This will seriously impact our lives as patients. The only relief we have is through pain medication. I take my meds seriously and do not abuse them. I take them only as prescribed and never more. Without my pain meds I won't be able to leave my house or enjoy the company of my family and friends. I would withdraw into a life of sheer pain. Please don't do this. This will only cause more harm to society as a whole and the quality of what life we have. Thank you.

You Feds are directly responsible for many people who will give up life because they can't live in intolerable, unrelenting pain. I live alone, must do everything by myself, have a dwindling number of friends because I'm unable to participate in social activities. My cowardly "pain physician" is too afraid of the DEA to provide pain medications to his suffering patients, and really should just give up his practice instead of trying to convince his patients their pain is all in this heads, in spite of MRIs to the contrary. I'm not exaggerating--he actually told me my pain was all in my head. Too bad for me that I didn't spend the last 30 years on a mountaintop in Nepal becoming a Buddhist monk and learning mind control. In addition, he told me doctors don't really want us Medicare patients and they really have little compassion for the "elderly" (I'm only 67). The implication being I should just move on quickly and stop taking up valuable space on the planet. I believe none of these so-called doctors are complying with the Hippocratic oath of "first do no harm."They claim there is no difference between addiction and dependence. I have had a number of their injections which are considerably more than dispensing narcotics, so that's all they are willing to do, but these injections do absolutely nothing for me. I believe all these new laws are the result of the high-profile celebrities who have died because they are ADDICTED and not in pain at all. I have DDD and fibromyalgia as a result of inheritance from my mother. She, at least, was able to get pain medications before all the hysteria that now paints every person who needs them to have any quality of life. I was told by this same idiot doctor to go get medical marijuana, the very same thing they used to arrest and prosecute people for 30 years ago. Now, suddenly they tell you to go to these doctors. So ironic. One of those doctors told me marijuana isn't very good for pain relief, but might just "take the edge off" pain. I'm hardly going to go to some back alley to seek out black market drugs, which they tested me monthly for when I could get any pain meds at all. Btw, before I did that I was on a high level of Advil, which caused me to have stomach bleeding and surgical repair. I guess these doctors (and I hesitate to even call them that as they don't help anyone) would rather you die from internal bleeding than pain relief from opioids. I refuse to live the remainder of my life this way and will seek a way out, and these doctors should all be jailed for allowing their patients to suffer to the point they would rather die than live with horrible pain for the remainder of their miserable lives.

The disturbing part of the overdose problem is that the vast majority are people who illegally obtained these narcotics, however those taking them responsibly and according to dosing instructions for chronic pain are the ones being punished the most. Many injuries cause pain for a lifetime so the only alternative to these medications is constant suffering. The responsible use of pain killers is not causing the overdose problem. The issue is when people get these drugs illegally then try to increase the normally prescribed amount to keep or get a better high. The most common reason people die from overdose is that the pain killers relax the bodies organs to the point that when a person falls asleep after overdosing the body forgets to breathe and a person dies from suffocation. The old saying "Why do I have to suffer because of his mistake" applies quite literally when it comes to prescription pain medications. Those who use their medications responsibly are being targeted because of the misuse perpetrated by the minority.

It also displays a,,'' delusion of grandeur,'' to even think he has that divine right to decide who suffers in physical pain.Forced endurement of physical pain is torture, and as citizewn of the United States of America we have a legal right to NO forced pain a suffering ..we have a legal right to human treatment by our government officials,,and for a simple moral high ground to live in a civilization were torture/death is not a acceptable prescription for the physically ill with painful medical conditions..This cdc employee has completely lost sight of reality, law, and scientific proof,,that medicines designed to treat physical pain are scientifically ,chemically 100% different from terrible street drugs,,yet continues to once again ignore reality and scientific truth..I ask for thee immediate removal upon a psychological examination of this cdc employee,,or any elected official who inability to recognize reality, truth, scientific facts, and who think they have some sorta divine right to decide who suffers in physical pain ,who does not and for how long we are too suffer in physical pain.Since it is literally impossible for any man to physical feel the physical pain of another..Thus NO MAN has the divine right to decide who suffers in physical pain,,and if he thinks he does have this divine right,,need to be removed from office for ,''deluision of grandeur,''a severe psychological symptom of a psychopathic personality. 52 very high morally standard men signed a document that prohibits our elected officials from,''When any form of government becomes destructive with his ,''just powers,''it is the right of the people to alter or abolish it. ''Furthermore, experience has shewn that mankind are more disposed to suffer, whilest evils are sufferable, but a long train of abuses, usurpations pursueing invariable the same objects evinces a design to reduce the physically ill w/painful medical conditons to complete Despotism,''...This is the law this cdc employee has broken,,and should be removed

I was just diagnosed with stage 4 Ovarian cancer and more is being looked for. After having exploratory surgery, my doctor said to take Tylenol. Not only is the Constitution of the United States being totally silenced but so is the Patient Bill of Rights to have their pain treated appropriately! I can't believe how insane this country has become! I had to call 911 the other day because I couldn't breathe. I was dizzy. My whole body was trembling and I thought I was going to pass out. As soon as they got here, I kept telling them I needed oxygen. They said my stats looked fine. I was taken to the hospital and per my conversation with the Doctor, he stated I felt the way I was because my pain was not being adiquately controlled. He was right! After being given pain medication in the hospital and a small prescription for some, my breathing returned to normal. So, I guess because of the INSANE LAWS that have been passed, we're just going to die from the pain some day or jump off of a bridge or become alcoholics! I hope that all of you who passed these laws suffer from debilitating pain some day! Then you will know how harmful it is to suffer not only physically but mentally and emotionally as well. Still doesn't mean you're going to give a crap!

I am one of the people in the long line attempting to get my meds, I have been taking narcotics for 30 years.  The pain clinic I use to go to because my primary doctor absolutly will no longer write scripts for narcotics and I can't find a pain clinic that will accept patients with my insurance.  Seeking drugs is what they first say to me which really gets under my skin.  The pain nurses that i went to told me that I had oxicontin in my system, but I have not ever taken that med and so they fired me.  There are NO other pain clinics that accept my insurance in St. Louis area.  I thought about looking for meds off the street, but that is not my style.  I was taking two very strong narcotics and i was cut off and I went through my own with draw clinic (I did not want to go through withdraw program) and after a year I am off narcotics, but now I have a lot more pain.  Medical Marijuana helps, but now just a few weeks after the idiot politicians got the program running now the are talking about closing it down.  For one thing it is a huge pain in the rear end to submit a long list of requirements.  It will take me a week to get all the docs and procedures completed and it is a lot more expensive than it is off the street and also i have to pay a hundred dollars a year for the license.  I can buy 5 onces a month and if anyone smokes that much they will be sleeping 20 hours a day and I would gain 50 pounds a month.  The people running this and the FDA have no idea what they are doing.  I am sick and tired of this level 10 pain and some doctors, prescription companies, insurance companies.  I feel like we, the ligit patients are taking a beating.  While the greedy and selfish doctors, pharmacy companies and greedy insurance companies are cleaning up. We the patients are not getting equal care and we are getting placed out three months for appointments, cancer treatment is delayed for some people like me, yet others with the platinum insurance get right in for treatment.  We should be getting equal treatment for all healthcare, but we are not, we are getting lesser treatment on services.  FDA is responsible for this mess and they are responsible for those of us that can not find doctors or our medicines.  Keep the politicians and FDA out of my healthcare they have really screwed up the whole healthcare system.  I don't know how much longer I can take this torture!

I am a professional in HR that works for a local government. I have Fibromyalgia and my family doctor has been treating me with pain medicine for 10 years. I have not increased my dose, even once! I don't take more than I am supposed to take. I don't sell my medicine. I am a hard worker that goes to work every day. But if you take my medicine away from me I don't know how I will be able to function, normally. My doctor and my employer does random drug testing and I have never, not once, failed one. I have to work. I have children that depend on me. One that I have custody of because he was born addicted to drugs. His mother and father are both drug addicts and take anything they can get their hands on. If you take my medicine away from me and I have to lay in bed in withdrawal and can't work then how am I supposed to take care of my children? Leave our doctors alone and go after the pushers on the street. You could contact my doctor, the pharmacy and look me up on jail house reports. I have never abused my medication or sold it. I'm sure the pharmacy could tell you the names of the persons who abuse, misuse or sell their medications. Please for the sake of the people who actually take the medicine as prescribed do not do this. You will be doing harm to the ones who have done no harm to anyone. Someone in Tennessee

My heart goes out to the drs who are taking a stand and are being FALSELY ARRESTED AND HAVING THEIR LICENSES FALSLY SUSPENDED. All of you *******s running this country need to go ! It made me sick reading the stories of all these COMPASSIONATE drs who treated their patients pain with dignity and respect only to be the DEA target, forced into silence, The drs associates are bribed into turning aganist the dr...the witchhunters throw all these high numbers out there that the media goes nuts with, making a single dr out to be what looks like a dealer. SHAME ON ALL OF YOU! I AM NOT PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN CITIZEN, NOT PROUD TO WAVE THE FLAG, NOT PROUD TO BE PART OF A COUNTY THAT IS TORTURING INNOCENT LAW ABIDING CITIZENS WHO ARE CHRONICALLY ILL. I HOPE YOU ALL EXPERIENCE WHAT SEVERE NEVER ENDING CHRONIC PAIN IS LIKE. I HOPE YOU ALL FEEL WHAT ITS LIKE TO BE STIGMATIZED AND TREATED LIKE SOME LOWLIFE, TO HAVE PAIN SO BAD YOU BEG GOD TO TAKE YOU DAILY LIKE NEARLY ALL LEGITIMATE PAIN SUFFERERS DO. TAKING AWAY LIFESAVING MEDICATION FROM THE CHRONICALLY ILL IS GOINGTO MAKE THE HEROIN EPIDEMIC SKYROCKET. BUT THATS THE GOVERNMENTS PLAN ALL ALONG RIGHT!? TO FORCE PAIN PTS TO THE STREETS FOR RELIEF,, TURNING US INTO CRIMINALS, WELL F*** YOU ! YOU HAVE MESSED WITH THE WRONG COMMUNITY OF PEOPLE. YOU THINK JUST BECAUSE WE ARE CRIPPLED IN SEVERE PAIN WE ARE TO WEAK TO FIGHT BACK!? THINK AGAIN...THE CHRONIC PAIN COMMUNITY IS NOT, WILL NOT, BACK DOWN ! WE HAVE A RIGHT TO. MEDICINE THAT EASES OUR PAIN!

If anyone in upper government would have unbearable pain, like "Chronic pain patients " I think they might see this through our eyes... ( maybe) Those of us, who can barely function, or not function at all, because the pain never goes away, are the ones who are paying the price, for junkies, & drug addicts from the streets.! We are being thrown in with Street Drug addicts, This FDA 2016 new ruling is not fair to valid sufferers.! ( may I add in, Many sufferers want to end their lives, because of pain we are forced to endure), A personal friend of mine , DID SHOOT HIMSELF, BECAUSE of the INTENSE PAIN he was in. That is not a viable option for me, as well as with many others in unbearable pain. It makes you pray that God heals you, or that GOD will take you from this Earth.. ???? I was told by some of MY Doctors, that A LOT of Chronic pain patients ARE going to the streets to BUY Heroin, as 1st time users, because they can not get out of pain! ....??? Furthermore this is going to esculate the drug trafficking. The consequences will be devastating. .???? How the FDA figures that this is a good thing, is beyond those of us that are true sufferers. . We already sign contracts, submit pee for drug tests. A Very, very small percentage of Chronic pain patients ever die from Over dosing... It is Drug addicts FROM the STREETS who OVERDOSE & die! And thanks to people who had fake prescription's, Only to sell them on the streets. Those of us who are in great pain, don't sell drugs, WE TAKE THEM ! I wonder if the Government is ready to deal with all those people who now have gone to the the streets, for Heroin, which is Easier to get, & way cheaper, or deal with suicides because people can not get out of pain ! Hang in there fellow sufferers, lay in bed all day, & watch the Drug Cartel Prosper, along with more deaths...I don't see how FDA, or Anyone can say this is a great solution. The Doctors are NOT HAPPY, with this ruling either. The crime rate will probably raise as well, because ??? street Drug adficts do anything for their drugs! Us Chronic pain sufferers are just going to suffer more. I am not willing to go buy Heron or any drugs from the streets, but I bet the number will increase! So will death rates..I hope this ruling gets changed, I'm tired of fighting to just exist, pain meds helped me have some life..Now, I rarely leave my house, or take my Dog out. I trained him to pee on pads inside now.. This is an awful ruling! May God shed some light onto those of us who exist, only to to suffer...

I used to think "pain patients" were lying. That they were bored or drug addicts. It's very humbling now to have a disease with no cure that I've never heard of until I was diagnosed: trigeminal neiralgia. One of my medications I can no longer get, and it took me a month to find a new doctor who wasn't a pill milk and two months to find a pharmacy willing to fill my scripts after I moved for work. I promise you none of us enjoy our lives in regards to pain management. I also promise you that without painkillers I'd be suicidal within days. I have "the suicide disease" and never knew this kind of pain existed. Every time I read an article about a virtual war on us I get scared that I'll be forced to either move to w country where I can live, or end my life. We are responsible drug users who genuinely need opiates to work and be productive.

I can't say anything that hasn't already been said. Pain meds do help me get through days where otherwise I wouldn't be able to get out of bed. I can't believe our government is run by such ignorant people. But why not? The whole world is going down hill. The few obnoxious and big mouth people that have changed our morals in this whole country. Even the office of presidency has become a joke. The media tells us what they are told to and so much is a joke. So little faith in the America people. Why not? Look at the joke of government and government offices. Put Christian beliefs back in your lives and maybe you will feel humanity and sympathy again. Please don't be cold hearted.

Since 1996 I have endured periodic discomfort and pain associated to osteoarthritis. As a child athlete, weight lifter and adult 'fast walker' over Northern CA hills, cartilage in my knees, ankles and shoulders were compromised beyond expectations. All have been totally replaced, while one ankle and one shoulder have been replaced with major revision, and a total reversal of the shoulder/arm. My ability to accept pain involved comes from fortitude and a deep spirit. Nonetheless, my surgeons understood when certain opioids were truly needed. Never have I abused a prescription since classification as an 'addict' could be placed upon me. My age is 66, and I am proud of athletic prowess achieved since childhood. While awaiting the two year period required by Social Security Disability, suicide by gunfire crossed my mind more than once. Crawling and inching forward on buttocks were sometimes employed for movement. Physicians who performed five total joint replacements, then one major revision and a shoulder total reversal (done after first rplcmnt. ground down), greatly relieved horrid physical pain. Mental anguish has also been addressed by my Psychiatrist. Never have I abused any prescription; being aware I could be labelled 'addicted'. Sleep has not always come easily, so the anti-inflammatory pain prescription Voltaran (diclofenac) allows regular assistance. However, there have been instances when opioid use was necessary. With no children or teens in home (nor do any visit), I have not 'misplaced' any medicine. Please do not punish people who require infrequent relief from opioid medicine to suffer. Physicians realize what their patients have experienced; to tether them from providing relief causes semi-chronic pain people anguish. Please allow medical doctors to best aid those who benefit from certain prescriptions the dignity well-deserved from unbearable pain when necessary. Thank you for your concern with this legitimate plea. Sincerely yours, Mercedes (Litfin) Zingmark

Please everyone who reads this site, sign and stand up to the bullies that run our country. I have already known someone who has committed suicide because of these "First Do No Harm Laws". The crime is being that is being committed is on the tax payers. If everyone who took pain pills abused them then honestly 1/3 of Americans would not work, take care of their family and live their daily lives. Being pain free with the help of meds is our right, not their choice to make for us. Once again the DEA is wasting our tax money going after the people who do not commit crimes just people who want to live a pain free life. The second crime is being committed against the Doctors. When has it been ok to tell a Medical Professional how to do their job. They went to Med School, they care about people and want to help them. Placing blame and telling Doctors how to handle their patients that they know and care about is a huge crime in itself. Stand up everyone, support us and our Doctors who did no harm in treating us. They only help let us live a pain free normal life.
