I adopted a retired service dog and have also shown doberman's and they've been great. They also were used by the military to run messages in war zones. Please don't restrict them.

Had Dobermans my entire life raised 7 children with them- absolutely fantastic loving protective animals. That is a shame that they got put on that list. The military families will miss out on a wonderful experience owning one of these wonderful animals. Shame on you UNCLE SAM....

There is no such thing as a dangerous breed of dog. There are individual animals that are dangerous. My dobermans are Titled AKC Companion dogs and are much safer that many dogs consided acceptable.

Another stupid act by an impotent government agency. Tell it to the Marines.

I find this very sad that the military would ban a dog that the Marines have had as a mascot. This dog has served beside our soldiers and has given it life just like their human counterpart. This is a very poor decision and pray that this petition makes them realize that.

The decision taken by the US Army to bar any breed of dog from military housing - in this case Dobermanns - is just plain wrong. This breed has a glorious history of working for and with our military - such as under battle conditions in Guam in WW II, - and does not appear as a problem on dogbite.com. It is my understanding that the Army is the only branch to add the Dobermann to their list of barred breeds, a list that, to me, is akin to insinuating that a member of the military who wants to rent a property I own cannot have it because other people have been found guilty of committing violent crimes. Some of these murderers may even be civilians! I intend to ask my Senator, John Kerry, to open an inquiry into this ighnorant move by the US Army. Maybe Sec. Gates will also have an opinion?

Dobermans fought and died for US in World War II. To not let them live in Military housing is the worst thing I have heard.

Not so long ago these Dobermans that they now claim are AGRESSIVE dogs used to save HUNDREDS of our soldiers lives. How can the US government forget??? The dog only is agressive as the owner teaches/trains them to be, and if they want to see some DOCILE dobes I have 3 of them. All rescues, and one I have right now is here in foster due to a family with the economic turmoil in our country now. They all get along with dogs, people, kids...now tell me how agressive they are?? Remember GUAM, and the memorial for the WAR DOGS & the statue is the dog is a Doberman "Lucas".

The Doberman has played an important part in the military during WWII and saved many lives. Banning them would be dishonorable. It's the owners that should be banned not a specific breed...

I can not believe that the US Amry would put this beloved breed on their list of aggressive dogs that can not reside on military bases! I grew up an Army brat, traveled to many places with my family, all those years I dreamed of owning a Doberman! I now own one, who has to be one of the most loyal and loving dog I have ever owned! And to think that the Doberman Club of America honored the veterans that had these dogs in the war, is well, just a slap in the face of this nobel breed and a slap in the face to those veterans that had these dogs by their side!!! I have often thought each time I am on the Ft. Riley military base, that what is needed is education to the servie members of EVERY dog breed, about how to be a good owner! Require classes or temperment testing of the dogs that are on base!!!

As a owner of several Doberman's I am thinking someone in charge has been watching too many Hollywood movies staring Doberman's. Policies like these that make me question military actions and their thought process in general. If you must get involved, stop this nonsence attention on breeds and direct your protocols to the irresponsible owners of many unfortunate dogs of all breeds.

Doberman stood side by side in many military battle. I cant believe that you would feel that this breed who served the military well is now not allowed to be a companion to the military families. Please remove breed specific bans and make them agressive individual dogs. It isnt a breed problem it is the owners. Please stop breed specific bans!

Ban the irresponsible owners not the dogs. They make the problem not the Doberman's or any other breed.

The Dobermann has served this country well as military dogs, service dogs, police dogs, and loving family pets, a ban of this type is really idiotic.
