek some sort of pain relief to lead normal lives alone! This is just outrageous!

I THINK THE DEA NEEDS TO STAY OUT OF THE WAY OF CHRONIC PAIN SUFFERERS! SOMETHING TERRIBLE IS GOING TO HAPPEN WHEN YOU SHUT OFF ALL AVENUES OF HELP FROM DOCTORS TO PAIN MANAGEMENT TO PHARMACIES! I HAVE BEEN A CHRONIC PAIN SUFFERER FOR OVER 12 YEARS AND WOULD RATHER BE DEAD THEN LIVE IN THIS HORRIBLE UNSPEAKABLE NIGHTMARE OF PAIN EVERY DAY AND NIGHT! WE ARE GOING TO BE FORCED TO GET OUR MEDICATIONS NOW FROM MAIL ORDER! I SEE NOTHING BUT CALAMITY WHEN ALL THE CHRONIC PAIN PEOPLE ARE DENIED SUDDENLY OF THEIR PERSCRIPTIONS OR MEDICATIONS. I REALLY HOPE THEY NEED TO ROT IN HELL FOR THE HARM THEY ARE DOING TO INNOCENT PEOPLE WHO REALLY NEED THESE! THERE THE PAIN MY DEA FRIENDS ..NEVER GOES AWAY. THIS I WISH ON ALL MY ENEMIES THAT WANT TO HARM US FOR NO REASON. WHAT IS IT?, NOT ENOUGH MONEY GOING INTO YOUR POCKETS? SO GREEDY. COME ON AND OH PLEASE THIS IS NOT FOR OUT BEST INTEREST SO DO NOT TRY AND CRAM THAT DOWN OUR THROATS!

So now legitimate pain.sufferers will have to buy from dealers because they seem to be.the only.ones who can hang out.at pharmacies waiting for shipments to pharmacies to come in and the people who try to work while in pain can't find a pharmacy with any left by the time they get off work. Sad when you feel like you have to sink to illegal methods because you hurt so badly. This only helps the dealers and now they make even more money for the pills. Absolutely retarded that the DEA has the power to tell us what we need or don't need all without the medical license that the doctor worked and studied for along with seeing me each month but oh wait the idea did not do any of that but knows I don't need meds.

This new law is just another example of our government penalizing the innocent person that truly needs their pain medication just to function a somewhat normal life, although the pain never subsides it allows chronic pain sufferers to live a productive and thriving life. This new law is majorly discriminating against the seniors and the disabled Not every one in the United States are drug addict nor do they abuse the system. .

D.E.A. interference with Doctors rights to treat their own Patients accordingly is truly inhumane. When are the Citizens going to band together & File a Class A lawsuit against this organization ? It's unjust to force or coerce physicians to deny proper medical attention to their patients. ALL Physicians take the Hippocratic Oath prior to service. This is a portion of it: " With regard to healing the sick, I will devise and order for them the best diet, according to my judgement and means; and I will take care that they SUFFER NO HURT or damage. " .....Now, Even though disregarding their Oath is Not Legal standing for a lawsuit, It's still Inhumane to leave people in extreme pain !!!

As someone who lives in a rural area it is inconvenient and expensive to constantly go to a doctor. Most MDS will not post date scrips .The scare tactics of the DEA works by making it impossible for law abiding citizens to live with their illness pain is real and it can take over your life .I cannot take nsaids due to a nephrological reason I have an MRI that backs up all my claims. without meds I think I would even consider a poc.ket knife and a mirror to cut out my disc I'm in pain all the time this is how desperate you get I think we should vote as a nation and see what we the people think not a nanny government. We can make our own choices also I never share my med and I will not buy illegally I will just suffer and pray that GOD helps us all.

The DEA or law makers who have enforced these pain medication restrictions apparently do not understand what it is to have someone in your life with chronic pain!!!!!! This new decision to turn over people with chronic pain to pain clinics is a huge mistake. Your personal doctor who is familiar with your medical history is more informed with you and your medical condition rather than sending you to a cattle call pain clinic where they do not know your medical history and your illness over time. Do you know what it is like to see someone you love suffer so badly every day with pain??? It is bad enough they have to get up and go to the doctor every month to go get the medicine when they are in pain. They have to do whatever the pain clinic says in order to get their pain medicine and they will do it because they are in pain. The pain clinic prescribed Lyrica and with the patient objection to this, but she had to take it because the pain clinic says so and she is in pain. In the case of someone in my family who already suffers from many painful diseases was prescribed Lyrica and she had a bad reaction to the medication, mind you she didn't want it because her system is very sensitive and already the drug has 28 reported cases of this drug giving you Nephrotic Syndrome and sure enough that is exactly what she got after taking Lyrica because the pain clinic said she had to take it in order to get her pain medication. Now she is swollen up with fluid all over and it has put a strain on her heart and prognosis is not good. When she went to a nephrologist, this doctor said the pain clinic had no business giving a heart and kidney patient Lyrica. I am outraged by this!!! I have to hear someone dear to me suffer every day because the pain clinic put her in a life threatening situation which she may never recover from. If her regular doctor would have treated her for the pain, she would have known better than to prescribe such a drug. I don't understand the reasoning for taking pain care out of the hands of qualified trained doctors and putting it in the hands of cattle call pain clinics that apparently have the right to dismiss you at any time if you don't accept their treatment even if it is something that is harmful to your health. Maybe you think patients can stand up for themselves more? If you know someone who deals with extreme pain every day, then you know they don't have much fight left in them because they don't feel well to begin with. This decision to take the pain care out of hands of qualified personal doctors and put it under the watch of the DEA and cattle call pain clinics is a colossal humanitarian error!!!!!!!! These patients have jumped through hoops and have been wheeled in or crawled to the pain clinics for help and the situation is made worse by what has been done here. This decision to send the chronic pain patients to clinics is wrong. Wrong because they have yet another doctor they have to go to. It is hard enough to have to see

The war on drugs has gone off the rails and the innocent are suffering. What happened to common sense? How is this giant group think the DEA & GOV. came up with make sense .. in the end people will have to find drugs in ways they never would have resorted to in their lives! Pain is a silent killer. Wake up.!!!! Not all Drs. Were dispensing meds like candy, not all patients took them irresponsibly. In fact very few of either fit this.

I have spent most of my life avoiding Dr's all together. As a child taken in for just minor thing's Dr's found that for some reason pain meds have very lil effect on me, for example the dentist, where one might need a, as in one little shot in the gums to numb them, it takes 3-5 or more for it to wk on me. As a child several time's I was told it was just fear of the pain and that I was faking or it was all in my head. As a result my trust for healthcare has always been little to no. As an adult it has only gotten worse, I have 3 children but was unable to have them naturally, now imagine trying to explain my crazy drug issue's , any numbing or pain meds it takes crazy amounts to wk but any stimulants like in cold meds I can barely take a baby's dose because I wont be able to sleep for a week. And anti inflammatory's like ibuprofen I can't keep down from horrible stomach aches. Yep you know it every Dr I've tried to explain this to has immediately put me in the junkie category! My first C-section they actually started cutting me while I could still feel it, before the monitors went crazy proving I wasn't just after a high! And the second and third didn't go a whole lot better even with proof from records from the first and second. So other than my mandatory 6 wk check ups releasing me back to wk I avoid Dr's unless I'm half dead. A car wreck, 2 bad fall's and 20 yrs of over working added to 3 bad c-sections I was to the point it hurts to bad to carry a full laundry basket from the bathroom to the laundry room with out stopping once or sometimes twice, let alone a full or even part time job at this point. The first 3-4 year's I just hide away in my house because I know how they think of me when I explain, but at 4 yrs it was so bad that I just started making appointments after finger pointing appointments. It took me a yr to finally find a Dr who was willing to do the digging in my medical chart and to stick his neck out to give me the meds I need to at the very least be a functioning member of my family, a mother, and a wife. Yet the DEA is always harassing the clinic and threatening my Dr's license just for giving me and those like me the help we need just to get threw the day. I live in Arkansas and have to go to Oklahoma because Dr.s here are not allowed to give me what I need, and now they are trying to do the same in Oklahoma. So please everyone who has ever been in pain or had to watch a loved one suffer because Dr's are taught not to care, or are just plain old to scared to help, SPEAK UP and tell our government, of the people, for the people that chronic pain dose not equal junkie!

People with chronic pain have a very poor quality of life and oftentimes cannot adequately care for themselves alone unless their pain is minimized. Help the people that need it the most with the drugs that were meant to help them

Drs and patients need to take a stand and fight for the rights of chronically ill patients. I have severe pain and being with out my medications would mean no quality of life, I am already limited to what I can do. I wish that the people who make these laws could feel our pain for a month or so and maybe you would be more compassionate to those who suffer.Sick and tired of being sick and tired and not getting the care that I so deserve.

Are there any lawyers or congressmen reading these posts? Are there any congressmen posting, or doctors, or lawyers? Where are all the people in power? I think that we should vote all our legislators out of power. Every last one. I vote for a complete turn over of the FDA and DEA. Both of those entities are corrupt and hold way too much power over the lives of ordinary Americans. DEA was put into place by Nixon, if I remember rightly. And hence the so-called war on drugs began. Only, it was more like the beginnings of prohibition, which, if history serves, was repealed and never reconsidered. This is what needs to be done with the DEA. The government has the power to change things, but refuses and that is why it needs complete and utter turnover. The FDA needs complete turnover, as well. It has done more harm than good over the last twenty years regarding safe pain management. And, as usual, the government goes after the individuals. Instead of going after the M.D. pill mills and the pharmacies that fill the ridiculous scripts, the government goes after you and me, the ones that need the relief that these meds bring. Again, logic turned upside down. the polls won't change anything in this America of ours. Only a complete and total turnover will begin to solve the issues within our way of governing. This means giving control back to the responsible MD and pharmacist, targeting the crooks, going after the dangerous illegal drugs, and blanketing patients with appropriate education regarding their meds. This is sane management. We have reached a tipping point where our government no longer makes any sense, let alone good, informed, decisions. It is time for another revolution to begin. A revolution to take back this country from the large lobbies, the FDA, DEA, large corporations that now reside comfortably within the halls of government. There are not checks and balances, only overwhelming power by agencies run amok!

The government is interfering between the patient, Dr relationship. For those that like Obama, he is the root cause trying to curb overdose. In all reality, chronic pain suffers are not looking for a high, just looking for function to daily life. Herion is easier to get than opioids for pain mgmt from a Dr. Since the DEA decided to play doctor. Everyone has the risk of chronic pain at some point in their lives, related to their jobs or even injury playing football In the front yard with your kids. Drug addicts need help, chronic pain suffers need relief, otherwise we have no need for Drs if they are unable to provide pain relief, which is one of the main reasons people visit their drs. When physicians see the bottom line being effected, they will stand up against the Government. Drs. Took an oath under the law to help people, the integrity has been compromised. I talked to Pam Bondi's office yesterday and was given an excuse. Remember these people during election times. I have failed back surgery syndrome and refuse more surgery because more failure is imminent . My problem started during exercise while riding a bike. The new friendship path off Gandy Blvd , someone threw something on the path a I ran over it, falling on my left shoulder and hip, resulting in necrosis or dead bone from trauma, needing a total left hip rep, replacement which failed from improper size placed by the surgeon, resulting in much destruction to the low back from being one half in difference in leg length, requiring a second replacement necessitating a 3 level lumbar fusion, which failed. GOD BLESS US ALL, our government and healthcare has failed and will crumble. I always told my husband, the next thing the government will control is the toilet paper you use.

Simply disgusting as the DEA is playing god with all of us. This needs to end and we as chronic pain sufferers need protections and new laws passed that prohibits the DEA from interfering with our lives. If I could not receive my monthly supply then I cannot have any type of life which with the medicine now barely affords me. They are breaking laws left and right without any thought to the thousands that signed their names here. Someone in Washington PLEASE HELP.

Gee thanks!!!! I have had two major back surgeries, the second of which resulted in a spinal fusion. Also, of no less pain is all the other geriatric meltdowns that are increasing exponentially with age! Not only will I most likely have to miss work to get my Hard Copy script's', it will cost me $32 in gas and 3-4 hrs of my time. What's worse, I will have to lift 100lbs, in order to transfer my special needs daughter, a total of 4 X's into and out of the car... EVERY MONTH- (to pick her up and put her into the car, to go into the DR.'s office, then back into the car and once more when we get home). Not everyone has the support of a significant other or people available at the beck and call. As was, before your meddling, i only lifted her to go to the ER. So, go figure, thats 48 more risks of increasing the odds that i may end up in a wheel chair like her. Then we'll both be in assissted living at the expense of "everybody else". As for suffering... your turn will come.

Please re-evaluate the way patients with chronic pain are diagnosed and treated. There are those that are truly in lifelong pain and require medications in order to have any quality of life, some require medications to simply get out of bed and dressed.

I am ashamed to be American right now. How dare our government step in and play the role of our"Doctor" I have dealt with chronic pain for over 25 years. I have severe degenerated disc disorder with an annular tears. Only within the last 5 years I have been treated with opiate medication and it has been a godsend. The medication has enabled me to be able to play with my children and work the 60 hour weeks required to take care of my family. Thanks for labeling me as a "Drug Addict" for having a better quality of life with my medication. I am horrified of my next PM doctors appointment. Will I end up like all of the other tragic stories listed on this petition? Will I be stripped of my livelihood by the DEA playing doctor because of drug seekers that have OD'd trying to get a fix? Look at the statistics, over 50% of all drug related deaths involves alcohol or another drug mixed with the opiates. Don't play God! Let our Doctors do their jobs. Drops the mic......
