You are ruining my life and many others.my doctor cut me off of pain meds and severed our relationship 4 days ago..today is march 3 2016..I had a work injury..I am 57 yrs old. And thru that it was discovered I was born with a small spinal canal only measuring 7mm. Normal is 10-13mm.because of the defect..my spinal canal can't handle the degerantive process of normAL aging. I am in so much pain! In 2011 a rheumatologist, who also had and injury and understood chronic pain ,prescribed me the above mentioned meds, which gave me some relief..enough to where I wasn't going out of mind in pain# I take 40mm of oxycodone and 60 MG of morphine er a day and I still have to lay on ice packs all day. I had a 3 level fusion in 2012 and I need two more fused. I also need lumbar surgery...my back explodes in pain!! In 2008 my previous provider refused to give me pain meds and I suffered terribly! I told her veteran Arians have more compassion for animals than doctors have for people who have terrible pain . She didnt care and only gave me massive pychotropics..antidepressants nsaids.to deal...they didn't help..I tried to kill myself. .cause I just couldn't handle the pain. .thank god my husband saw that I was preparing to hang my self and stopped me!! Now you are threatening and scaring our doctors so they boots us out and cuts us off cold turkey!! Someone might as well take a gun to my head! You guys are heartless!! And shouldn't be allowed to breathe God's air..I pray he takes your breath for wicked corrupt heartless laws and that your families suffer terribly and no mercy will be shown to them!!! Do unto others as you would like them to do to you...you threw the first punch....vengeance is mine I will repay says the Lord. You politicians are also denying me medical intervention due to a surgery I need done for a hernia, the surgeon's said my pain needs managed before they would operate you have a problem on your hands . I want restitution for my pain and suffering caused by you . This is inhumane. Forced to have mandatory health care insurance . Forced to go on welfare to pay for it. You have made me a slave to pain , you have stolen my freedom and I want it back , you hear me . I was severley injured by going to a pain clinic who gave me 5 steroid injections which caused a tumor to grow and caused an annular tear from my l 5 to my s 1. I dont trust them.. bc i refused to do inj ever again i was kicked out of 3 pain clinics. I suffer with chronic pain and have no life. The tear is only going to get worse and cause more pain. My father has been in cronic pain since he broke his back on the job he is a senor citzen retired army vetran suffering from spinal stenosis which not operable he went to get a spinal block this morning they will not give him proper medication for pain ive never seen my father cry till this has happend to him he wants to take his own life because he doesent want to live like this he caint bear it im worryed because he has never said nothing he didnt follow through with my sister is staying with him an wont leave him out of sight she is makeing shure he doesnt need any help he relly needs help for his pain we caint lose him to this nor can my children lose their paw paw.But i dont want to see him suffer.This problem needs addressed asap doctors need to do there jobs an treat people not kill them because thats exactly whats going on im seeing this first hand so damnit i know its so.Someone has to change the lies that the public belives to be the truth.This is in effect causing familys to lose loved ones.I truly am sorry for any one who has lost friends or familiy due to overdose of prescription drugs there is another side im dealing with suicide from someone not being able to get out of pain to live their life out.REPORT COMMENTS

Doctors want to change the way they treat pain to more expensive treatments. Doctor's are not making any money writing pain perscription even though pain medication is the most effective and cheapest way to treat pain. Doctors make more money on performing expensive steriod injections on the patient. The FDA has not approved these treatments as safe or effective, but won't banned them either, I believe to benefit special interest groups in the industry. It's nothing but untruth spoken about narcotics, the over doses are nothing but exaggerated for there own benifit and gain, we do not have a problem with narcotics in the United States, the numbers do not add up that they are using, please check into it for your self. The CDC says perscription overdoses are killing more people a year than car accident, so they make it sound like it's opiates but it's all kinds of perscription drugs, but they want you to believe it's narcotics. How can this be such a problem when doctors are just not perscribeing these narcotics any more! I think they do need to look into why Medical treatments by doctors are the 3rd cause of death in the US! I've had 4 back surgeries; I'm fused L2 down and both SI joints. My L1 is slipping and my neck is also degenerating. I have chronic pain yet I went over 6 months searching for a doc who would believe my pain and not just label me as a drug seeker. Without any pain medication my life is restricted to the couch except for daily dog park visits for my dogs and my only socializing besides social media. I am not a drug addict; I have chronic pain. It is currently slightly managed but do to the opioid hysteria I'm fearful of asking for more. But even with my pain moderately managed I am able to once again engage in volunteering and being involved in activities important to me. I've seen copies of my records from a walk in clinic that accused me of "exaggerated pain behaviors" when I went in crying from being in so much pain. I've had two psych evals over a 5 year period stating I'm at low risk to abuse and that I do many self managing behaviors to deal with my pain. One of the psychologists said I probably could teach their pain school. And yet I've been shamed by pharmacists and made to feel like a dtug addict by doctors when all I'm asking for is some quality of life. I know the pain will never completely go away but it would be nice to have it pushed to the background rather than be the first thing I think if when I wake and with me all day long. To not start each day asking what needs to be done and what can I do. We need to quit treating people with chronic pain as addicts but treat them humanly and with compassion. Those seeking drugs will always find them. Don't deny opioids to those who need in order to address those who will abuse drugs.REPORT COMMENTS

Write your state Governers office and your state Representative and get everyone you can to do the same. Eventually someone will have to hear us it's just a matter of when. Chronic pain in the extreme, from Type 2 DPN. RLS, spasms, shooting pain and insomnia. All from something not on x-ray...So I told my story to half a dozen doctors, "shopped" for pain relief til the.brink of suicide. Finally, as a last resort, I went to the VA, and luckily found a young doctor willing to listen, and be educated about DPN, via info/research from the Mayo Clinic. I easily could have pulled the trigger one night, If I had only had the hand strength to rack the slide. In my opinion, there is too much emphasis on potential narcotic drug abuse, and not enough on quality of life.. The media SOB stories about poor life choices, emphasise the drug as the culprit, not the underlying societal problems. Chronic pain sufferers pay the price, often with their life! Get the Federal Government out of the patient /doctor confidentiality, and for God's sake, treat the patient! If the patient displays signs of "abuse," a rather nebulous term to begin with, then there a miriad of solutions. Don't let us take our lives, by doing nothing!REPORT COMMENTS

I am disgusted at how those of us who have by no fault of our own, been prescribed legit pain meds in order to just do the basics everyday - and who have no other effective options - are being treated...I recently had a pain management facility that I've been going to since I moved from NY to fla 5years ago - accuse me of trying to man imitate a script and tell me I am an addict who should seek help for my problem. Then they suggested they would still see me (ofcourse they want my money) to do injections which they told me I can not get bc my risk for stroking out during said injections is too high or PT (which I did for over 5years with no relief...I'm Co side ring seeking legal counsel bc I am a type 1 Diabetic who's entire health needs depend on my drs respecting and believing me in my life for daily lifesaving medications etc...but I'm afraid there isn't going to be anyone willing to goto bat for me...I'm so disheartened and now dealing with anxiety over where I'm going to find a Dr to care for me and prescribe my needed pain meds so that I can do the bare necessities to function everyday...does anyone care about the honest and dire needs of us patients anymore??? Why are we being made to suffer and profiled unfairly as to what a legal DOCTOR decided we needed to have maximum relief the SAFE way - decided for our care??? Does it not counting t that I have gone from 5 different meds since my horrible almost deadly accident in 2007 to just one for the past almost 2yrs??? Or that I refused a new script in ADDITION to what is already working well for me, to the very dangerous drug OXYCONTIN - ??? The pharmacist and drs or out of control here and something needs to be done to seperate actual drug abusers from actually legitimate pain sufferers - otherwise they may have a bigger issue on their hands with an increase of suicide and depression...I'm so ashamed at our medical world what they are doing to those of us who count on our rx and medical technology to keep us living the best life possible. ??????????REPORT COMMENTS

- Carolyn In November of 2006 I had a sinus infection. I have always been active and healthy. I rode horses, water skied, snow skied, owned and ran a daycare, traveled and went to college nights for almost 20 yrs. I graduated. I was given Levaquin. Nobody told me about the side effects. I took one pill a day for three days. On the third day I couldn't walk. My health and body is deteriorating. I have severe joint pain all over my body. My toes, knees, ankles, fingers,and wrists. My muscles throb and I need 2 hands to lift a gallon of milk. I severed my left Achilles tendon, got a mesh (I had NO bladder control), I got a new left hip, I have neropathy, Ranaulds on my feet and hands ( they turn blue and red,), my muscle for my rectal seal and cysto seal are gone. I have an interstim box in my back , my spine is disintegrating. The left side of my neck is disintegrating. I have a herniated disk the hits my sciatic nerve, my eyes always tear, I have trouble seeing ( they fog), my hip needs to be redone ( I fell and it came out), I have major anxiety, bad brain fog ( cognitive problems ), migraines and about 5 other procedures done for various problems.. I throw up everyday. Just one of my meds is$2,300 a month the other 20 pills are another grand. Over 3 grand a mth!!!!. I have 21 pills i take a day just to make it through the day. I won't take perks unless I am dying, ( I don't want to get addicted ) sooner or later I will be so bad I will have to. For now I have a license to smoke pot. I will be 48 in January 2016. As of today March 1st 2016 My sine surgeon She says this Arthritis in spine and neck, and back. spine deteriorating c6 to c3. A few disk out. left side of neck deteriorating and nerve damage in my neck, shoulders, arms, down to hips. Ranaulds disorder in feet toes and hands, small fiber neropathy , and neropathy with a good dose of cataracts in both eyes. I knew it but she confirmed it. I brought mom with me to take notes. This Dr did the research and the right tests.. I need to look into pain management in framingham or Waltham. I cried when she told me she researched it..REPORT COMMENTS

my wife is disabled and has been taking hydrocodone under a doctors supervision for the past 10 years. it has allowed her a reasonable quality of life. now that our Dr has retired we can not find another willing to prescribe hydrocodone. when her current prescription runs out we will be forced to try a less effective pain med. her quality of life will be greatly reduced. she is not addicted to the meds, she simply needs effective pain medication. the DEA is trying to protect those who insist on substance abuse and are making it difficult or impossible for those who need these pain meds to function.REPORT COMMENTS
