The Doberman Pinscher is a loyal pet to many service men and women in this country. They are no more dangerous than any large breed dog. Our veterans have trusted this noble breed in battle time and again. Please do not let bad owners prevent the good owners from keeping their beloved family pets.Oct 21st, 2009Someone from Royal Oak, MI writes:
given the history of the breed and the great service that they have provided and are still providing to this country..this is absolutely assnineREPORT COMMENTS

Please visit the US military war memorial for Dobermans in Guam. This is no way to treat a breed that was ALWAYS FAITHFUL to the US Army.REPORT COMMENTS

It's irresponsible owners that are the problem, not the breed. When all these breeds are banned, owners that want "bad" dogs will just move on to another large breed. Once more; it's these owners that are the problem, not the breed.REPORT COMMENTS

It's a sad day when one of America's finest and most loyal of companions is to be banned from living with their families. This is the same breed that is responsible for saving so many lives of our service men in Guam. Pretty pathetic statement, when you see the doberman on the War Dog Memorial statue, to think that this most loyal of dogs is no longer allowed to live on army bases. J. HaugenREPORT COMMENTS

I love Dobermans! I know several, and they are all lovely dogs. This has SO much more to do with the owners being irresponsible or worse, inciting these beautiful dogs to aggression.REPORT COMMENTS

How dare anyone even dream of banning the Loved Doberman breed that gave their lives for our soldiers in past wars. Please tell me this is not true and not being done on our US bases. Why, we even have a monument in their honor. This must be stopped. Sincerely,Elaine Adams wife of a retired marine soldier and breeder of Windsong Doberman Pinschers for showing, working and beloved family petsREPORT COMMENTS

Take action against irresponsible pet owners, not the breeds that are unfortunate enough to be in their hands.REPORT COMMENTS

Dobermans have fought beside our soldiers for decades - they have been their eyes and their ears in times of trouble - and noteably, they protected soldiers in combat in World War II. They have even helped us find and recover the wounded, as well as the bodies of those honorable soldiers we lost on the battlefield. It is incomprehensible that the Army would now turn its back on the very dog that has worked within the Army's ranks for so long. The Doberman, whose figure sits regally in memoriam upon the US Marine War Dogs' WWII monument, now banned from Army bases. This is beyond incomprehensible - it is disgraceful.REPORT COMMENTS

This is totally without cause. You can not punish this breed or the people who would own them. The Doberman in all it's glory died for us in war and this is how you want to reward the breed they should be treated like the hero's they are.REPORT COMMENTS

I find it hard to believe we can trust service people to defend our nations but not control their pets. As a proud veteran and doberman owner, I'm extremely disappointed by the ignorance being shown on this subject.REPORT COMMENTS
