As a chronic pain sufferer who is helped significantly by hydrocodone I am offended and sacred about the way my own government has chosen to treat me. I can tell you that I feel bad enough as it is without being stigmatized as a drug abuser by my own government. By making it so my doctor is afraid to prescribe it, I feel that you view my problems as less than those of other americans. I was born with a chronic pain condition so now I don't have the right to choose to follow the protocol that my doctor feels is best? Addiction is real, I get that but why am I being punished for others doing something illegal. Please keep in mind that I do use other alternatives (other meds. therapy, physical therapy, chiro, life style changes, and so on) as well and have for at least ten years. The Norco and these other measures combined give me a quality of life to where I can stay off of disability and care for my family and myself. By taking this med away you throw off a careful constructed base that I can't find any other way. Rest assured I'd love to just so I didn't have to deal my government mistreating me. I have the right to choose how to manage my health care. I have the right to find a way to be able to care for my family.

The DEA is causing its registrants (wholesalers, prescribers, pharmacies/Pharmacists ) to discriminate against those that are covered under the Americans with Disability Act.. it is a civil rights violation .. the same as if someone refused service to anyone because of race, religion, sexual orientation...

Im in chronic pain and i cant get treated for it. One doctor wouldnt give me enough medication because he thought i should have surgery on my spine without second opinion or anything else. MY life is a mess and very abnormal. I dont know where to look for help as it seems everyone is afraid of the DEA

My doctor has treated me for four years with one med only for intense back and leg pain, the results of two failed back surgeries. During my 10.06.14 appt. with her she stated she would no longer prescribe the med because it had been moved to Schedule 2. I imagine I am not the only person this is happening to. Shame on my government and the DEA.

As a chronic pain sufferer who is helped significantly by my hydrocodone, but have no insurance, I can t afford to be going to the doctor every month just to get another written script. We feel bad enough as it is without being stigmatized as a drug abuser. And the doctors are afraid to prescribe it. The ones that actually will are few and far between for both of these reasons, addiction is real (we get that), and the govt discourages it. Find alternatives...ok, I ve been looking for alternatives for 15 years. Chiro, massage, therapy, meds, injections, mri s, x rays, blood work, rhuematologist, neurologist, gp..you name it. Please don t punish us, our doctors know what we need.

This pain is real and affects every aspect of our lives. My pain can be verified by MRI but many times, pain can't be seen. Please allow the physicians we trust to treat us and stop making them fear they will lose their license for treating the whole patient. Thank you.

We need to understand that people in actual pain are not faking. We wish to live life like others but cnt because of our pain. We are different, unique, but we are here and we deserve respect

The entire United States Government- all agencies involved with impacting People in Real Pain and the ENTIRE Medical Profession should be ashamed of the way you create Physical Pain in people and then write them off. And you collect money to do it. The Gov't agencies are pain be Tax payer dollars and the Docs collect from the Insurance companies. You get rich and we are expected to suffer in silence and be labeled as drug users. Now I ask you where did we get the Rx's in the first place. Failures you are ll a group of rich failures and you are BLAMING THE VICTIM.

I have been in pain for almost 20 years. I spent my whole career as a firefighter helping people until I was forced to retire because of the pain. What cause my pain you ask? My pain started in 1995 after many years of lifting patients who were in car, in beds, in small bathrooms, on boats, miles back in the woods, any many others places that you cannot lift these patients correctly. These patients weighed any where from newborn babies weighing only a couple of pounds to patients that weighed over 500 pounds! ( i am not criticizing them) So after many muscle sprains and other injuries, I herniated a disc in 1995. I put off surgery until 1999 when I could no longer stand the pain. In 1999 I had my first back surgery which failed after just 11 months and I was no longer actively fighting fire or lifting patients as I was in an administrative position. I have had a total of 3 back surgeries and I am fused in 4 places. In 2010 I was diagnosed with ankylosing sphondylitis which added to my pain. When I went to the doctor to get diagnosed I was in so much pain I could not get dressed and had to be wheeled into the office in a wheel chair! I have seen the effects of drug abuse throughout me career and the last thing I wanted to do was take pain medicine, because I knew the potential risk involved but, without pain medicine I would not be here as I would commit suicide because my pain was beyond a ten. I had no life because of the pain, I could not work, attend family events or even ride in a car. I went from being an avid runner, bicyclist, and golfer to laying in bed trying to find a comfortable position to try to sleep in. Sleep did not come easily which made me a horrible person to deal with! So because of my pain I went to a pain management center, tried acupuncture and any thing else legal to avoid being on pain medication. Much to my dismay, these things did not work and I had to go on pain medicine. I am not a drug addict, but being on pain medicine allowed me to work for 14 more years. Then the pain became too much. I went to work came home and went to bed just to do it all again the next day and I had no life on the weekends. I was a miserable human being! So I retired and I moved to warmer weather which has helped with my rheumatoid arthritis and my pain is normally about a 3-4 with the pain medication but I still have flare ups which take my pain to a ten. I can fish, do some exercise like walking most days but it takes me anywhere from 1-4 hours after i get up to be able to move all my joints. I still cannot go sit at a concert, have a long dinner with my wife, play with my young nieces and nephews or pick up anything weighing more than about 15 pounds without causing more pain. There are days my wife has to put on my underwear pants and shoes and socks, But its better than being dead! My wife is a nurse and she makes sure that I take my medication appropriately. I have been drug tested so many time I can't

Please something has to be done, we are losing our rights to a decent quality of life. Dangerous injections are being pushed on us and not helping our pain.

I have suffered with chronic pain my entire adult life. I am now 53 years old and have no quality of life. When I was 17 years old I was hit by a drunk driver. It broke my neck, broke my pelvis into 8 pieces, caused swelling on my brain, so many internal injuries that I required a lot of blood and died 3 times in the ER, caused severe bruising and sever lesions over most of my body and broke many bones that I do not remember.. I had to learn to walk again. Ten years after they "reconstructed" my hip I had a total hip replacement. I have had pain from all of these injuries my whole life. This petition describes me exactly. Now that doctors are afraid to treat my pain I have withdrawn from life and simply don't really participate in life at all anymore. I spent my whole life having to "arrange" my life around my pain threshold. I was better at doing that when I was younger but now that I am older I find it harder and harder to do each day. I am at my wits end. I was once treated aggressively for my pain. I was able to work and even teach school. Now I am alone and pretty inactive. Doctors are afraid to treat me with the pain medications that helped me. Now the doctors are just something for me to be afraid of because of the change in the laws. I never abused my medications, sold them, shared or did anything illegal with them. I never failed a urine screen and I kept my medications locked up. I feel like a "victim" of these new laws. I have legitimate pain. It is so outrageous to me that I can't have medication that I need to have any kind of life because "the war on drugs" failed and there are just a lot opiophobic people out there who have made life impossible for legitimate chronic pain sufferers. This new approach to actually "not allowing doctors to practice medicine" needs to stop. We are not malingerers or doctor shoppers. We are just in pain. Sometimes suicide does seem the only way out for me but I wouldn't know how to do it successfully anyway. So I just continue to suffer at the hands of the DEA. It's just so wrong.I have a lifetime of medical records and physical scars that prove my case. I thought America was better than this.
