My wife and I both have chronic pain from several other conditioms that cannot be treated by physical therapy. I am a care taker to both my wife and mother of 87. Like others, I would not be able to take care of them with out the use of pain medication which I have taken safely for many years.I am very fearful for what this means to us as a family. Because of these abusers,we all have to suffer so badly? This is truely damaging to so many.good people. Stuck in the middle. -

This is not right they ( the government ) has forced my Dr's to stop writing them, I'm feeling more and more like suicide is the only way to stop the pain, I just hate to do this to my family wife children and great grandchildren and friends, my father-in-law killed himself this past November because he couldn't take all the Dr's acting like he is a drug Junkie.REPORT COMMENTS

Let me say this! A person who has a addictive personality will abuse anything that helps them feel better. I have taken Oxycontin for 12 years , I have had 20 major surgery's in 9 years. I have so much physical pain I can not even get out of bed with ouit pain meds and when I run out I run out and just lay in bed praying the Lord relieve me of this horrible condition and I pray God you pain med skeptics never go through what I go through everyday of my life when the only thing you have to do is threaten what help I get, Shame on you! There will always be drug abuse and as the so called war on drugs has failed all this will! All you do is stoke and aid the drug pushers business to knew heights in the Black Market of Heroin while depriving folks as me to this horrible movement! My Stepdaughter committed suicide 4 years ago because of being treated like a drug addict by her family and doctors when all along she suffered from Lupus and Fibro which I believe was brought on by a deadly car crash at 18 , she told me between that which I was being put through and what they were putting her through she was not going to live her life in such a hell brought on by people like you that are on a witch hunt to out law Opiates and pain meds that give us some sort of a life . As a retired Police officer and worked indirectly close to the DEA, you people do not have a clue how thrilled you are making the illegal opiate trade and think of my Late Stepdaughter as you continue on with this bull******movement to outlaw opiates! Just like the slaughter of children at Sandy Hook if there would have just been gun laws , my God they were Gun Laws , the guns that murdered all those 20 children were all registered and owned by a school teacher! You fight Drug Addiction in Elementary education by teaching all children the dangers of Booze and Tobacco which if these witch hunters want for us to know the real truth but they do not. I miss my Stepdaughter a so much and some of us will continue on the fight to protect our right to feel better and function without fear of these witch hunters trying to convince us to commit suicide . And they are trying to do exactly THAT ! The under line real truth is THESE witch hunters would rather us Chronic Pain sufferers commit suicide are and DRINK all the BOOZE we can drink! The Federals legalized it ( ALCOHOL) knowing its a more deadly drug than Strychnine. And just because the DEA has miserably failed with their ******** war on drugs why do they deprive us sick people of our Constitutional Rights to be Happy in that pursuit of with Professional Physicians to take meds that give us relief of this horrible malady of Chronic Pain ! May God have mercy on their miserable souls they that seek to destroy us Chronic Pain Sufferers only and little hope of temporary relief of this horrible sickness.REPORT COMMENTS

I have been in back pain all my life but at age 50 it became severe. I've tried everything and finally at 62 I had the first of 4 surgeries. I have a significant scoliosis with all of the maladies that go with it and now I have the nerve damage too. Pain changes you and to be treated like a junkie makes it worse. I take s minimal dose of opioids but my fear is the CDC guideline and The NSA are going to take my right to function with minimal pain away with no viable alternative. Please do not let that happen. There are patients in pain who abide by the rules who deserve to be treated appropriately!REPORT COMMENTS

Pain changes who you are, it destroys your life, and being treated like an addict just adds to it. I have a severe spinal disorder and I have done every kind of treatment all The way up to 4 spinal surgeries. I also have nerve damage, which can't be fixed. I know I am going to have many more spinal surgeries but even those will only do minimal help. The dea is not stopping the drug abusers, they are punishing legitimate pain patients. If they want to really help treat abusers and let legitimate pain patients get our medications.REPORT COMMENTS

I am a retired CRNA (nurse anesthetist). If I had left one of my patients to endure 3 days of screamingly bad back pain, like I was left to deal with earlier this week while under the 'care' of a Pain Management Clinic, I probably would have had a complaint filed against me and rightfully so. Irrespective of whether the DEA likes it or not, there are types of pain that require narcotic painkillers for relief and no amount of 'mindfulness', visualizing babbling brooks or learning how to express your inner child is going to change that. I am reminded of the long ago Lamaze method which promised a pain free childbirth if you would only lightly rub circles on your abdomen and breathe a certain way. I am deeply puzzled as to why the specialty of Pain Management even exists since they clearly do not do what is advertised, i.e. manage pain. One is led to suspect that there may be a high stakes wager, perhaps on the statewide level, to see who can prescribe the least amount of narcotic pain killers over a specified period of time.REPORT COMMENTS

03/25/2016 This day, March 25, 2016, I fulfilled my responsibility to what I thought was needed to have my prescription opiate pain medication refilled. What a mistake I made for assumming!!! Being my insurance changed because I am now Medicare eligable, I encountered my new pain management doctor and he "would not" refill my very much needed medication. When I asked him why, he simply replied, "It is the law now imposed by the DEA." I have relied on this medication, Norco and Fentanyl, for almost 10 years and have never, ever been an abuser. So, why now the reticence on the doctors behalf to give me what I need for my chronic pain? Here what I have to say to the DEA: Get out of the pain management business!!!! You are only hurting those who really need medicine to make their lives somewhat liveable!!! It is not my fault that some people choose to abuse opiate pain medication! I have NEVER done so and as a matter of record at one point in my life reduced my consumption of Norce from 360 pills to 120 pills per month! On my own, gradually, and am proud to state so! So why are you punishing me? Stephen E. HandmanREPORT COMMENTS

I am 61years old, I have suffered numerous injuries throughout my life. I was crushed with a ton of steel, causing leg, knee, and back injuries and I have been on crutches 10 times. I have had 5 repairative surgeries to the leg, knees, and back as well as 5 minor surgeries for other reasons. I have done repetitive hard labor all my life (50 years worth) and have spent a small fortune on every pain remedy under the sun. I had to recently resign from my job because I could no longer pretend I was ok. While employed my doctors prescribed me norco and robaxin as well as injections and physical therepy for chronic pain throughout my body. I am a veteran of foriegn war and was left with VA medical care as my only option. These people could care less about me or my pain issues. I was told that they only prescribe opiate medication to those dying of cancer. I was blown away, I provided a urine sample to" prove" I was not abusing opioids and passed with flying colors, I showed them all my previous medical records and history of medications and it did not mean "squat" to them. MY opinion is that because there are abusive people in the world we must all suffer for it, to hell with your serious pain, some guy took a handful of pills and killed himself so now you are all suspect. Isn't that similar to guns don't kill people, people kill people. It is just another example of political correctness run amok, all the so called do gooders trying to save everyone from themselves. I have never overdosed, I have never shot heroin, I do not drink, or smoke and besides serious chronic body pain I have no other medical issues. Unfortunetly doctors are just pawns in this hypocritical movement, they fear the corrupt federal gov't is just waiting to pounce on them for not doing what master says, and I know that these are the same hypocrites that expect the same pain relief they are trying to deny everyone else. What a dammed worldREPORT COMMENTS

Please help me. I have Muscular Dystrophy and have terrible pain 24/7. I have been going the same pain clinic for 5 years and all of a sudden they say that they need to cut my meds wayyy down cause it is dangerous ordered by the CDC. I am in withdrawl and very sick and need help and cannot get it now because of the new thinking. Does anyone think that they are going to make more street drugs users because people are desperate to get out of pain. So in fact by telling all the pain clinics that they need to cut their patients meds (I am a perfect patient too. I have never lost a prescription or go to the ER's just for meds etc etc.) they are making more "drug addicts on the streets now"REPORT COMMENTS

Doesn't make sense that this is all due to people dieing! Why blame doctors? The doctor doesn't force them to take it. People who purchase weapons and use them to end their lives shouldn't be blamed for that individuals choice. It's teaching the world not to be responsible for the choices they make. So the people of Flint especially the kids who have or going to have chronic pain are drug addicts because their water was poisoned . How are they going to have their pain managed with experimental fda poisons ? Haven't you hurt enough people for the day ? Mr. President, Ive written to you well over 20 times now. I am in severe excruciating pain! My DEBILITATING CONDITIONS HAVE NO CURES! YOU EXPECT ME TO SUFFER NEEDLESSLY IN SEVERE PAIN EVERY DAY!? TO ROB ME OF ANY QUALITY OF LIFE I HAD WHEN I WAS ON THE CORRECT DOSE OF PAIN MEDICATION!?!? WHY!?!? I HAVE A RIGHT TO TREAT MY PAIN JUST LIKE YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO TREAT YOUR MEDICAL CONDITION!! WHAT YOU ARE DOING TO LEGITIMATE CHRONIC INTRACTABLE PAIN PATIENTS IS GENOCIDE! IT IS INHUMANE TO ALLOW A HUMAN BEING TO SUFFER IN PAIN!! IVE HAD IT WITH PAYING THE VERY HIGH PRICE WITH MY HEALTH AND OVERALL WELL BEING BECAUSE OF THOSE WHO CHOOSE TO ABUSE! WHY THE F*** AM I BEING NEGLECTED AND ABUSED, DISCRIMINATED AND DEGRADED BY DOCTORS, NURSES, PHARMACIES, AND SOCIETY IN GENERAL!?!? I FOLLOW THE DAM RULES! I AM NOT SOME PILL SEEKING JUNKIE, ADDICT OR CRIMINAL, SO STOP TREATING ME LIKE ONE!!! OUR DOCTORS HAVE TURNED INTO YOUR PUPPETS, DENYING LEGITIMATE PAIN PATIENTS THE MEDICATION THEY NEED TO HAVE A QUALITY OF LIFE, THAT IS BARBARIC! WE THE PEOPLE DEMAND TO SEE THOSE OF YOU DESTROYING THIS COUNTRY, THE DEA, CDC, FDA, AND ALL OF YOU FROM THE PRESIDENT ON DOWN, INCLUDING YOUR LOVED ONES, WE DEMAN TO HAVE ACCESS TO YOUR MEDICAL RECORDS AND PHARMACY RECORDS!! IT WOULD NOT SURPRISE ME AT ALL TO FIND MANY OF YOU REQUIRING PAIN MEDICATION FOR A QUALITY OF LIFE, BUT YET NONE OF YOU ARE PERSECUTED, DISCRIMINATED AGAINST,DEGRADED, ABUSED, MISTREATED BECAUSE OF YOUR DEBILITATING CONDITIONS. I BET YOUR DRS GREET YOU WITH COMPASSION AND SHOW YOU EMPATHY, THE REST OF US THOUGH,HAVE TO JUMP THRU HOOPS JUST TO GET THE LOWEST DOSE OF PAIN MEDICATION. I HAVE A VERY HIGH TOLERANCE TO PAIN MEDICINE, SO THAT MAKES ME A CRIMINAL OR ADDICT IN YOUR EYES!? SHAME ON YOU! THERE ARE GENETICS TESTING THAT CAN BE RUN TO DETERMINE IF A PATIENT WILL REQUIRE HIGHER DOSES OF NARCOTICS, NOT B/C THEY ARE ADDICTS, B/C OF THE WAY OUR BODIES METABOLIZE THE OPIODS. TEN YEARS I WAS ON THE SAME DOSE WITH SOMEWHAT SUCCESS, MY PAIN NEVER WENT OVER A 4/5 WHICH I WAS ABLE TO GET THRU A DAY. SINCE MY MEDS WERE LOWERED TO INEFFECTIVE DOSES, I AM AT A CONSTANT 9, BEDRIDDEN ALL DAY, EVERY DAY. I'VE MISSED OUT ON A FAMILY WEDDING,TWO BABY SHOWERS, TWO CHRISTENINGS, MY SONS PLAYOFF GAMES, AND SO MUCH MORE..WHY!?!? B/C I AM IN AGONY! GET OUT OF OUR HEALTHCARE! FIX THIS HELL YOU HAVE THROWN INNOCENT LAW ABIDING CITIZENS WHO ARE CHRONICALLY ILL INTO. IF YOU THINK FOR ONE SECOND THAT TAKING AWAY LIFE SAVING MEDS FROM LEGITIMATE PAIN PATIENTS IS GOING TO END YOUR HEROIN EPIDEMIC, THEN YOU'RE LIVING ON ANOTHR PLANET, THE HEROIN PROBLEM WILL BECOME MUCH WORSE AS YOU FORCE LEGITIMATE PAIN PTS TO THE STREETS FOR RELIEF OR WORSE DEATH! MANY LEGITIMATE PAIN PTS ARE TAKING THEIR LIVES TO ESCAPE THE PAIN, BUT YOU LABEL THOSE SUICIDES AS A LIE, OVERDOSE DUE TO OPIODS, RATHER THAN WHAT IT REALLY IS, SUICIDE DUE TO INADEQUATE PAIN RELIEF!! GENOCIDE AT THE HANDS OF THE GOVERNMENT! I URGE YOU FELLOW WARRIORS TO CONTINUE WRIREPORT COMMENTS
