My husband and I have had dobermans for 25 years and not once have we ever had a problem with any of them. If you are a responsible dog owner, of any breed, and you take the time to train, and love the dog, there should be no problem. Maybe we should worry about some of the crazies that walk this earth, instead of worrying about man's best friend, the dog, the doberman. Dobes are smart, loyal dogs and this act of the military is, in my opinion, stupid and uncalled for. Im willing to bet the person, or persons that came up with this insane idea that dobes are aggressive, has never owned one! My neighbor has a Maltese and that little thing goes after anyone that walks the street, trying to bite them...

The stereotyping of dog breeds is ridiculous. Dobermans, like every other dog breed is a product of the breeder and the owner. Certain dogs with certain looks are more likely to be owned by ignorant pet owners who make the dog "vicious". They could do the same thing with a golden retriever, but they don't buy golden retrievers. Don't blame breeds for the people that own them. Many good and responsible dog owners love Dobies too and should have the right to own one. You can't ban Ferraris because some people speed in them.

Dobermans are incredibly sweet, smart dogs as long as the correct people are raising them. You are more likely to be bitten by a little Yorkie or Chihuahua than a Dobie. This is ridiculous.

The Doberman served as military dogs through two wars. Why are they being discriminated against as a breed? Why are military families being denied a stable family protector, particularly when the head of the family is so often away on deployment? This is unjustified.

My husband & I lived in Military housing from 1987-1997 with our Doberman. On-Base military veterinarians provided her care. She was admired because of her exemplary temperament & respected as a breed that provided life-saving serivice to the military during wartime. It is very disturbing that the military is turning it's back on this breed.

Stop BSL. do you all forgott, about the war dogs in WII.isn't it enough that our womans and men fight everywhere in the world, now you want to punish them and take their dogs away.stop banning breeds.Dobermans are great family dogs and you might should made some research before banning dobermans and other great breeds.my friends are marines and my son is in the army and they never would agreed with banning family dogs."Dobermans were used in both WWI and WWII, assisting soldiers. These war dogs were trained to find and rescue wounded soldiers, detect enemy locations and mines, act as messengers, sentries and guard dogs A testament to the cruelty, wastefulness and sadness of war, was the use of suicide dogs. These dog victims of war were packed with explosives that were remotely detonated once the dog was near an enemy tank. In WWII the U.S. Marine Corps had their own K-9 Corps known as the ?Devil?s Dogs?. (Not the most flattering name for a heroic group of dogs). These dogs received specialized training as messenger dogs to deliver messages, ammunition or medical supplies and sentry dog training to alert handlers of any enemy strangers approaching. These dogs prevented many ambushes as they stood watch protecting their sleeping, tired soldier handlers." you should evaluate every single dog to see how they react and if they are dangerous, not ban them without knowing them.

I guess the past service of the Doberman as a war dog has been forgotten? The idea to stereotype breeds is ridiculous and pathetic. I currently own dobermans, one is a registered with an international therapy dog assoc. We go to nursing homes for veterans and bring them joy and smiles. I have lost some respect for our military with this decision. Shameful.

Dobermans are wonderful dogs. Stop the prejudice based on stereotypes purportrated by Hollywood and uneducated individuals. It is obscene that the army would discriminate against the very breed that served this country in two wars. Dobermans were used in both WWI and WWII, assisting soldiers. These war dogs were trained to find and rescue wounded soldiers, detect enemy locations and mines, act as messengers, sentries and guard dogs A testament to the cruelty, wastefulness and sadness of war, was the use of suicide dogs. It's fine for them to serve in the military, but yet they're considered a dangerous breed? Give me a break. We own 2 Doberman's and they are the farthest thing from a dangerous breed I've ever seen. STOP BSL - BAN THE DEED NOT THE BREED!
