Is my PCP intimidated by the DEA from prescribing me significant pain meds? The DEA appears to have shut down my PCP with fear of prescribing me anything stronger than Tylenol #3, even though the pain clinic has twice advised her that I MUST have pain relief for an inoperable, intractable, untreatable, and inaccessible foraminal stenosis at the top of vertebra C2, behind the brain stem. I have suffered with this for nearly 40 years, and it was diagnosed as inoperable and untreatable in 1991. Amendment VIII prohibits the federal government from imposing cruel and unusual punishments, including torture. The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that this amendment's Cruel and Unusual Punishment Clause also applies to the states. But it seems that I am being punished for having a C2 vertebra foramen that is calcifying shut into my left occipital nerve. Please tell me what law in the U.S. Code of Laws is violated by a calcifying foramen, that I may defend myself against this cruel, unusual, and unbearable punishment.Nov 2nd, 2014Someone from Greentown, PA signed.

The DEA doesn't go after cartels, they go after the 80% of the public that properly uses their prescribed medications. Shame on them. Then the 20% turn to heroin. Good going DEA. You suck. It will catch up with you eventually.REPORT COMMENTS

What happened to the Intractable Pain Law that passed. You have to treat people in pain. I was granted $280,000.00 for pain management by State Fund Insurance for my proven pain. The "drug cocktail" works on pain it lets you sleep and move. Allow 3 months supply it is a burden for people in pain to drive 3hrs to pain dr. You are asking people who don't sleep well drive and endanger other lives on the road with these rules you have made. Where is the class action suite against this. Who ever passed this has not dealt with real long lasting nerve pain. I hope you all will soon!! Is Hospice effected?REPORT COMMENTS

This is a cruel "ploy" enacted by this Republican Congress in their "war to destroy Obamacare," (as they call the ACA) to say, "see what pain Obamacare has caused all you people to suffer?" Knock it off. You're affecting people with private insurance, although I'm SURE you don't care. Get over your "problem " with the President's skin color, which we all know is your problem, as much as you swear it isn't! As if you had the guts to admit it was your problem! You've done the best job of making an entire nation, even Republicans, to despise you. Stop the games, children! The taxpayers you're messing with pay your salary, although not as much as the Koch Brothers, but there's more of us that will vote you out. NSAIDS are now nearly equal to opiates in deaths caused, bleeding to death from the strengths required to get pain relief, if any, so these poor people keep taking more. Hope you're proud of yourself.REPORT COMMENTS

This is patient discrimination! This is also the result of a misinformed society being fed lies by fear mongering politicians and money hungry drug companies! People who abuse these drugs are the MINORITY! As the rules get tighter, pain patients are being discriminated against and treated like drug addicts! Also, not everyone gets addicted to prescription opiates! This is a fact! Unfortunately, there is not a better alternative for chronic pain management than opiates. This is not the patients fault, and they are the ones who are suffering! If you don't live with chronic pain, you have no right to talk! End the discrimination! Patients need to fight back!REPORT COMMENTS

Just received and responded to canned emails from both Sen. Feinstein and Congressman Bera. Both seem to miss the point in their form responses that sound like they came right off their web sites. Nice they could get back to me, us. I am tired of hearing that the 15,000 accidental OD's are responsible for being the tipping point. Again, those numbers don't accurately tell the story. Illegal drugs and alcohol more than likely played a large part--mixing of drugs--in the "accidental" OD of those 10-15,000 individuals. Not just pills. Nobody mentions the diversion, illegal diversion of thousands of pills every year. The DEA thinks that you and I, the ones in pain, are the ones diverting the pills, and not the criminals who rob the transports. The re-classification of HCP's to class II, along side cocaine, is the most ridiculous law to come out of the "tricky Dick" DEA. Talk about diversion in thinking and acting. They want to make public look like they are doing something about the problem of drugs in this country. Prohibition is not the answer!!!! Education and rehabilitation are the answers. Just not the answer the government wants to hear or plan for. Nope! Taking care of pain is not longer on the agenda. The government is the new MD and Rx. They don't have a license or experience to treat and have never cared for people in chronic pain. Nobody cares!!! Nobody Cares!!! Not the senator. Not the congressman. Not the president. Nobody with any power to change things gives a damn! they are all in it together. Save their chairs, seats, and positions of power, so back the legislation without thinking. That is the kind of thinking that brought us Prohibition, the rules on Sudafed(2006 which haven't changed meth use much at all---all tied to the Patriot act), The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the original war on drugs under tricky Dick....if any of you remember Dick Nixon, the father of the war on drugs. I am mad at the people who brought us here and the ones who have come between me and my physician-----senators, congressmen, the FDA, and the DEA.REPORT COMMENTS

I have suffered from chronic pain after a work injury in 2009. Surgery only corrected half of it. I still have terrible nerve pain down my left hip and left leg. The pain med my doctor prescribes is what gets me through my work days. Without it I would have had to quit years ago and taken a lower paying job that would still cause me pain. I need to work, I am only 32. The medication I take has been demonized lately by the government but that is so unfair to chronic pain sufferers. I have never experienced any negative side effects while taking it. All it has ever brought me is relief. This year I have had to jump through rings of fire to get my prescription filled and can't have refills anymore so I have to see my doctor every 4 weeks. I can handle the increased doctor visits but I shouldn't be made to feel like a criminal for taking a pain medication that truly helps me and helps many others who suffer chronic pain on a daily basis.REPORT COMMENTS

I jumped through all the hoops, I took the pee test, and now my doctor said that the Norco did not show up in the test? What the hell? Clearly the lab made a mistake because I take 1 Norco 3 times a day, every day, for chronic pain. Why didn't it show up in their damn test? And that is reason to cut me off? The doctor looks at me like I'm a criminal. I'm cut off now, because their lab screwed up somehow? How am I going to get up at 4 am and function to get to work with the chronic pain that the medication helped me with? How can I continue to be a productive citizen? This is so wrong, on so many levels.REPORT COMMENTS

How would you like an ice pick shoved into your groin, or a propane torch burning the same area. Well that is the pain I feel every day since a botched ingroinial hernia operation damaged nerves inside my body. Without the pain pills I can't live, plain and simple. Does the DEA understand or even care, no, they've been fighting a losing battle on drugs for years. All the money they have wasted could have been put to good use, for research to help people like me who through no fault of there own are forced to take pain medication. You idiots are killing the messenger, as usual, providing new ways for the Mexican mofia to make money and kill thousands of more people. Leave me and my doctor alone or face the consequences. I have a constitutional right to the pursuit of happiness and without medication to ease my pain I will have no life at all.REPORT COMMENTS

The DEA latest ploy in the war on drugs takes aim at the very people who are in greatest need of the very medications they are trying to limit access to; those like myself who are in chronic pain. My story is I had a hernia surgery in 2009 that went terribly wrong and has left me in terrible, sometimes un-bearable pain. My doctor was there right from the start and without his help I doubt I would be alive today. None of the people in the DEA or the Obama administration understand what it is like to be in chronic, inoperable pain or they wouldn't be wasting tax payer money on this latest foray into government trying to save those who abuse and misuse prescription medications for the fun of it while those of us who need these medications are forgotten about and made to suffer even more. Americans use more drugs than any other country in the world, both legal and illegal, but in this case they are purposely picking on those of us with chronic pain, making it more difficult and expensive to get the medications we need to survive. There is no fun in chronic pain, nor is it fun to have to take medications everyday just to survive, but if they spent money on R&D instead of this latest foray to save a few abuses, then maybe many of us wouldn't need pain medications in the first place. This misguided approach to the problem will drive people to street drugs, to unregulated Internet drugs, to maybe make someone who is pain take it out on innocent people because their government has decided to scare doctors to not prescribe medications that are needed for chronic pain. Believe me, bio-feedback is not going to get rid of the pain I am in everyday. Stand up Americans and tell the government they have over stepped big time and will ruin more lives than they will save.REPORT COMMENTS

I suffer 24/7 from severe pain of the spine which has caused nerve damage & fibromyalgia, arthritis, Which now my whole body hurts to the point where I can't work anymore & can barely get up let alone walk for more than an hour. I'm only 49 yrs. old & for the past 3 yrs. haven't been able to leave my home or do anything alone, nor can I go & enjoy any fun activities with my family or kids. I didn't like my pain management doc. so I left & my family phys. referred me to another. I just received a message from this new doc. refusing to treat me for reasons they will not tell me. I have an MRI showing a large bulge in my lower back & was told that I need surgery, but the doctors tell me I'm to young for surgery, that it would be a domino effect, one after another. I also suffer from IBS , severe anxiety attacks, depression, PTSD. I've been on many meds. for my illnesses & no for a fact that I'm not addicted to anything, bc my pain meds make me sick. NOW THIS! Being refused treatment & suffering in pain. Yes legit people are being forced to the street. I've been studying medical cannabis & the illnesses that you can benefit from. Even though it's not legal for medical use where I live, but eventually will soon. Last winter I decided to try it. To my surprise I was back to my old self again, but had to remember to take breaks about every hr. so I wouldn't cause the bulge to swell, but I FELT GREAT! Out of fear of it not being passed for med. purposes I went back to the legal way & all those pills, which made me sick & put me back down again. If the doc. is going to refuse me treatment & make me suffer then they leave me no choice. I'm going to do my own treatment. Some people may not agree, but then again some people should try it themselves. Never be treated like an addict again by a doc. or pharmacist. My family at first was against what I was thinking of doing, until they saw for themselves, the way I was on all those pills & the huge diff. they saw when I smoked just a little bit a couple times a day. The response I got was, now there is the girl I miss so much & they are backing me up on it 100%. Weather or not you live in a state where you can get it from your doc. Try it just one day & see if it works for you. The gov. are not helping legit people. They ARE hurting them & forcing them to the streets. Just my own personal findings that I can treat ALL of my illnesses with just one thing & without the help or humiliation from others that are SUPPOSE to help.REPORT COMMENTS

I have $ 5,000 of drugs in my cupboard that I have tried.....lyrica, Cymbalta, Celebrex, the Butrans patch. I also have had 15 MRI's in 10 years, verifying this condition. I also go to physical therapy and a chiropractor. All the expensive drugs mentioned above did nothing. Now, I am going out of the country, in a few days. My vicodin and soma prescriptions will run out, in the middle of my vacation. What the heck am I supposed to do??? My doctor and I have a very close relationship, and she has monitored me for years. Now, the pharmacy says they cannot provide me with a "vacation" refill. Apparently, this is drug addicts trick. Well, I have my flight and hotel itinerary that I can provide the pharmacy.....and they still say they can't fill it. I suppose, as some point, we can file a class action lawsuit, when enough chronic pain patients decide they are tired of the government playing doctor. ...sort of like insurance adjustors telling a body shop how they can repair your car. Who is in charge here? Your personal physician or a government, we now, that is filled with self serving knuckleheads. Leaving on my trip in a few days, and, I told my husband, I may have to stay in my room for the entire vacation, when the spasms lay me out.REPORT COMMENTS
