Try having direct communication with your board and they ignore you, what are your options? You need a trust fund or be independently wealthy to have your concerns heard via mediation and/or arbitration. Read all the documents carefully. It's written to be used against you.

HOAs are useless tyrants. Small people who need to make themselves feel big! I have paid dues year in and year out and I get nothing for it. HOAs are un -American and need to be made illegal!

Rules the Board of Directors are supposed to follow -they don't. We are giving carte blanche to people to use our own money against us. Someone should do something to stop this bullying. The HOA I am now subjected to is not the HOA I signed up to be a part of. They only want to suck the homeowners dry or foreclose on people's homes. It is a travesty of justice. Makes me a shamed to call myself an American.

a HOA is a lot like Obama care. You have to sign up for it and you dictated what you can and can not do even though they are not paying the house note.

I get no services from my HOA but they want me to pay $325.00 per year. I was also told by the realtors who sold me home that it was not part of a community. They also harass 7 threaten those who can't afford to pay bringing them to court over fees unpaid. Walker Lake Landowners Assoc. Pike Co. PA

To Whom it May Concern: HOA's have long been taking advantage of the American people and their dream to own a home and make it their own to raise their families. HOA's have become dictators telling people when they can have friends over and what can be kept on their property. In these times where home sales are plummeting, homeowners are trying to do things to increase interest in their homes and an HOA is a turn off to new homebuyers. You may ask why? Because of all the rules. Such as you cannot keep your $250k motorhome or $35k boat in your own driveway. You have to put up a storage that has the same coloring as your home. People that buy expensive homes that are in an HOA are not keeping trash or broken down items in their yards. HOA's are just another way for more control over free Americans and they need to be dissolved. We have a 'Kangaroo' board with four in league with one another...not only with each other, but with the management company we employ as well and I have documentation via an e-mail to prove it. We have a seven man board with the 'infamous four' holding court to carry out their own personal agendas needed to fulfill quorum. In addition, our board president is a non resident and does not pay dues while another of the 'infamous four' works for the management company we employ?.a definite conflict of interest I would think. If the home owners had been made aware of this at the time of their election, I highly doubt that either of them would have been elected. They have suppressed information given to us by the only board member with enough conscience, character and courage to keep us informed (and at great expense to her and her family)?. so that home owners might know what is going on. Ergo, they have tried to force her off the board through intimidation. What information we are given by the 'infamous four' is mired in suppression or through omission. They twist the facts and are selective in their legal interpretations to defend their positions while ignoring the intent behind the law and the outcry of a great many homeowners. To be sure, until now no one attended their meetings which is what they counted on?.however, no one tells you when you buy in an HOA that it is almost a requirement that the meetings are attended. They only tell you why it's such a good place to live. Talk about 'omission'. I spoke my piece at the last board meeting and had another homeowner thank me for my contributions. He told me he was in full agreement but was afraid to sign a petition for recall for fear of retribution by the board. Another spokesman was a past board member who said he tried for four years to have the member who works for the management company removed but to no avail. All the while the board member he referred to just laughed. At what point will the states or federal government get involved to stop this kind of gestapo behavior so that our basic constitutional rights can be exercised within an HOA that abuses the p

Our HOA voted to dissolve the accoding to Stae Code of Virginia 13.1-742 and the town refuse to accept the common areas. The HOA lawyer should have filed a Writ of Mandamus to facilitate dissolutioninstead he continues to "represent" the HOA and collect his lawyer fees. Where is the freedom, liberty and justice for all here!

HOA's in Florida need oversight! Board members vote themselves on, commit voter fraud, embezzle money, Our HOA is raising monthly fees for 2014 50% this year alone! They must be dismantled. We pay taxes to our cities, this is DOUBLE taxation! And they have a right to lien your house and foreclose on it! The laws need to be changed NOW!
