I don't understand why this is happening to people like myself who have documented chronic pain. People who don't Dr. or pharmacy shop. People who just want to have as much pain free, quality of life as they can. Go after the people who don't have MRI's, X-Rays, a long history of documented pain, aren't on SSD for said health issues... Don't "lump" us in with the street dealers.REPORT COMMENTS

Stop allowing the DEA to bully doctors into treating patients with REAL and debilitating medical issues like common criminals and drug addicts! If our elected officials don't intervene there will be more people turning to street drugs and suicide an their blood will be on your hands!REPORT COMMENTS

Pain is real. Chronic pain sufferers did not ask for their affliction. We deal the best we can to contribute to society. Taking away our medicine is only going to put us back into the dark ages and into a hole we can never climb out of. Don't send us to a long painful death with years of suffering. We did nothing to deserve this treatment by our government or our painful conditions. How you treat the weakest shows your true compassion for humanity. Treat us fair and let us get some relief and have some sanity. The Creator is watching......REPORT COMMENTS

For a year I endured anti-inflammatories and 3 bouts with PT trying to help my back. My complaints of pain and inability to sleep at night were often ignored.? 800'mg Motrin did not relieve the symptoms. Finally after I started experiencing weakness in my extremities, falling and incontinence was I taken seriously and received appropriate pain medication and an MRI for proper diagnosis. If you are not your own advocate, it seems you are often lost in the shuffle of insurance and governmental regulation. What happened to the Hippocratic oath??REPORT COMMENTS

There will be an exponential rise in suicides with this legislation. Without pain relief for legitimate conditions and situations, people will not be able to tolerate excruciating pain, every hour of every day. They will give up. I hope families will sue the DEA for these deaths. I am scared to death about my quality of life without pain relief. I have 4 different diseases that cause chronic pain, sometimes to the point of curling up and crying for hours at a time. I will be completely bedridden and most likely will think ending the pain permanently will be the only choice. This is because lawmakers can't figure out how to stop the illegal use of prescription drugs?! Really?!REPORT COMMENTS

Tired of being treated like a criminal for something that I never signed up for. It is not just elderly people who think "why remain if it is only in pain that you do". I was 35 when my pain began and decided to never leave. Even some pain management doctors treat you that way too.REPORT COMMENTS

My daughter suffers from severe chronic pain with numerous injuries/issues since being hit by a drink driver! What she has been subjected to, especially these last few years is absolutely disgraceful!! Trying to control prescription drug abuse is one thing, but how the Gov't (DEA) is going about this is beyond ridiculous!! Now, even the most legitimate pain sufferers who have their records, reports, test results, medical history etc. who need the aid of opioid medications cannot get their medication or, if the Dr is willing to continue the opioid, @ the very least they want to drastically reduce the dosages, which is still leaving the patient in debilitating pain! ! Patients who are living with chronic pain have so many additional challenges to face every day of their lives! They shouldn't have to worry about if they will be able to get their medication each month!! Every person has the right to have their pain treated, even chronic pain patients who have not benefited from other treatments & require opioids to have some quality of life! Unfortunately, instead of the treatment being between the patient & the Doctor, it's the DEA & Government determining treatment & what medications are to be tolerated & acceptable! And unfortunately, it's the legitimate chronic pain sufferers who are paying the dearest price, being left under -treated, in crippling pain & with no quality of life.REPORT COMMENTS

I dont understand why the FDA thinks by rescheduling this drug, it will limit abuse. Oxycontin is a schedule II drug and was the most widely abused drug on the market? Another thing not mentioned, is that most overdose patience, or those with liver disease, mixes the pills with alcohol. And by the way, history shows how miserably the Feds failed with prohibition. These big regulations only affect the honest people, as outlaws will always find a way.REPORT COMMENTS

Today I'm without the necessary meds to treat my chronic pain. I have been treated for chronic pain for close to 30 years by the same doctor until Obamacare forced my doctor to leave the field. My new so called Nurse/Doctor who hasn't read my medical history has cut my meds drastically and refuses to give me the necessary amount that has given back to me what little life I do have. Since she cut the pain meds I take for breakthrough pain (I went from 120 to 30 a month) I am experiencing pain that limits my walking, sleeping, etc. and causing my BP to rise once again to dangerous levels. I almost died once from this chronic pain and I fear this time I will not make it. Something has to be done to stop this abuse against those who are elderly, disabled and require more than the normal amounts of pain medications prescribed. A Doctor should not fear the DEA when treating their patients.REPORT COMMENTS

I suffer from RSD/CRPS it is because of this syndrome/disease and the symptoms like the shooting burning pain to the icy hot pain through my limbs that I take Opioids. I understand there are people that abuse and take advantage but to the person that suffers from RSD/CRPS, chronic pain, migraines, back pain, cancer suffers, Fib., MS, Lupus, and any other disorder, disease, infection, inflammation, syndrome we need to step up to these people that are now going through times of waiting for a certain medication that helps deal with every day pain. It is not our fault, our doctors fault but those who abuse opioids that should be charged and dealt with. Thank youREPORT COMMENTS

I truly suspect the recent Ebola victim was sent home, even though telling twice he had come from AFRICA, by hysterical ER personnel who automatically suspect everyone is drug seeking. Did he trigger a red flag by maybe saying his stomach hurt? Actually, just showing up at any ER flags that person as drug seeking. I won't go, even if a broken bone is sticking out thru skin! I'd likely be accused of doing it on purpose to get drugs. The hysteria is out of control. "Advanced Medicine?" What a joke.REPORT COMMENTS

This is the stupidest new law I have ever heard of. Millions of people die annually from alcohol and cigarette usage, yet these substances are readily available at the store - no prescription necessary. My fiance suffers from MS pain and now will have to visit her doctor every month because of this change. Many people who take their medication as they should are being punished for a handful of people abusing these drugs. It's so ridiculous and unfair to punish everyone and put more of a financial burden on those who really need these medications. This new law needs to be overturned!!REPORT COMMENTS

The DEA's new law means RX pain medications can no longer have refills. You have to submit a new paper RX in person each time you need a "refill" (really a new RX). This unfairly punishes the elderly and those living in rural locations. Plus it's an added cost burden for the patient and time burden for the doctors. All this because some people are abusing pain meds. This is called regulating to the lowest common denominator. Those who abuse drugs matter more to the government than genuine pain patients who are suffering.REPORT COMMENTS
