As a student nurse, I will be a RN in next month, I am appalled that the government is selling this to the public by showing young children that are addicted to heroin. WHY is the government not putting the money into stopping the heroin from entering the US? Not treating patients who have chronic pain is against all medical morals and ethics, and is stopping good hard working people from living a life that is functional, this is only going to cause more hardships for people and their families, increase the rate of suicide and increase depression, creating a non functional society that has to suffer needless pain. Doctors should no better, they are not treating patients and are discriminating against the american people along with the government and receiving kickbacks to not give out pain medications. So what the government wants is people to just skip the pain meds and go straight to illegal drugs like heroin or commit suicide. Doctors need to take a stand and tell the government they have no business telling them how to treat patients that have chronic pain, diseases or injuries that require pain medications. Like I said this used to be America the land of the free, now we are communist, PEOPLE stand up for yourselves. THIS IS A CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT AGAINST THE GOVERNMENT AND THE DOCTORS THAT DON'T HAVE THE BALLS TO PRACTICE MEDICINE ACCORDING TO THE OATH THAT THEY TOOK WHEN THEY BECAME A DOCTOR, THEY SHOULD JUST TURN THERE LICENSE IN AND GO PLAY GOLF. I FIND MYSELF WONDERING IF BECOMING A NURSE WAS THE RIGHT CHOICE, I ALWAYS WANTED TO HELP PEOPLE AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE BUT UNDER CONDITIONS THAT ARE NOT DICTATED BY PEOPLE THAT HAVE NO BUSINESS IN OTHER PEOPLES HEALTHCARE. SOMEONE OUT THERE START A PETITION FOR A CLASS ACTION SUIT BEFORE TO MANY LIVES ARE RUINED.

I am sick of doctors afraid to treat people like myself with drugs that give us a semblance of normalcy because of an oppressive 3 letter government agency we have no say in. I have had severe lumbar arachnoiditis for at least 25 years as well as osteoarthritis and degenerative disc disease and yet still i am treated as if guilty until proven innocent especially at the Veterans clinics. I am now 63 years old and live in constant pain.

I have been diagnoised with a spinal cord injury, disc issue, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome , migraines among a host of other issues. Yesterday I saw my primary care Doctor to ask what do I do, who do I see? He ignoredy first plea so I ask again. He said he just didn't know. He can't help me because the government has tied his hands. My pain mgt dr reduced his patient load to go back into politics. The hospitals won't. They have told me during a flare, no! Can't do it! We don't give pain meds. Sooooooo now along with my Humana, workmans comp, and medicare, federal disability -Where do I go for help? I desperately need knee surgery on both knees but am afraid of the pain and no meds to help! Now what? Where do I go for help? Is there any help for my pain? I'd love to return to work. I have a degree and loved life. Now my life isn't worth living! I feel like a pimple on society's*****that you just want to go away, suffer in silence. I CAN'T LIVE LIKE THIS ANY MORE! I DON'T WANT TO LIVE LIKE THIS! Of course I don't want to kill myself but I can certainly see why others do. Mr. Law maker, I have a question for you! Where do you and your family go for pain relief?

I suffer from chronic pain and just last night I had an ER doctor refuse to help me because of the insane pressure put on doctors concerning pain management. It is sick. Please understand that people who are truly in need of pain management are not all addicts. Pain IS an emergency and IS life altering. Help is needed.

For two years plus some, I've been suffering with the all too familiar diagnosis of "undifferentiated" chronic autoimmune disorder/pain and I have been put in Vicodin and ibuprofen to just so that I can get out of bed in the mornings for a few hours. I am not a pain pill seeker nor am I an abuser if these Meds. Prior to this unfortunate nightmare I am trapped in, called my body, I have never been on anything but the occasional antibiotic and OTC Aleve. I am a MOTHER and a WIFE stuck in the dreaded middle class donut hole this country overlooks. I am NOT a bad person nor am I an addict. Just because a few bad apples (as there always will be) are doing bad unlawful things with pain pills does not mean people like me and countless others should suffer at their hands and suffer at the hands of people in high political seats who think in a "cookie-cutter" mindset. I pray that you will never needs these types of pain killers, but you are not immune to the possibility of needing them like I and many regular people currently need. Until it happens to you, you will never know. Also, between this war on pain Meds and tobacco, I find it ridiculous that this country isn't doing more and advertising more on the more deadly and costly problems of heroin and meth. But as we all well know, out of sight out of mind works amazingly, doesn't it?

I'm a chronic spine sufferer and have been for 28 years. Been on 2 important medications over the years that help me function to a degree on daily basis. 1 opioid and 1 anti inflammatory. The DEA doesn't belong in my private health issues for many, many reasons. One being my right as a US citizen with the 4 amendment. I do have rights. Dr. And DEA don't mix. Let me live my life with some pain relief. I'm not a drug addict! Im a person who needs medication to function daily due to chronic pain. There are over 100 million chronic pain suffers in the USA alone. When the stats come out about drug abuse in our country as a whole, it includes the chronic pain suffers who commits suside as well. They don't have a category yet for those poor I believe this action to be cruel and unjust, inhumane, and down right evil. A chronic pain sufferers WILL NOT overdose, only the abusers. Only 15,000 overdoses yearly, whereas you have over 100 million chronic pain suffers yearly. That's more than 75%! What are they doing to our society? This is more harmful than good. I thought I lived in The United States of America? Thank you and the powers to be are down right wrong about what they are doing to people of this country. MS

My son has been suffering seen several DR'S!! Neurologists, reumatologist, he is very much educated has a wife and a son holds a successful job. His quality of life is horrible for any human to have no help after unsuccessful attempts. With that being said I'm a mom that is sick from worry. He can't focus, he can't be all he wants to my grandson & his marriage is in strain. His quality of life is zero. He is a outstanding citizen works everyday for a big cooperate company never been in jail or any trouble. But yet he's in so much pain hour by hour each passing day. He's strong minded. Been made to feel even worse by DR'S because they say they would loose the liscence for helping him the DEA & Governent have really put a lot of good people to live a life of ZERO!!!!! We need to change what has been a American right to not have to suffer a day in day out of pain. So much so, I've read many people have considered suicide as a resort of living with chronic pain. Cmon this is America. People are suppose to be treated like humans not made to feel any worse. So as I come to close on this comment please help congress I'm a mom that is begging for change I Love my child so much so I'd take it away and have it myself if I could.. Desperately need to change this law for people that suffer daily minute by minute day by da, LETS GET THIS CHANGED. SHARE TO ADVICATE A CHANGE FOR THOSE THAT ARE TRULY SUFFERING. Elizabeth in KY

How ironic the gentleman writer 23 minutes before mine is experiencing EXACTLY what happened to me almost 2 years ago! My Dr's office was closed suddenly and the doors locked. I found out when I went to my appointment 3 days after the fact! The secretary's were in the office. I had 2 days of medication left. TWO DAYS worth of narcotic pain medication I'd been taking for 5 years! One does not just cease that kind of medicine without rebound pain & horrific withdrawals. Further, I was told I'd get a copy of my records. My three stuffed to capacity folders of records! I never received anything and when I called the medical board to file a complaint the girl I spoke with set up a 3 way call with the Dr who told me he can't even get to the records! He offered to write me a letter! A letter to cover 5-6 years of all kinds of injections/medicine trials etc? PLEASE. If the oh so large and in charge DEA can come in and close a pain management dr's office they should damn well bring a substitute Dr to take care of the displaced Dr's patients! There were 2 ladies age 69-70 with implanted pain medicine pumps and no one to refill the medication! THAT was just the cherry on the cake for me. As a tax paying, law abiding US citizen I'd like to place my vote to close the DEA and put the billions of dollars war on drugs and pain management drs money towards getting this country back on track economically and leave the doctors to do what they were educated to do. Yes, I'm mad. My marriage is falling apart, I can't function like a healthy person because I'm HURTING.

Today, just minutes ago I find out the the Health Department opened my P.M.'s Doctors office for a rediculous 2 days so that a few thousand patients, give or take, can come and pickup there medical records to try and find a doctor and continue receiving some level of care? What? Nobody tried to contact me,I didnt find that out until I watched the local evening news, and by that time the office was closed til tomorrow? I have no idea how the tried to contact me,maybe smoke signals from the community or county fire pit? And on the news she finished with....oh ya by the way if you do get a new Dr some how, more than likely they will offer none of your usual meds,so sorry,go find a rehab or get used to OTC aspirin for your pain? So basicly my local government said....get used to your pain,we couldnt care less....sorry in a few days that many of you wont even be able to get out of bed,or stand,or walk,or leave your house, and that many of you will more than likely become suicidal, like you were when you came to a pain management clinic in the 1st place....so sorry, good luck and from here on out enjoy your life of misery.....? When did all patients lose all rights for no reason? What did we do?

We are desperate for help. My granddaughter has spent too many years bedridden and has been unable to have any quality of life. Pain has stolen her youth. Drs are not around to hear her cry at night because she hurts so badly or to try to help her control entire body twitches. I will invite you to come to my home and see if you could live her life for one day.......this is her reality for a life time.

In my county in CA two doctors have been raided by the law, charged with a crime and thrown in jail for prescribing pain medications to chronic pain patients. Other doctors have been harassed by raids to the point that they won't prescribe any pain medication no matter what the reason. Their patients have proven medical conditions that are so painful they are disabled by it. This started happening about 18 years ago, (the first doctor was jailed around then) and is only getting worse. The doctors here are frightened, as anyone would be. As a result there aren't any doctors here anymore for pain treatment or anything else. I've been a chronic pain patient as proscribed by CA law for 17 years. I was on medication for 15 &1/2 years. Now I'm just in pain. I may have to move so I can receive medical care. I couldn't stand it if I didn't believe I would find a doctor somewhere and get some relief. This is a retirement area and I wonder how older people with chronic painful conditions are supposed to live here. I've been thinking of moving after living here for 40 years and just getting my home paid off. Now I may be forced to leave at the age of 60 because of all this. My family is here. I don't know what to do. How are people my age who are disabled supposed to live ?

Enough is enough. If the brains behind this nonsense, for one day had to endure the pain that we go through, they would never consider this action. My health and body is a confidential relationship with me and my doctor. My pain doctor is highly accredited, compassionate and now very disturbed by this latest attempt to put him out of business and abandon those that he cares for daily.

Face it, folks; some "doctors" just have a propensity for demeaning and degrading patients. They need no classes to learn this. It isn't only pain doctors, but those who think they have control over the lives of those coming to them for help and comfort. Just adding the title, "DR." to a name doesn't imply superior intelligence, compassion, or ability.
